Situated in Denbighshire on the banks of the River Dee, Flyfishers is a stunning historic property with wonderful countryside views. This three bedroom barn conversion by the river has been tastefully refurbished to include all the contemporary conveniences for a pleasant and relaxing stay. Located on the secluded Rivercatcher complex of converted cottages and log cabins, this property accommodates six guests and is surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, with views of the river and private outdoor space.

A paved ramp leads up to the front door of this dog friendly property into a hallway leading to the bedrooms and open plan living space, which is accessed via a number of steps due to the split level of the building. With a pitched ceiling showing the exposed beams of the barn, a stone tiled floor runs through from the lounge area into the kitchen and dining space beyond. An inviting log burner situated in the corner of the lounge on a stone hearth is perfect for the cosy winter evenings and two fabric sofas positioned in an L shape offer warmth to the space with red and orange fabrics. With a Smart TV located in the corner, this is a fabulous room to settle down and relax for the evening after a day out exploring.

With a large kitchen and dining area, Flyfishers includes all the facilities for a fully self-catered break if desired. An L shaped kitchen suite of shaker style units with a cream finish and dark stone effect tops has a built in fridge freezer and dishwasher, alongside a built in oven and hob. There is plenty of counter and storage space in this kitchen, to assist catering for a larger group. To the left of the room, a farmhouse style dining table for six is located in a bright spot next to the window - a perfect position for a relaxing breakfast or a sumptuous dinner in the evening. Looking around the space the artwork, ceramics and soft furnishings provide a nod to the name of the property with fishing related themes.

This versatile property features three bedrooms, one bedroom with a super king sized bed an the other with a king size bed on the ground floor and a twin bedroom on the first floor, with one of the doubles able to be converted to a twin if desired. With an en-suite to the master bedroom there is a family bathroom serving the other two bedrooms. The family bathroom, located directly next to the lounge area, is a stylish space with a slate tiled floor and white and slate tiles to the walls. A double basin is located to the corner with storage drawers under, along with a walk in shower cubicle and WC. The major selling point here is a deep freestanding bathtub, calling out for a relaxing soak in the evening with a book or a glass of something refreshing, following a day out exploring.

Both ground floor bedrooms of this three bedroom barn conversion by the river are similarly decorated and styled. Once again the character of the building is complemented by the dark wood exposed ceiling beams and deep set windows. Divan beds, finished in a dark grey, include white Egyptian cotton bedding with throws and cushions in natural tones, their prints adding colour and depth. Cream coloured furniture include bedside cabinets, wardrobes and chests of drawers are present and there are wall mounted TV's, alongside artwork and prints. Both bedrooms are bright, spacious and comfortable and the master bedroom provides access to an en-suite with walk in shower cubicle, basin and WC.

Heading upstairs to the first floor, the third and final bedroom is a compact twin, built into the eaves of the building with two skylights. With two single beds separated by a bedside cabinet and lamp, there is also a dressing table, mirror and side chair. Pastel coloured herringbone throws, cushions and bunting on the back wall make this room ideally suited for children, but the full size single beds are also suitable for adults.

Accessed from the lounge area of Flyfishers, a wooden decked terrace provides direct views across the River Dee with a backdrop of rolling hills. This wonderful raised deck is the perfect outdoor space for socialising or purely relaxing and enjoying the natural surroundings of the property. With a six seater dining table and parasol, a barbeque is located nearby providing opportunities for some great alfresco dining in the evenings, Welsh weather permitting, of course. Alongside the dining area, rattan loungers and a side table are perfect for relaxing with a good book and catching some rays. Steps down lead to a lower level deck with a large hot tub, which is perfect for a soak under the dappled shade of the riverside trees. Offering complete privacy, this outdoor space also allows access to a lawn and is a wonderful space to relax.

Location

Given the stunning interiors and setting of this beautiful property, you'd be forgiven for wanting to stay here during the whole of your stay, but there is much to explore in the local area. The Rivercatcher site includes The Lodge - a games room which is only a few steps away from this three bedroom barn conversion by the river, providing a change of scenery for the teenagers and younger children. With table tennis and football, amongst other things, it's the perfect spot to while away a few hours. To stock up on supplies for a self-catering break, the fantastic Rhug Estate Farm Shop is located nearby, packed with local produce and a great cafe.

This property is in the perfect location for outdoor enthusiasts and those who enjoy water sports and activities, just fifteen minutes' drive from Bala. Llyn Tegid, also known as Bala Lake, is the largest natural lake in Wales, measuring four miles long and three quarters of a mile wide. There are many walking paths in the area, as well as heritage routes that are good for families and more strenuous walks that offer a greater challenge. Numerous activities are offered on the lake and in the surrounding region by the Bala Adventure and Watersports Centre, which is situated on the northern banks of Llyn Tegid. Have a go at one of the water sports, such as windsurfing, sailing, or kayaking; alternatively, rent a boat or paddle board and head out onto the water for a more leisurely experience. Mountain biking and abseiling are among the several activities also offered. The Bala Lake Railway is another popular attraction which provides a leisurely nine-mile round trip along the banks of Llyn Tegid, offering views of the lake as well as the breathtaking surroundings of the Snowdonia National Park.

Exploring the Denbighshire countryside further north and east, Flyfishers is a thirty minute drive from Ruthin, a market town full of charming buildings and timber-framed architecture that dates back hundreds of years. There are lots of restaurants to pick from, along with fantastic boutique stores, a craft centre, and a thriving food scene. Additionally, Llangollen, a charming historic riverbank town with the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is not too far away. Hikers can head to the Clwydian Range AONB, where there is access to endless hiking and walking trails nearby including Moel Famau, the highest peak in North East Wales. A rewarding hike to the Jubilee Tower at the summit will provide panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. Grab your hiking boots and take a walk on the Offa's Dyke Path through heather clad rolling hills and past ancient hillforts. Head further south into the unspoilt landscapes of the Ceiriog Valley where you can take walks through beautiful countryside without barely seeing a soul.

5 out of 5
We only live an hour away from this fantastic place and have already stayed 9 times since
2020 ! That in itself is a testament to how lovely the place is, the cottage, the setting but most
of all the staff, who really make the stay extra special. Long lazy days sitting out on the
decking, no matter what the weather, watching and listening to the wildlife, interspersed with
relaxing in the hot tub. Local walks, drives out to nearby beauty spots. Itā€™s our true home
from home and we feel the weight and pressures of our day jobs just fall away as soon as
we arrive. Looking forward to stay number 10 !!! šŸ™‚

Already Looking at re-booking
5 out of 5

This was an excellent experience from start to finish. The administration, organisation and
support throughout was unparalleled. You would be forgiven for thinking it is expensive, but
when you see the standard of accommodation and the stunning location you cannot fail to
appreciate that this is real VFM. We were joined mid-week by relatives and my brother-in-
law being a keen fisherman and table tennis (TT) player was in his element, fishing the
private stretch of water on the doorstep (literally!) and using the facilities offered in the Lodge
to play TT. The walking is superb, from the challenge of Snowden to the flat of the canal at

Llangollen. If you don’t feel like getting into the car just step over the threshold to be straight
into some of the most breath taking scenery anywhere. The tub at the end of the day was
icing on the cake! In summary – a great holiday1! We are already looking at re-booking!!
