Cute stone holiday cottage full of character | Bryn Bach

X4
Real Fire
Bala

Bryn Bach is a cute stone holiday cottage full of character with panoramic views in Bala. Two bedrooms, sleeping four, it is the quintessential getaway overlooking the mountains and lake.

As you turn off from the main road and drive down the farm track, it's easy to see that the location is really special. Set on the side of a hill, it is protected from the elements on the one side whilst having beautiful views on the other, giving a real sense of tranquility and peacefulness.

Coming straight into the dinning room, the homely cottage feel to the room is immediate; a lovely round oak dining table with modern chairs gives you the feel for the rest of the cottage - traditional and original features complemented with modern touches.

Through to the galley kitchen, it has been simply designed but gives you everything you will need to cater for your group - the blue colour used here and throughout the rest of the house looks great and makes all the rooms feel very airy and clean.

The sitting room also comes off from the kitchen. As soon as you enter the room you are greeted with the most incredible view - the patio doors that run the length of the far wall make you feel like you are sitting in the mountains - really! A lovely spacious room with clean modern blue sofas, wooden floorboards, a log burner and TV make this room perfect to chill out in and escape.

There is a twin room on the ground floor with an ensuite bathroom with shower - beautifully decorated and lovely woollen throws that add that cosy touch. Upstairs takes you to the master bedroom; an apex ceiling and more lovely soft furnishings make it a really lovely room to stay in. There is another ensuite bathroom up here with both a shower and a bath and as you would expect, like the rest of the house, beautifully finished.

Location

This cute stone holiday cottage full of character is located just on the outskirts of Bala. The cottage itself has plenty of outside space, both enclosed for your personal use and out and beyond to the lakes and the mountains in front and the woods to the side.

Only 5 mins from Bala town centre where you will find a nice selection of gift and antique shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants - certainly plenty to do to while away an afternoon there. The Bala Lake Railway is also here which is a steam train that goes around the lake and into the mountains - a great way to see the local landscape and scenery.

The largest lake in Wales is found in Bala, Llyn Tegid, and there is plenty to do here including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, canoeing and SUP - there are plenty of activity providers in the area that you can book through to take advantage of these activities. 10 mins away is the National White Water Centre, the best place in the UK to try white water rafting and so if it is something you are looking to do, make sure you have a go here!

Further to the East is the Rhug Estate which is a great place to go for lunch and has a lovely farm shop, but if you are looking for something super swanky, then dinner at Pale Hall should be on your list - After all Queen Victoria stayed there!

Walking and cycling are huge in the area - there are some incredible routes, including cycling over Bwlch Y Groes which is the highest road pass in Wales. Walking through the Berwyn mountains is on the top of many a persons to do list as is the drive through them to Pistyll Rhaeadr, the highest waterfall in Wales.

Within an hours drive, you have access to the best mountain biking trails in the country, Zip World and Portmeirion - so many things you can tick off a bucket list here!!!

Had a fantastic weekend at the cottage very well equipped and clean in a stunning quiet location. Could do with more signage from road to the cottage it’s a bit confusing to find and maybe a grill tray for oven.

We were four adults staying in the cottage. It was an incredibly beautiful location! The house was very clean and nicely furnished. Nevertheless we did expect a welcome pack of some sort. Additionally we were missing some things in the kitchen like washing tablets, tea towels and cleaning products.
Despite this, we very much enjoyed our stay at the lovely cottage! Definetely a recommendation!

Lovely cottage. Looks a little tied than in the video.
I think a welcome pack is very much needed for the price. We booked for the weekend and I didn’t figure I’d need to remember a dish washer tablet or dish cloth to be honest. We take good care of the places we stay and not having the basic cloth to wipe down surfaces and having to buy a box of dishwashing tablets was unexpected. A bottle of milk for those arriving late in the evening would be most welcome

We had a wonderful stay at Bryn-Bach cottage. Lovely secluded location but short drive to Bala for amenities.
The cottage was well decorated and equipped, it was very comfortable.

We were four adults staying in the cottage and it was just perfect. The heating kept us very warm and the fire added an extra cozy feel. We enjoyed the sitting room with the floor to ceiling Windows which give us a wonderful view down towards the lake. I would however suggest that anyone visiting should be aware that the track leading up to the cottage is quiet rough and pot holed and as we were both in very low cars it was a bit of a slow and careful approach. We did however have a taxi to take us to Pale Hall and that car had no difficulty. Highly recommended.

Myself and 2 sisters chose this cottage as its in an area of Wales we know and love, plus it had the setup we wanted; 1 double room & 1 twin room with en-suites. We arrived at the cottage on Friday just after 4pm to find that the cottage had no heat on, there were no logs to light a fire and the twin room had been set up as a double. As advised, I rang the cottage owner and she was great. She apologised and within 15 minutes someone had fetched us some logs and had reset the heating. It took until Saturday morning for the cottage to feel warm enough though but we were grateful for the logs which kept us toasty. I wished I’d said something about not having twin beds at the time of my call but the owner was so apologetic and I thought the lack of heat was more important to sort at the time. Also I’d emailed Dioni the week before to make sure that we did have twin beds so didn’t think the fault was entirely hers. The location, scenery and the cottage overall were amazing but if I’m honest our mini trip was spoiled a little by the fact we were a bit chilly on the first night and we didn’t have twin beds as advertised (see room plan). Would definitely stay again though! 😊

The most beautiful spot for a holiday cottage. We felt very relaxed as it was in such a quiet location. The cottage was finished to a very high standard with lovely homely touches. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this cottage to anyone who is seeking a holiday in a peaceful location with stunning views.

We’ve just returned from a lovely stay at Bryn Banon Bach, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
The cottage befits its location, and has the perfect blend of space and cosiness, never ever feeling cluttered.
There’s loads of storage space, large windows, every one with a view, and the whole house is very thoughtfully and creatively finished.
It’s in a wonderful setting with beautiful views both near and far – very far.
There’s always something to see : sheep, cows, all types of birds,
mountains and hills, both rocky and soft, and of course the wonderful dramatic Welsh weather.
This all gives a nice warm feeling of both being homely and on holiday somewhere special to give inner peace and joy.

Flora and Richard are perfect hosts, we were both sad to leave and wish we could have stayed a lot longer.
Very highly recommended indeed !

Alan and Elisabeth
