Two Bedroom Holiday Cottage On The Banks of The River Dwyfor | Melin-Dwyfor

I booked this for my brother and brother-in-law to stay in whilst attending a wedding in Criccieth.
The welcome they received was outstanding as was the ‘welcome hamper’.
They were bowled over with the location and comfort of the cottage.

We loved our stay. The apartment is lovely – clean, stylish and well equipped. The location is idyllic and so peaceful. We also really liked that Mel and Jim are eco conscious and have done everything possible to reduce the carbon footprint of the property.

We hope to visit again soon!

We arrived late evening and Jim and Mel were there to greet us. The cottage is compact and perfectly proportioned. It had everything you need during your stay. Well equipped kitchen. Amazingly comfortable bed. We slept very well.

The surrounding area has a wonderful coastline and close to the rivers and mountains too. Jim recommended good walks and beaches. Bring your hiking boots.

Finally, what a spectacular location. Jim and Mel very generously share it with us. The cottage garden is tranquil, perfect for re-centreing one’s mind and spirit, and tended to attract pollinators including Jim’s bees. You can even taste the honey they make! Highly recommended and will return.

Melin Dwyfor was everything we wished for, and more. The accommodation was spotless and very well equipped, and nothing was too much trouble for our hosts to help make a memorable week for us. We swam in the river, had long walks and thoroughly enjoyed this beautiful part of Wales. Even on the one wet day we enjoyed staying in because this was such comfortable accommodation.

A fabulous property and Mel and Jim were lovely, kind and helpful, whilst also ensuring privacy.
We were very lucky with the weather, 2 weeks of sunshine, and coming back to such a cool property was a welcome relief.

We couldn’t ask for anything else in the property, and it was so clean and tidy when we arrived. And hearing the river was so calming.

We will definitely book this again if we come back to North Wales.

What a find. A beautifully appointed apartment in an idyllic setting next to the river. We all really enjoyed our stay here and wanted for nothing. The beds were SO comfortable I could have taken them home. It was a lovely base to explore from and we loved the location, Criccieth and our many walks around the Llyn Peninsula seeing Dolphins and seals. The accommodation is one of the nicest we have stayed in and the owners, Mel and Jim really friendly and approachable – thank you for posting on our left items ! I would not hesitate in recommending this property or the company Dioni.

My husband and I had a lovely weekend break at this beautiful apartment.
Jim & Mel were perfect hosts.
The apartment itself was spotlessly clean and in a very idylic position with the river Dwyfor running through the bottom of the garden.
The apartment suited us as a couple.
There is sleeping for 4. Living area may be a little tight for 4 adults but saying that if this is a base for exploring the area the living area may suit.
We would like to return again sometime in the future as it is in such a lovely spot and met our needs perfectly.

We had 4 nights at Melin-Dwyfor and it was a little piece of heaven. The old mill is located perfectly for seeing much of the Llyn Peninsula which is what we planned to do. However, the situation of this beautiful building beside the magical river Dwyfor makes it a beautiful place to be without travel! We enjoyed wonderful walks with the dog down the river, and my passion for photography was rewarded on these walks, especially as the wooded riverside walks were filled with Bluebells too. The apartment itself was immaculate and the beds were so very comfortable we found we slept better than at home in truth. Jim & Mel were so very helpful, and they made us feel most welcome. We knew we could contact them about anything, however the apartment was short of nothing and we never felt the need. The apartment was spotlessly clean and tastefully finished with quality items, a really lovely place to be, and we are certain we will be back.

We had a restful weekend staying in the Old Mill, it is a delightful property with a truly idyllic setting for anyone looking for a place to recharge their batteries. The wild garden is a haven for birds and just sitting watching the river was very relaxing. There is a lovely riverside walk and many attractions close by. We hope to return at a different time of year to see how the surroundings change.

Had a very pleasant stay in January for three nights, my wife and I plus our golden retriever. Beautiful location, really lovely apartment and ideal for a short stay. Jim and Mel (and Rhodri the dog) were superb hosts, nothing was too much trouble, and a really nice welcome pack on arrival. We’ll definately be looking to come back again soon! Thanks

We have stayed over the years in many of Dioni cottages which have always been quality and so it continues.
What I wonderful place to stay
We were really made to feel welcome by the owners Jim and Mel who are
really friendly and helpful. The accommodation is really comfortable and very clean.
It is set in a lovely location outside of Criccieth and on the banks of the Afon Dwyfor.
The walk along the Dwyfor towards the Lloyd George grave is very special.
When we head this way again Melin – Dwyfor will be top of our list of places to stay.

I would like to say a huge thank you to Jim and Mel for sharing their fabulous property with us, you really have thought of everything to ensure we had a perfect stay, including lovely welcome goodies.
We slept like logs in the huge bed and had such a relaxing time in the beautiful garden with the stunning River Dwyfor running through, it really is an idyllic setting. BBQ equipment is also provided and a chiminea that we enjoyed using at night.
I’m extremely grateful to Jim for kindly posting a few things that got left handing behind the door.
We have had a wonderful week and can’t wait to return.

A lovely holiday let in beautiful surroundings. Spotlessly clean and it has everything you need. Enjoyed the patio seating for our meals. Sat in the peaceful garden next to the river. We were blessed with amazing weather. Lots to see, beaches close by, Criccieth is a short ride away for provisions. Jim and Mel, the owners, were very approachable and helpful. Certainly a place to return to.

Well, what can I say….what a gem! A lovely cottage in a lovely spot and two lovely hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our four night stay here. The cottage was spotlessly clean when we arrived and there were a few goodies in the fridge waiting for us. Very comfortable bed and bedding. The situation is so quiet and peaceful yet a short drive to lots of places. We shall definately return and can recommend to anyone who wants a little bit of R and R! Melin-Dwyfor is a beautiful accommodation surrounded by beauty. The River, gardens and scenery are just what you need to switch off from the world. The property has what you need and is great for your stay and the owners Jim and Mel are respectful but always on hand if you have any issues or just for a chat. Would definitely recommend.

We had a lovely relaxing few days staying at Melin-Dwyfor. It is set in an idyllic spot next to the river where you can access a beautiful walk all the way down to the coast and into Criccieth.
Mel and Jim were perfect hosts and always on hand if you needed anything, including interesting information on the bees they keep! The house has everything you may need for a great stay.

Melin Dwyfor is located in a wonderful spot – just besides the river in a very quiet, nature-full location and yet just 5 minutes from Criccieth and central to exploring the Llyn Peninsula, Snowdonia, Harlech and beyond. All 4 of us (adults and children) slept amazingly well in the extremely comfortable beds. The apartment had everything we needed as well as the use of a beautiful garden. Jim and Mel were very welcoming, lovely hosts and available if needed. The welcome items were a particular treat! We had a wonderful time. Many thanks. We will visit again soon.

We have just spent a happy and restful week in this comfortable, clean and very well appointed apartment. The owners gave us a warm welcome and it was wonderful to hear about all they are doing for wildlife. Richard was lucky enough to see a tawny owl in the garden and went for a cold but very refreshing swim in the river. We both enjoyed the patio in morning sunshine and the woodland walk from the doorstep. Lots to explore in the vicinity and delicious fish and chips from Criccieth. We hope to return!

Just returned from a fabulous week at this beautiful cottage, perfectly situated to explore north Wales, exceptionally clean, everything you need is provided and mel and jim are great hosts, nothing is too much trouble, a lovely couple. Mel and Jim were excellent hosts at an excellent apartment. Very clean and well equipped and a lovely setting by the river. The location is great for hiking in Snowdonia and for the coastal resorts along the Llyn Peninsular. We particularly liked the sandy beach at Black Rock near Porthmadog. We can also recommend Dylans restaurant at Criccieth both for the main restaurant and the beer/wine van for al fresco drinks along the sea front.

We (2 adults. 2 children) had a great time staying here at the end of August. Jim and Mel were great, friendly hosts, and the apartment had everything we needed. The quiet location and sound of the river gave us the best nights sleep we’ve had in ages too. The place was spotlessly clean as well.

Its only five mins from the beach and about half an hour to the mountains of Snowdonia, so an excellent location, and we’d happily return.

Had a lovely week at Melin-Dwyfor. Great base to explore Snowdonia national park. Criccieth beach within 5mins drive. Great for families. The grounds are stunning, missing the river bench from the moment we left. The accommodation has everything you need. Jim & Mel are very friendly and my kids loved the cat and dog. Will be returning in the near future.

The location is perfect for walking along the river and the coastal path, with Criccieth and other surrounding towns nearby. Had a great time at this lovely apartment. Very clean and a nice cosy spot by the river. It’s also close to the beach and not too far from Hell’s mouth for any surfers, I was there almost everyday. The owners Jim and Mel were regularly making sure me and my partner had everything we need and making sure we had a nice time. Very friendly and welcoming people it was also a delight to meet Rodhri the dog and Archie the cat. Again, we had a great time. Would definitely recommend. Thank you Mel and Jim 🙂

We stayed here at rather short notice, booking just a few days prior to NYE. Communication was quick and simple.

Our stay was thoroughly enjoyable, the property itself is very well appointed with both bedrooms extremely comfortable and the bathroom of a high standard.

Best of all were our hosts Jim & Mel (and their dog; Rhodri). All of whom were very welcoming and enhanced our stay hugely.

I’d warmly recommend this property to anyone look for coastal retreat.

What a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location.
Spotlessly clean, cosy and inviting.
The property is finished in a very high standard and provided everything for a relaxing break.
Melanie and Jim are relaxed and friendly hosts on hand for any questions.
My only criticism is that as the owners live above there is some noise on occasion but no too intrusive.
An added bonus is owners handsome pup Rhodri who is also very friendly!

We had a fantastic week in Snowdonia with Melin-Dwyfor as our base. The accommodation was super comfortable; a gorgeous and sympathetic renovation of a traditional old water mill on the river – perfectly equipped for our needs. Jim kindly offered his freezer space to cater for our raw fed dogs. The weather was sublime and we enjoyed the Llyyn peninsular, Snowdon and Criccieth. Fabulous hosts who were on hand for questions/ideas – highly recommend.

What a fabulous apartment and a great location being just 5 minutes drive from the coast and the gorgeous beach town of Cricceith and about 40 mins to the base of Snowden. Beautifully decorated with some lovely personal touches and the welcome hamper was indeed very welcome after a long journey from the Midlands.

Whilst the owners lived upstairs, it never felt intrusive and we had lots of our own private space, including the use of a lovely natural garden and bathing in the river. The river walk from the apartment was perfect for a morning/ evening stroll with our dog who was also made very welcome.

We were only there for a few nights and would love to return for a longer stay.

We had a wonderful time in this fantastic apartment. It was very clean and well equipped with everything you could possibly need for a great family holiday.

The owners Mel and Jim are so friendly and welcoming, and despite them living above the apartment it didn’t once feel intrusive. In fact we loved to stop and chat to them whilst out walking our dog. Our kids particularly enjoyed saying hello to their puppy Rodhri!

The attention to detail in the apartment was first class and we couldn’t fault it. The welcome hamper and personalised card was a very nice touch too. The beds are so comfortable and we all slept so well.

The garden which has a natural feel to it was very relaxing and so peaceful. Swimming in the river was a particularly a highlight for us. We all enjoyed the river walk from the apartment down to Llanystumdwy, spotting a heron on the way.
We would definitely recommend this apartment to others and would love to stay again.
