With views over Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) and the Welsh Highland Railway, Bron-Eifion is the quintessential Eryri (Snowdonia) cottage. Located right at the foot of the tallest peak in Wales, the cottage shares the valley with the Welsh Highland Steam Railway as it pushes its way from Beddgelert to the south up to Rhyd Ddu station and then on to Caernarfon in the north.

But I should talk about the cottage first. It’s a semi detached cottage on the outskirts of Rhyd Ddu in the heart of Eryri. It’s been immaculately decorated and furnished by Jane, the owner and her taste and attention to detail are evident throughout the property.

Downstairs the cosy lounge opens out onto the adjoining and spacious dining room. A log fire and tasteful fixtures and fitting ensure that this living space is comfortable and welcoming.

A traditional and well-equipped country kitchen is located to the rear of the cottage. Cream fitted units including a dishwasher and fridge are topped by a beach block worktop. A washing machine and tumble dryer are available in the utility room accessed via the small rear courtyard.

Three bedrooms upstairs. Both the large king sized bedroom and the smaller single bedroom enjoy panoramic views towards Yr Wyddfa. The third twin bedroom over looks the garden to the rear of the property. Again, all the bedding and soft furnishings are beautifully chosen and create a sense of elegant sophistication. Finally the large bathroom accommodates a pastel painted vanity unit and a large bath with shower over.

Location

Outside a small courtyard area leads onto a larger enclosed garden area with raised decking area and storage shed. The views have to be seen to be believed. This is the Eryri of story books and postcards. And it’s right on your doorstep.

Truly a walker’s paradise, keen ramblers need never step back into the car as miles and miles of footpaths are accessible right from your doorstep including the famous Rhyd Ddu Path leading to the summit of Yr Wyddfa. There’s also a local pub 200m down the road, so again there’s really no need to pick up those car keys during your stay.

And you don’t have to be a train fanatic to appreciate the brave little steam locomotives as they fight their way up the valley opposite the cottage. Pulling their load of enthusiastic holidaymakers through some of the most beautiful and rugged scenery in the UK.

All the other activities associated with North Wales are within easy reach including fishing, horse riding, mountain biking and rock climbing. Beddgelert, a picturesque and popular tourist village is 5 minutes to the south of the cottage while the larger town of Caernarfon is 15 minutes to the north.

We stayed here last week and for the price £116 a night we were disappointed. The cottage is in need of decorating as you can see where the paint has been touched up especially in the bathroom the rear bedroom smelt very damp. They left us a welcome basket which consisted of a fruit cake a bottle of cider coffee pods although know instructions how to use the machine and Soap now being at the bottom of Snowdon Bread and Milk instead of soap would be good we have stayed at many locations and from the pictures it’s quite deceiving the steps up are very steep and slippy when wet as was the back garden we had 4 logs which with the temperature dropping was also disappointing the heating we found out was on a timer which the owner set to come on in a morning at 7.00am for an hour then again at 6.00pm. They is an override switch which we had to contact the lovely housekeeper for she was lovely with it being cold bought us a bag of logs kindling and fire lighters for free the logs we found out could be bought from the pud @ £7 a bag around 12 logs we got through 3 bags while we were there a the heating in the kitchen doesn’t work so it’s very cold. And also the cooker hob didn’t work so we ended up having to use the oven all the time. The view was spectacular but on reading reviews we were looking forward to the cottage itself we even left a day early we aren’t one of those who moans at all but all the reviews seem to be published if they are good reviews just like the guest book which has pages torn out ??? Wouldn’t recommend Sorry honest review

We had a fabulous stay in this wonderful cosy cottage, Bron-Eifion. The views and local walks were fantastic. We would recommend the walk through the woods to Beddgelert, and then catch the train back. And of course with the magical view of Snowdon from the cottage the Rhyd ddu path was worth the challenge of getting to the top. The pub in the village is friendly and serves food, it gets busy at the weekends so book.

The cottage was traditional and atmospheric. Lovely views and setting plus good for accessing both Snowdonia and the coast. Would help to have some instructions on appliances and perhaps a few basics as always hard to know what to bring.

First impression on arriving was Wow! The view was stunning, for us the house was to near the road with a 14 month old puppy. On entering the house we felt at home straight away, nicely decorated, homely, and everything was provided for us to make our stay comfortable.
Thank you for letting us stay in Bron-Eifion, we had an amazing three days and didnt want to leave, we will be booking again next year.

Thank you once again

We had a lovely stay at the cottage. It’s a quirky and quaint place with stunning views just outside your front door. We took the Rhyd Ddu path up Snowdon and did a lovely walk to Beddgelert – both walks start really close to the house. there was a lovely welcome basket and they were kind enough to put out a cot bed and high chair for our little one (on our request). Overall, we had a lovely stay and would certainly love to return to Bron Eifion.

We had the most wonderful stay at the cottage. Its positioning at the foot of Snowdon is unmatched by any other place we have stayed in before. We enjoyed the breathtaking views each time we looked out the window and when sitting in the garden eating breakfast. The cottage is beautifully furnished and is very practical. We found all the cooking equipment we needed for preparing our meals. The beds were comfy and the whole place was very clean. We were greeted with a complementary basket of goodies on arrival – thank you! The holiday company looking after the property were great at communication throughout our stay and provided us with a link to what to do in the area. We had a wonderful rest enjoying God’s creation and having a wonderful place to stay in

Bron Eifion is a beautiful, well equipped cottage in a stunning location. It was the perfect base to explore North Wales, and of course to climb Snowdon. We followed the owner’s recommendation and took the Snowdon Ranger’s Path, which gave the most fantastic views.

We had a fabulous stay at this gorgeous property. The house is lovely with everything you could need, definitely a home from home. The view from the house is beautiful and in a great location for walking and for going off and visiting other areas. We would definitely recommend a visit and will hopefully be back in the future.
