For a taste of luxury and opulence from the Victorian era, Coedfa Bach is the perfect property. An elegant Victorian residence in rugged Eryri, this historic building sits nestled in woodland and sleeps up to four across two beautiful bedrooms. This spacious property with ample private gardens is ideal for a small family group and is only a few minutes from the village centre of Betws-y-Coed, the gateway to Eryri (Snowdonia).

The property - an annex to a former Victorian Estate Hall most likely used as servants quarters in days gone by, is accessed from a private driveway. A door leads into a small hallway providing access to the ground floor rooms of the property including a bathroom, kitchen diner and lounge area. The kitchen is cosy and traditional, with a mix of wood and brick built units and a dark stone top. With a double oven and hob, alongside a sink and fridge, the kitchen is compact but ideal for rustling up a quick meal or breakfast. With a four seater square dining table with three chairs and a wooden bench, the room is finished with a traditional original slate and one exposed stone wall.

Next to the kitchen, a beautiful bathroom really shows off the opulence of this property. With walls adorned in rich green wooden panelling and Victorian tiles along with gold wallpaper above, the brass and gold fixtures and fitting are beautiful. A tall freestanding Copper Bathtup with nickel inner sits against the rear wall on stone flooring. Alongside the bathtub, a matching basin sits on a counter constructed of slate and brick. This incredible bathroom is a dream, and spending time having a relaxing soak in here shouldn't be missed. Completing the ground floor layout of Coedfa Bach is the beautiful lounge area, packed full of charm and character. Exposed ceiling beams and slate flooring run throughout the room and a large stone inglenook fireplace is home to an inviting log burner. With a TV located in the corner of the room, a plush fabric sofa and two armchairs provide the perfect setting to snuggle up with a good book, or to catch up on a TV boxset.

From the hallway, the stairway of this elegant Victorian residence in rugged Eryri leads upstairs to two bedrooms and a shower room. The largest of the two bedrooms is a quirky shape thanks to a large stone chimney breast running through. Located centrally in the room, an iron 4 poster double bed is flanked by a circular antique bedside cabinet, facing a large window looking out onto the surrounding landscape. The stained wooden floorboards and window surround, along with the neutral shades of decoration, add a warmth to the space. To the opposite side of the landing, the second bedroom is set up as a children's room with two iron twin single beds set against an exposed stone wall, separated by a quirky bedside cabinet made to look like a stack of books. The final room of Coedfa Bach is a shower room complete with walk in glass shower cubicle with rain forest head, WC and sink. A bright but compact space decorated in white and blue, the deep window surrounds show the exposed stonework of the property.

Location

Nestled in woodland, the setting of Coedfa Bach is fantastic to surround yourself in nature and enjoy the great outdoors. The private driveway leads to a large gravelled space to the front of the house, surrounded by landscaped gardens. Exiting through the front door, a beautifully manicured lawn sits alongside a gravelled patio area with outdoor furniture and a door from the lounge also leads onto a tiled slate patio with further seating to the front of the house. With a woodland backdrop and views across to the pine trees of Gwydir Forest to the other side of the valley, this picturesque property is a great location for your Betws-y-Coed stay.

There's no better starting point for exploring Eryri than Betws-y-Coed. Known as the gateway to Snowdonia, this charming mountain community is a bustling centre for tourists, brimming with outdoor and gift shops, cafes, restaurants, and bars. There are lots of possibilities to explore on foot without even getting in the car, all within fifteen minutes' walk from your gorgeous Victorian home. Many hikes from Betws-y-Coed head into the neighbouring pine forests or follow the river that flows through the centre of the village. Put on your hiking boots or get on your mountain bike and go exploring the local beauty spots of Gwydir Forest Park and Llyn Elsi. A couple of miles away, the stunning Rhaeadr Ewynnol, also known as Swallow Falls, is one of Wales' most breathtaking waterfalls and a must visit.

There are also plenty of exciting surrounding activities to get your heart rate up. The Fforest Coaster and several other exhilarating attractions can be found at Zip World Fforest, which is located nearby. On a toboggan with fast twists and turns, speed through the forest at 25 mph, or test your nerve by standing on a trapdoor 100 feet above the earth and taking a freefall drop on Plummet. In the caverns beneath Eryri, the neighbouring Go Below provides zip lines, via ferrata, and other underground experiences.

Heading deeper into the national park, all the main hotspots are within a thirty minutes’ drive, or if you’re looking for quieter hikes away from the crowds then the Carneddau mountain range offers some fabulous walks with wonderful views of the surrounding landscapes, stretching as far as the North Wales coast. Wanting to stay local? Betws-y-Coed has everything you need, from cafes and restaurants to attractions and outdoor spaces. Whatever your plans, this elegant Victorian residence in rugged Eryri is the ideal spot to soak up the beautiful surroundings of the area.
