Stone Cottage Within Morfa Harlech Nature Reserve | 3-Ty-Gwyn

X5
Near BeachReal Fire
Harlech

3-Ty-Gwyn is a cute stone cottage within the Morfa Harlech Nature Reserve. Colourful and homely, it also has the advantage of some great views of the estuary and mountains. Within easy distance of Harlech and Porthmadog, it is a lovely place to relax and get away from it all.

With the added comfort of a wood burner and the plush sofas, the sitting room is certainly a place you will all come together at the end of a hard day in the mountains for a bit of rest and relaxation. Directly opposite is a separate dining room; ideal for enjoying a home cooked evening meal with your friends or family.

The bright and colourful kitchen is delightful and won’t fail to brighten up your spirits when making the morning coffee. With all the mod cons you would expect, there is everything you need and a separate utility room off the kitchen is ideal for managing the washing from days on the beach, in the mountains etc.

Upstairs are two double bedrooms and one single. Again, keeping in line with the rest of the house, each one comfortable, bright and airy with distressed wooden floorboards, adding to the country cottage feel. The family bathroom is also on this floor, which is home to a shower over bath arrangement, WC and washbasin - all modern with a slate tiled floor.

Location

3-Ty-Gwyn is a stone's throw away from direct views of the famous Portmeirion; very special indeed. A 5 minute drive to the south will bring you to Harlech which is home to the Castle, an incredible beach and a good selection of cafes, restaurants and gift shops. Porthmadog, a bigger town is 10 mins north.

This part of Snowdonia is a great place to stay for exploring other parts of the area; the Llyn Peninsula is only 30 mins away heading west and 30 - 40 mins east will take you into the heart of the mountains where there are countless things to do and beautiful towns to visit.

Alongside the traditional past times of walking, climbing and beach days that the area is famous for, the last few years have seen the introduction to some of the world’s best adventure activities including Zipworld and Surf Snowdonia. The mountain biking options are amazing with the award winning trails at Coed Y Brenin within an hours drive.

A plethora of culture and history is on your doorstep with castles, Portmeirion Village, art galleries, gardens and lots of local crafts. There really is something for everyone.

Just back from a wonderful week at Ty Gwyn. Very cosy, clean and comfortable cottage with everything you need and lots of very hot water. Tall folk beware of the low ceiling at the entrance to the kitchen though! The cottages and the old house opposite have alot of history attached to them which is fascinating to google. So lovely just to walk from the cottage down to the beautiful estuary or across the fields and marshes watching the wildlife. Stunning views across to Snowdon and the Moelwyns from the seats at the top of the road. We also enjoyed having a cuppa on the new bench in the back garden. We visited the beaches at Harlech, Llandanwg, Morfa Buchan (Black Rock Sands) and Barmouth. Also lovely gardens at Plas Brondanw, home of Clough Williams-Ellis of Portmeirion fame.
In this time of Covid-19, it was lovely to feel you had escaped away from it all to somewhere peaceful, quiet and safe.

A delightful cosy cottage in a quiet but good location for exploring both the beautiful coast and the mountains.
We found the cottage very clean on arrival. It was cosy and warm on the chilly evenings but we made use of the garden for evening drinks when it was sunny. The beds were comfortable and the shower was excellent; lots of hot water!
The owners were very helpful and a minor problem was sorted very quickly.
There’s easy parking opposite the cottage and great views across the estuary just a few minutes walk away.

We enjoyed a lovely long weekend break. The cottage was warm, cosy & spotlessly clean. Thank you for the welcome pack, we enjoyed cheese on toast & Welsh cakes on our first evening. Perfect location for exploring Snowdonia. We visited Criccieth, Caernarfon & Harlech Castles. Would advise pre booking the train up Snowdon, it was amazing, as was the drive along the Llanberis pass. Harlech had some lovely restaurants but we opted for returning to the cottage & lighting the wood burner with a Chinese from the Golden Inn on Sunday night after a full day visiting Portmeirion & Snowdon summit. Excellent value for money, thanks you 🙂

Lovely cosy cottage in beautiful location. Stunning views across estuary to Snowdon. Lots to do. Kids loved the climbing wall and swimming pool in Harlech on wet days and Bounce Below at slate caverns.Cycling and walking a plenty within half hour drives in all directions. Walking to Beddgelert from Pont Aberglaslyn along river was lovely. Also enjoyed Ffestiniog railway.
Plenty of hot water and good heating which helped us dry out our wet clothes on occasions. We would definitely return here.

Comfortable cottage in rural North Wales. Nice garden, lovely views across the estuary to portmeirion. Well located Harlech sandy beach & Castle, and 30 mins drive to Snowdonia for walks.
