Cute Bungalow Walking Distance From The Beach | Bryn-Yr-Aur

Bryn-Yr-Aur is a cute bungalow walking distance from the beach in Llanfair, near Harlech. This three bedroom cottage which can sleep up to six people has that real unpretentious home from home feel to it and provides a great base for families or friends wanting that traditional sea side holiday. A big lawned garden with lots of hidden seating in quiet corners is another real plus in this one.

A modern kitchen houses a traditional gas hob and eye level oven under a white worktop. The dining area at the far end is a little smaller but, like the rest of the cottage, there are some lovely personal touches such as the hand painted dining chairs and home made seat covers.

A fantastic log burner takes centre stage in the adjoining lounge. Opposite, a large south facing picture window commands a fantastic view down to the beaches of Shell Island. An eclectic mix of ornaments and furniture ensures that the relaxed and homely feel prevails.

Two bathrooms, one with just a WC and washbasin and a second with a shower over bath arrangement plus washbasin. Finally, we have two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom. All on the ground floor of course. All of the bedrooms are nice and bright and include individual and carefully chosen pieces of bedroom furniture.

Location

The cottage is surrounded on three sides by big lawned areas of grass. So plenty of places for you to sunbath throughout the day. There are lots of hidden seats and benches dotted around in shady corners if you want to escape the mid day sun however. The village of Llanfair is very quiet but has a fantastic and quiet sandy beach at the bottom of what is know locally as the zig zag path.

Harlech, about a mile north, is slightly busier. There are a couple of really nice cafes in town two, a couple of pubs and a couple of restaurants to choose from and the world famous castle is a must see of course. The Harlech Royal St David’s links golf course is world-renowned and must have some of the prettiest views of any course in the country.

About 20 minutes to the North, the larger harbour town of Porthmadog has a bigger selection of shops including some larger supermarkets. While the ever-popular seaside resort of Barmouth, 15 minutes to the south has plenty of pubs and traditional seaside fair. Mount Snowdon is about 30 minutes away in the car but I would encourage guests to discover the less well-trodden hills and mountains that rise up just behind the cottage.

Can’t thank Meg enough for the letting us stay in her fantastic Harlech cottage. Location is perfect, with beaches within walking distance, and the garden for the dogs was ideal, and delicious fresh cream scones at the near by Slate Mines Cafe, Also thanks to Katie for her help and and the rest of the Dioni staff for making things so easy to book. Look forward to our next visit to Bryn Yr Aur. Trev, Shirl ,Terry and Chris and the dogs

Excellent cottage, great location for fabulous beach via the steps. Views of sea and mountains from cottage and garden fantastic – the brochure description of the cottage should make more of that! We were fortunate enough to have a couple of clear nights and the dark sky made for great star gazing and the Milky Way was clearly visible. Great sunset views too.

This was our second visit to Bryn yr Aur ,we had a lovely stay the sea views and sunsets from Llanfair are amazing. The weather was not kind to us this holiday but didn’t prevent us from enjoying the break. Highly recommend a visit to Y Grocer for shopping. Harlech beach is beautiful views of Llyn peninsula and Yr Wyddfa on a clear day.

5 star holiday, we absolutley loved it. The cottage was beautiful, really clean and lots of space for our family (2 adults, a 3 year old, a baby and a dog).
The garden and outside table were fantastic and we had lots of evening meals together in the sun.
Great walk for the dog down the road onto an enormous beach, but the steps were a bit steep for our little girl but thanks to the very helpful host, we found a beach at Llandanwg where the car park is right next to the beach and its a1 minute drive from the house.
I highly recommend the family farm (again, just a 1 minute drive), lovely coffee and lunches and plenty to keep our daughter busy for hours.
We also spent the day at Greenwood Park and could take the dog there too.
We had beach days, went to Barmouth for an icecream and fish and chips on the beach after the arcades, went into Harlech and round the castle and the local shop to get some good coffee and wine.
There’s so much to do locally, or if we wanted to relax at the cottage then there was lots of space and we could all watch a film together or play games in the living room.
I highly recommend this place, it was absolutely perfect for a family holiday, but I’d also go with the girls for a nice break.
Thanks so much for a great stay, Meg

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Bryn-Yr-Aur. It is a really really nice cottage, gardens on three sides of the property which the two pups enjoyed exploring/running around, private parking, and amazing views. It had every needed, welcome pack on hand as well. And most of all it was soooo soooo quiet and peaceful, all that needed was amazing sunshine which we got. Great location to head off on walks, not far from Harlech Castle, Harlech beach, etc. From booking, arriving to holiday finish, everything was so easy and stress free, good communication from Dioni and Meg (owner). It is definitely a place where you can unwind and relax, I will definitely go back x

Just got back from a really lovely family week away at Meg`s beautiful cottage as everyone else has said the cottage is great for all local villages and towns it was spotless well equipped and everything was there that you would need for a week away, great walks for our little dog and even our 16yr old city boy loved the tranquil peace and quite.
we have already rebooked for July and so looking forward to staying at Bryn-Yr- Aur …. Had a call with the owner Meg and she is lovely and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay and if we needed anything to let her know what more can you ask for.
