Converted Water Mill Full Of Character | Melin-Isaf

Melin-Isaf is a converted water mill near Conwy. Sleeping six, it is full of character with its kooky walls, log burner and exposed original beams. It is cosy, warm and welcoming and its location beautiful with the sound of the river and woodland close by.

The holiday cottage is set along a very pretty lane and on arrival you can’t help but feel how idyllic the locations is. The main entrance brings you straight into the kitchen / diner. A lovely room with a white washed feel to it which works perfectly with the unevenness of the walls. A butler sink and the taupe colours units, high gloss work top and modern appliances all come together to create a really lovely place to cook and eat. The dining room table at the far end seats six comfortably.

The sitting room is a great space; one side is set up for those who might like to have a bit of time reading with a lovely leather arm chair. The main area is home to three very big and comfy sofas, a wall mounted flat screen tv and the all important log burner. The exposed beams across the ceiling combined with the french doors make this a super cosy room but with good natural light. There is a utility room with a downstairs WC on this floor too.

Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and three bathrooms. A double and twin have ensuites. The second double, whilst it has its own bathroom, it is not an ensuite. All bedrooms are done to a great spec and have made great use of the quirky wall configuration a beautiful old building like this offers. Carpeted throughout, the bedrooms are warm and inviting with the additional luxury of Egyptian cotton sheet to ensure a restful nights sleep. The understated, neutral furnishings make them feel light and airy. The bathrooms all have a shower, WC and washbasin.

Location

The french doors on the far wall of the sitting room open up onto a lovely, double tiered patio area where you can sit and listen to the river opposite and surrounding woodland wildlife. It is an enclosed space with plenty of seating for you to sit out undisturbed taking it all in.

There are lots of things to do nearby. Surf Snowdonia and Zip World are just up the road. 20 mins will bring you into Conwy itself, a beautiful medieval walled town where you will find a beach and marina close by to the town. Llandudno is just a few minutes further on which is a quintessential Victorian seaside town.

Walkers and mountain bikers have lots of opportunities with routes heading up the Carneddau mountains. Betws Y Coed is 10 mins away where you can enjoy the famous Swallow Falls and Fairy Glenn along with a great selection of cafes, restaurants and shops. The Marin Trail for mountain bikers is just down the road as is the newest Zip World attraction, The Fforest Coaster. The slopes of Snowdon are about 40 minutes away. There are plenty of activity providers that offer a variety of watersports on the lakes and in the rivers including SUP, canyoning, kayaking, white water rafting etc.

The Old Mill is a delightful holiday cottage in a very pretty location. The log burner and fairy lights, comfy sofas and throws all go towards making it a very comfortable and social space – we felt at home straight away! The enclosed walled patio garden gave us peace of mind that the dogs were safe to wander outside – it was south facing too so we were able to enjoy afternoon drinks in the sunshine. It provided a perfect base to visit the local Zip World attractions as well as taking stunning walks both from the door and after short drives into Snowdonia to make the most of the incredible mountain scenery. We had a great afternoon on nearby Conwy Morfa beach too followed by a meal at Conwy Marina. The Old Mill has it all and we were very sad to leave.

Returned yesterday from the peacefully secluded Melin Isaf. Such a wonderful home, fully equipped we didn’t need anything else. Clean, comfortable, both modern and traditional inside. Log burner was welcome as the weather wasn’t on our side. Ideal location for walking and bike trails and local attractions. Dog friendly and safe for them too. Neighbour across the road very helpful. Hope to return one day

Fantastic house “converted flour mill” plenty of room as there was 5 of us and great for Nell the dog. The kitchen is well equipped and there is also a utility with a washer and a dryer if needed. There is walks straight out the door and a great view point looking over the Conway valley not to be missed directions in a book in the welcome pack. Llandudno, Conway, Betswy-Coed about 15 minutes in the car, if you have children Zip World is just the other side of Llanwrst on the A470 the kids love the forest coaster but beware to book at least 24hrs in advance online, all in all a fantastic house in a great position to explore North Wales, another great addition to the Dioni cottages.
