Pretty Holiday Cottage Near Llanberis | Mel-Y-Beren

Just back from a wonderful week at this lovely cottage. The owners went above and beyond throughout our stay – welcoming us with a basket of goodies upon arrival, loaning us some local area guide books during our stay and helping us find a trusted local garage when we had an unexpected warning light come up on our car towards the end of our week. They really couldn’t have been more kind or helpful! The house itself had everything we needed and was clean and well-looked after throughout. The cottage is in a great location for accessing all that Snowdonia has to offer, and while your neighbours are the cows, there is also a convenience store at the garage just a 5 minute walk away. Even as a family of 5 with three teenagers, we coped better than anticipated with the single bathroom/lack of separate toilet!! Eating meals on the front patio with the sun setting was the perfect way to relax and enjoy the surroundings after a busy day outdoors. Thanks for having us – we can’t wait to come back!

A beautiful house – spotlessly clean and well equipped. The views are amazing. The house is away from others so it is very peaceful but it is centrally situated in terms of road access and in easy reach of the surrounding area. The owners were lovely and very welcoming. If you like dark bedrooms, you might want to bring travel blackout blinds. A wonderful place, we’d gladly stay here again.

As other have said, this really is a hidden gem of a cottage.

The cottage was spotlessly clean and really felt like a home away from home during our week (in early June 2021). The cottage is so calm and tranquil, helped by the fantastic surroundings of local wildlife and the backdrop of Snowdonia. We also benefited from fantastic weather but I’m sure we would have felt the same in the middle of winter.

The owners were beyond helpful and their local insights helped locate a few hidden gems. However, saying that, the location is within reach of so many attractions / beaches / mountains that it was sometimes a challenge of fitting it all in.

We’d heartily recommend the cottage to anyone – you won’t be disappointed.

A lovely well-maintained cottage with all the amenities we needed. Surprisingly spacious inside with beautiful gardens and panoramic views outside. We enjoyed viewing the sunset over the sea in the evening at the front of the property. A nice mix of isolated privacy with wide open space! Together with the lovely welcome and friendly helpfulness of the hosts, who clearly take great care of the place, we can’t think of any way our experience could have been improved. Definitely recommended. We would gladly stay here again.

A beautiful, very well looked after house – it was spotless! The owners couldn’t have been more helpful and made our stay a very enjoyable one. We enjoyed watching the sun set most evenings from the front of the house, and also seeing the cows and sheep wandering around the surrounding fields. The local area has so much to offer and this is the perfect retreat at the end of a busy day.

This is a hidden gem of a holiday cottage. Immaculately clean throughout, and the most helpful owners, who were incredibly supportive after our arrival was delayed by a few hours. This is far more spacious than the photographs give the impression of, and is well-furnished and kitted out. It’s also a superb base for exploring the area, rain or shine. We loved the garden, especially the front table, with accompanying stunning sunsets (and the brook in the back).

This is a utterly stunning property. The gardens are beautiful, with so many flowers and a little stream, topped off with the views. Inside the property every room was lovely and has everything you could possibly need. We were greeted by a gift hamper and fresh flowers in the dining room and bedroom. Great added touch by the very attentive hosts. Couldn’t have asked for more. Highly recommended!

A wonderful place – the pictures don’t really do justice to the views from this lovely cottage. Just watching the sea and sunset from the top floors, or the rotating cast of animals (lambs, cows, and the occasional rabbit) from the kitchen is a great pastime.

Comfortable enough for a large family, and spotlessly clean.

16th March – 19th March 2020 – what a lovely welcome, great few days away with the family. Amazing views over breakfast, wonderful log fire – weather was ‘lush’.
This really is a home from home, honestly, one of the nicest places we have ever stayed. Cleanliness and everything thought of, from stair gates to hairdryers and it’s the best shower I’ve had in ages! The hamper on arrival did the trick and the honey is to die for (we will definitely be sending for some more) also will be in touch for Beekeeping advice. Only sad part about this holiday is that we have to cut it short due to ‘corona virus’ and a need to be home. Nothing can stop us from coming back again, can’t wait , also can’t recommend it enough to people we know. You have both created a real hidden gem – one word to sum everything up “Lush”.
PS: The welcome gift for our grandson was very welcome and shows what lovely people own this cottage!”

February 22nd – February 29th 2020 – Great stay in warm comfortable surroundings. Enjoyed our time here very much despite some challenging weather. Thank you for making us feel so welcome on arrival – much appreciated

30th December – 3rd January 2020 – Thank you so much for our New Years retreat, very child friendly everything has been thought of from safety gates to disposable bibs. Cottage is lovely and very clean and the hamper was a lovely touch! Would definitely come back again, great location for scenic walks and drives and the kids loved crabbing on Anglesey. Thank You!

A beautifully presented house with lovely views and a cosy log fire. The house feels much bigger inside than I expected. Our 4 year old loved exploring the gardens. We would definitely book again.

Fab stay. Lovely hosts – very informative with things to do in the area. Very welcome food hamper and the honey was delicious. So many lovely walks, especially enjoyed climbing Snowdon. Zip wire was thrilling if over a little quick! Thank you for having us.

My family have really enjoyed our stay in this lovely house so ideally situated and with such lovely views. It was a great base to enjoy many activities such as a mountain climbing/walking, zip wires, a deep slate mine tour, the mountain coaster, to name but a few. The house was lovely and clean and well equipped. Majella and Gareth gave us such a lovely warm welcome, they really went to great efforts to ensure that everything was perfect for us. The honey from their bees is wonderful and the hamper which they provided on arrival was so thoughtful and much appreciated. Thankyou again for such a lovely stay we would definitely visit again!

I and all my friends agreed that the cottage had been beautifully appointed and we enjoyed the views and sunsets.

27th Apr – 4th May’19- We have had a fantastic week in this beautiful house. So well equipped and cosy! Despite some shakey weather we have had a busy week from Criccieth to Rhosneigr, Llandudno to Betws Y Coed. We even managed 3 times on the beach and rock pools! Gypsy Wood and Greenwood parks were great days out close by for our little ones. We will be back for holidays again soon. Thank you.

14th to 21st Apr’19 – What a lovely place. We were blessed with beautiful weather so we could make good use of the outside with the beautiful views. We also enjoyed the lovely house, well equipped , very clean, ideally situated and ideal holiday home. Thank you.

This is a lovely house in a great location. The house had plenty of space and it was better equipped than my own home! We were greeted with a very well stocked welcome pack with honey produced by the owners from hives near the house. All this helped us have a comfortable stay. We were blessed with good weather so made good use of the outdoor areas, eating outside when we could to make use of the amazing view.
