Near Beach
Aberdyfi

A luxury self-catering home with breath-taking sea views – wake up to the waves at this beautiful, modern holiday cottage in Aberdovey.

Morlyn-Mawr is a showstopper holiday cottage which has been carefully designed and furnished to create a light, luxurious and easy-living space. It sleeps up to six guests in two double bedrooms and one twin.

The look and polished feel of this stylish self-catering property takes its inspiration from the beach retreats and hideaways of Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod. We love its smart slate gables, glass balconies and wood clapboard style.

Located in the grounds of the smart Trefeddian Hotel and a short walk from the Aberdovey Golf Club – a formidable links course if you’re interested – this luxury self-catering home with breath-taking sea views offers loads to do right on the doorstep. The seaside village of Aberdovey – that’s Aberdyfi in Welsh – is just a few minutes’ walk away.

The living space has been inverted to make the most of the elevated position and the big sea views, with bedrooms on the ground floor and living space upstairs.

The furnishings and finish of this cottage are of the very highest quality, with a relaxing neutral colour scheme throughout. We particularly love the beautiful fabrics used throughout – the interior design has clearly been a labour of love.

All bedrooms are en suite with powerful walk-in waterfall showers, and the two double bedrooms have baths too. Patio doors from the double bedrooms open up onto spacious paved terraces with luxury outdoor furniture. Ideal for soaking up some rays with your morning coffee or to enjoy a quiet evening sundowner.

Upstairs, the open plan living space makes the most of those dramatic and panoramic sea views. The modern, superbly equipped kitchen leads onto a light and airy lounge area with floor to ceiling windows. Patio doors lead out to a fabulous balcony with uninterrupted views across Cardigan Bay, perfect to unwind and reflect on your day.

Back inside, a separate cosy snug area is ideal for curling up with a good book. There is another loo on this floor too. The kitchen comes equipped with a washing machine and dishwasher.

Guests staying at Morlyn-Mawr holiday cottage are very welcome to use the Trefeddian Hotel’s swimming pool, health and beauty salon, tennis courts, putting green and family playroom.

Morlyn-Mawr is next door to the Morlyn-Bach holiday cottage, which sleeps an additional four guests.

Location

Aberdovey is one of the Snowdonia’s prettiest coastal villages. Depending on where you’re starting from, you’ll find it around halfway up - or down - the coast of Wales, on the estuary of the River Dyfi. It’s at the southern-most edge of the Snowdonia National Park. South facing, the great hills and mountains of Snowdonia rise up behind it.

For most of the 19th century Aberdovey was a bustling port, shipping Welsh slate and oak around the world. It is now best described as a superbly pretty harbour village. And what a gem it is: terraced houses on the seafront are pastel-painted; a golden sandy beach extends to the north for miles, as far as the nearby town of Tywyn. It has retained an air of dignified Victorian glamour and charm.

The town is a bit of a mecca for watersports enthusiasts. Expect fishing boats, sailing boats, dingies, windsurfers and kitesurfers on the water. A boat trip or a SUP lesson are ideal if you are a beginner and want to get onto the water. There’s a lovely little jetty – ideal for a spot of crabbing, and the beach has more than enough room for even the most ambitious of sandcastlers.

Aberdovey is a lovely town to wander around. Quaint old streets rise up to spectacular viewpoints whilst in the heart of the village you can enjoy browsing in specialist boutiques and art galleries. You’ll find no shortage of great places to eat.

If golf’s your thing, you should make a beeline for Aberdovey’s championship golf course, which welcomes visiting players and is located at the western end of the village.

You don't need to travel too far from Aberdovey to get into spectacular mountain and valley scenery. The peaks of the Cadair Idris and Aran Fawddwy ranges are within easy reach. If you enjoy nature and the outdoors then don’t miss the Dovey / Dyfi valley which is home to some of the finest examples of special landscapes and wildlife areas in Europe with much of the estuary area recognised as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.
