Dog FriendlyReal FireFarm Stay
Bala

This pretty little bungalow with panoramic views is surrounded by rolling farmland, with hills and mountains beyond. Sleeps up to 5 guests in three bedrooms – a beautifully peaceful location in central North Wales.

The cottage is located on a working farm, tucked away in the hills to the north of Bala. It is a supremely green and pleasant part of Wales, sitting between the Clwydian mountains and Dee Valley to the east, and the Snowdonia National Park to the west. Your only neighbours are the local sheep and cows.

The ideal location for an active break in Eryri (Snowdonia), the cottage is around 15 minutes drive from the market town of Bala and Llyn Tegid (Bala lake).

Activities close at hand include all sorts of water sports, walking and bike trails, as well as adrenaline-fuelled adventures like alpine-style roller coasters, giant underground trampolines and zip lines.

The accommodation is bright, beautifully presented, contemporary and cheerful. It is unfussy, child-friendly and ideal for a family break.

There is an open plan kitchen diner which comes with a dining table which seats up to six. The kitchen is well equipped, and includes a washing machine, dishwasher, electric oven and hob. Patio doors open from the kitchen diner to an outside dining terrace and picnic table.

The living room has a large ‘L’ shaped sofa, with plenty of room for everyone to get comfy. There is a TV and a toasty woodburning stove. The far-reaching rural views from the living room windows are beautiful.

In this pretty little bungalow with panoramic views, there are three bedrooms; one double, one single and one with bunk beds. Each bedroom is very nicely presented, with a home-from-home feel. There is a shared family bathroom with bath and shower.

Outside, as well as the dining terrace, there is an enclosed, wrap-around garden to the front and rear, with green hills and countryside as far as the eye can see. It is a supremely lovely, private and peaceful location.

Location

If a beautiful, peaceful rural location is what you are after for your next UK staycation, then this could well be it. Located in the centre of North Wales, Hendre-Llangwm is extremely quiet and tucked away, but just a short drive from many of the region’s best adventures and attractions.

The market town of Bala is around 15 minutes drive from the cottage. Bala is home to the largest natural lake in Wales, and a whole host of water sports including white water rafting, sailing, kayaking and stand up paddle boarding. There is a wonderful steam train which huffs and puffs passengers up and down the lakeside.

Bala is a thriving town which is home to plenty of interesting shops, cafés and restaurants. There is usually a weekly farmers market which features tasty local treats every Monday from June to September (please check ahead of your visit). And if you like to sample local brews on your holidays, head to Stori Beers on Bala high street for an impressive selection of Welsh ales and gins.

The cottage is just a twenty minute drive from Betws y Coed, also known as the gateway to the Snowdonia National Park. Again, Betws is a thriving town with plenty to do and see, from galleries and bistros to outdoor gear shops. Betws is surrounded by the Gwydir forest which is home to family-friendly cycle trails, as well as the big climbs and descents of the Gwydir Mawr a Bach / the Marin Trail – a must-do for any serious mountain bike fan.

Nearby family-friendly attractions to this pretty little bungalow with panoramic views include Zip World Fforest with its forest zip safari, alpine roller coaster and tree top nets (20 minutes), and Bounce Below, Llechwedd Slate Caverns and Zip World Titan (40 minutes). Llyn Brenig, with its nature trails, trout fishing and adventure playground is just a 15 minute drive away.

The cottage is located on a working farm, tucked away in the hills to the north of Bala. You drive through the farmyard to get to the cottage.

What a lovely little bungalow, very well equipped with everything you need to make it a real home from home. The welcome pack of local bread, eggs and milk was lovely, and my partner Jackie appreciated the wine!
Such a quiet spot, and stunning views across the valley. The farm is actually very quiet, the calves were out in the field so the buildings were empty when we stayed, so we didn’t see a soul there all week.
The weather was typically Welsh but we visited lots of places and took a kayak out on the lake between rain showers. The lake railway is fun and the walk back (7 miles) was hard work at times but what fantastic views over the lake and towards the mountains.
Loved watching the baby rabbits in the garden at dusk, and there’s some lovely walks from the doorstep.
If you want some peace and quiet it’s perfect.
Could do with a mirror in the main bedroom but that’s a very minor thing.
Thanks for having us.

We have just got back from our week at the bungalow and we are already missing the amazing views. It was all extremely comfortable, and there was nothing we could have wished for in addition to what was already there. The house was very convenient for everything we wanted to do and we took daily walks around the local area. We absolutely loved our stay — thank you very much to all involved for making it perfect.

We stayed at this bungalow for 2 weeks this august 2022 and had the most marvellous time!
We were so super comfortable in this cosy, modern and cute bungalow and found it to be so child friendly and uncluttered.
The surrounding scenery was very peaceful, and the children really loved the animals surrounding us.
The Griffiths were so attentive to our needs.
An amazing refreshing break!!! Thank you!!

The bungalow is surrounded by beautiful countryside and stunning views. It’s really peaceful and an added bonus, for us, was having the horses to say hello to in the field opposite. The bungalow is well placed to explore Snowdonia National Park and the surrounding area. The bungalow was clean on our arrival, the beds were extremely comfortable and the shower was powerful. However, there were a few issues which we made the owner aware of and which she dealt promptly with. Also, we found lots of left food in the freezer, old toiletries in the bathroom cupboard and empty food wrappers in the cupboard. With a little bit more attention to detail the bungalow would be absolutely five star.

Spent 2 weeks at this lovely peaceful cottage with amazing views. So much to see and do in this area. There’s walks from the front door to the surrounding hills or short drives out to places like Betws y Coed, Bala or Llangollen…. for rail rides, biking, eating, drinking and exploring. Overall a great stay and can highly recommend

Stayed 1st few days of October 2021 and booked 5 nights but wish we had booked 7, the house is so pleasing on arrival and the views are truly breathtaking, we only had one day where there was any sun it rained all the others but the house and the views saved it, the house is everything we could have wished for and more, anything we needed and the house had it, so clean and tidy with attention to detail, both my husband and i were truly sorry to have left, also it was so peaceful and idyllic…one very small critisism was a mirror for the main bedroom wall would have been nice but as there was only 2 of us we managed with just the bathroom one…amazing place 🙂

This has to be one of the best holiday homes so far! Amazing views and everything on hand.. the view every morning was wales at its finest. I honestly could not fault it.. it was a pure delight to stay here, the farm was quiet and the weather fantastic.. lovely warm welcome and the wine wasn’t bad either… I for one can’t wait to return.

Absolutely fantastic place, lovely little bungalow & the scenic view was amazing only a couple of things, it was clean but not brilliant, we had to do some cleaning ourselves, bits of food left in shelfs & some left in the dishwasher & could do with a microwave but apart from that it was fantastic, highly recommended
