Celebrate the Year Of The Dog With Our Paw Friendly Cottages
Published on 21 Mar 2018 by Gwion LlwydFebruary 2018 saw the Chinese calendar roll into a brand-new year – it was goodbye to the year of the rooster and hello to the year of the dog.
In traditional Chinese culture, each lunar year is associated with one of twelve animal signs – the rat, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, sheep, monkey, rooster, dog and pig – animals that are traditionally Chinese domestic pets or associated with good luck.
Despite making our home in beautiful Wales, we have yet to get a request for a dragon-friendly cottage. A little surprising perhaps, though maybe Welsh dragons like to go elsewhere for their jollies.
Furrier friends, however, are a different matter entirely. Almost half of all our holiday cottage bookings are made by Dioni guests looking for a pet-friendly place to stay. And we very much welcome them!
Whilst pet-friendly occasionally means a place to park a guinea pig or rabbit cage for a week or two, more often than not our guests are looking for somewhere that will welcome their pooch as a much-valued member of the holiday tribe.
Being dog-lovers ourselves, we know how important it is to be able to include your dog on your hols in a cottage that will suit their needs (like an enclosed garden, great walks, nice fire to lie in front of at the end of a long day’s walk).

Brilliant walking out of the front door, and if your dog likes to trot as you cycle you can get as far as Caernarfon on the local bike track. A wonderful peaceful rural haven.
