Deep in the heart of Eryri (Snowdonia), Clogwyn-Annexe is a stunning and stylish one bedroom accommodation at the foot of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). This small but perfectly formed cottage is one of four holiday properties set on a farm in a lovely rural location, surrounded with beautiful mountain views. Perfect for walkers and hikers, the property is located near one of quieter routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa.

Tucked away to the rear of the building, the door to the single storey property opens into the kitchen area of a beautiful open plan living space. Combining contemporary with traditional, the walls are finished in pale Farrow & Ball colours, contrasting against the dark slate floor tiles of the kitchen. The U-shaped kitchen units are finished in a cream colour to the front and stylish stainless steel handles, with an oak effect worktop. There are plenty of storage cupboards, alongside an electric oven with hob, fridge freezer, washing machine, kettle and toaster. A large window looks out over the beautiful private garden, with lawn and seating areas - perfect for warm summer evenings.

Continuing through into the luxuriously furnished lounge diner, the tiled floor is replaced by plush carpet and a large rug to the centre. An antique armchair of walnut and green velvet construction sits alongside a comfortable modern beige two seater sofa in the cosy lounge area, complemented by a walnut glass fronted dresser and side table. Traditional ornaments and paintings hang on the wall, and an ornate glass chandelier features in the centre of the ceiling. The opposite side of the room provides a beautiful walnut finish dining table for two next to the window, perfect for a romantic dinner date with wine by candlelight, after a day out exploring the beauty of the surrounding area.

A door from the living space leads into the double bedroom of the stylish one bedroom accommodation at the foot of Yr Wyddfa. The compact bedroom features a beautiful wooden framed double bed finished in a pale blue green. The soft fresh white bedding is brightened up with floral patterned cushions with splashes of pink and green - the theme continuing in the curtains. A bedside table with lamp is located to one side of the double bed, and the opposite site of the bedroom includes a side table and comfortable armchair. A door opens into a built-in wardrobe, providing ample clothes storage space. Completing the layout of the cottage, a door from the kitchen leads into a good sized bathroom with sink, WC and large walk in shower cubicle. A built-in storage cupboard allows plenty of space for toiletries.

Location

Located just outside the village of Rhyd Ddu between Caernarfon and Beddgelert, Clogwyn-Annexe is ideally situated for outdoor lovers and hikers. The rural farm setting is a great base from which to explore Eryri on foot, with a number of footpaths and hiking trails nearby. A fifteen minute walk will take you into the village where you'll find a great country pub, ideal for dinner and drinks. There's also a wonderful tearoom located in the village. The Rhyd Ddu Path to the summit of Yr Wyddfa begins on the outskirts of the village, so the car can be left at the cottage, saving on parking costs (or finding a parking space). The quietest of the six main routes to the summit of Yr Wyddfa, the Rhyd Ddu Path is a 7.5 mile round trip hike to the summit, providing epic viewpoints of the spectacular Eryri landscape.

To the rear of your stylish one bedroom accommodation at the foot of Yr Wyddfa, you might be lucky to experience the sounds and smells of the Welsh Highland Railway which passes nearby on its way to Caernarfon or Porthmadog. There's a station at Rhyd Ddu, where you can take the journey in either direction. Nearby, the beautiful and popular mountain village of Beddgelert is a mere 10 minute drive. Explore the cute shops and cafes of the village, relax near the river or visit Gelert's grave and learn about the story of the legendary dog belonging to Llywelyn the Great. Beddgelert provides the base for a number of scenic walks including a riverside hike through the dramatic Aberglaslyn Gorge.

Explore further afield and head deep into the slate landscape of Wales in Llanberis. Visit the National Slate Museum, or take a hike through Dinorwic Quarry, providing some dramatic scenery and views of Yr Wyddfa. Thrill seekers should head to Zip World Penrhyn Quarry and try out Velocity 2, the world's fastest zip line. The town of Caernarfon is a twenty minute drive, where visitors can explore the imposing 13th century Caernarfon Castle or explore the towns shops and restaurants.

We loved Clogwyn-Annexe. Everything works perfectly and it is very clean and comfortable.  The location is very good.  Lots of walks from the cottage and it is a short drive to Beddgelert, a village we loved, so picturesque with good places to eat.  We enjoyed a delicious breakfast at Prince Llewelyn Hotel and a lovely dinner at Hebog Bistro.

Looking forward to staying again.
