Self Catering Accommodation on a Working Farm | Faeldre

X5
Near BeachFarm Stay
Barmouth

Faeldre offers self catering accommodation on a working farm and only a short drive from the beach. The westernmost corner of this large and historic farmhouse has been recently renovated into a 3 bedroom holiday cottage.

The spectacular sea views from the large picture windows combined with tasteful decor, original features and luxurious modern touches creates a perfect base for your Snowdonia holiday.

You enter the cottage through a central porched doorway. The lounge is to the left, the kitchen-diner is to the right. In the lounge, two modern leather sofas sit facing onto a large flat screen TV on a plush new carpet. Whilst in the kitchen-diner the square dining table and chairs sit on a more traditional slate floor. Modern kitchen units house all the essential appliances. The slate flooring continues on into the ground floor bathroom. This includes a nice yet simple suit and a large walk in shower. All the slate flooring in kitchen, bathroom and hallway are heated underfloor – so rest assured you will have a warm and cosy welcome!

A second bathroom can be found on the first floor landing. Again we have a large walk in shower as well as a separate bath. Everything is beautifully tiled is soft subtle shades. 3 bedrooms upstairs. The double bedroom, like everywhere else, is beautifully decorated and has the luxury of a walk in wardrobe. The twin room is in the older part of the house and, as a result, has a lovely high ceiling and a tall grand window, helping guests enjoy that spectacular sea view. The third single bedroom is smaller and should probably be classed as a child’s room although it has a full sized bed.

Location

The cottage is at the end of a private drive leading off the Cambrian coast road half way between Harlech and Barmouth on the western edge of Snowdonia. Llanbedr, the nearest village has a butchers and small grocery shop as well as two pubs serving food.

The larger towns of Barmouth and Harlech offer a wider selection of shops and restaurants perhaps and are 10 minutes away by car. The area’s most obvious draw is the miles of beautifully clean sandy beaches nearby. Many walkers will also naturally head towards Snowdon during their stay, a 35 minute drive to the north. But guests should also take the opportunity to explore the rugged Rhinog mountains which are just behind the cottage.

Other activities within a short car journey include mountain biking at Coed Y Brenin, white water rafting at Tryweryn and pony trekking in Betws Y Coed. Smaller independent activity providers will also take you gorge walking, kite surfing, climbing etc. Too many to mention.

You can’t drive for more than five minutes in this area without passing an ancient burial ground, castle or some sort of historic monument. And our more recent industrial past can be re-lived with trips on narrow gauge steam railways and by exploring underground slate mines.

Or, you could just sit on the patio, read a book, drink a glass of wine and watch the sun go down.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage with my wife and three children. Really well equipped cottage and super clean and tidy. Couldn`t recommend this place enough. Views are amazing – beautiful part of the world with plenty of walks and glorious beaches. Our hosts were really accomodating and friendly. Diolch yn fawr i’r teulu ar y ferm Faeldre.

Stunning cottage in a lovely location. Donna was very welcoming and helpful with lots of information about the area. Faeldre is such a cosy and comfortable cottage presented to the highest standard, we had everything we needed for our stay. The kids loved watching the work going on around the farm.

A lovely quiet place to stay, we took my parents and Aunt for the weekend. The cottage was beautifully decorated very clean and had everything we needed, with a lovely view across the fields to the sea. Lovely food in the Victoria Inn just up the road, Barmouth is close by which has a lovely beach and seafront. Hope to return again.

Faeldre is highly recommended. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in! It\’s been converted to a high standard, is spacious enough for 5, extremely clean and well equipped. Set on a working farm (sheep & non-milking cows) in a beautiful rural location with fantastic views from the patio of the sun setting over the Llyn Peninsula. The property is close to both Barmouth and Harlech and an easy drive to great places for eating out including Ysgethin Inn, Talybont and the cafe balcony at Harlech castle (delicious cakes). Donna and the Thomas family are lovely, very welcoming and just next door if needed. Faeldre benefits from 2 large bathrooms, comfortable lounge and bedrooms, great kitchen, picture windows and the added bonus of a field where children can play safely. Smaller separate 2 person property Gegin-Faeldre is just behind – perfect.

This was our second stay at Faeldre. It is a beautiful cottage in a great location with stunning views and hospitable owners on hand to help if needed. The beaches in this area are hard to beat, it’s great walking territory and there are plenty of places to visit within easy driving distance, Portmeirion being a favourite of ours. Can highly recommend Faeldre for a relaxing break.

My wife and I had a lovely week’s stay at Faeldre. The accommodation had been beautifully converted and there was everything a family could need, including two shower rooms! The kitchen had been modernised to a high standard and the owners were very welcoming. It’s location is quite superb with views over farmland to the sea. Also views towards the Llyn Peninsula. In the evening there are stunning sunset views as the sun sinks behind the Llyn. Although this is a working farm it is a quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle of town/ city life. It is a great location to explore the broader western and north western coastline of Wales or visit Snowdonia if you do not mind crowds!! Highly recommended.

Just what the doctor ordered! Fantastic cottage with amazing views. The children absolutely loved being on the farm and seeing the animals on their doorstep. Clean, quiet and modern cottage which was well equipped. Great location in between Barmouth and Harlech. Would love to return!
