Pet Friendly Holiday Cottage Near Beddgelert | Nanmor

This pet friendly holiday cottage near Beddgelert is a great example of a stone built traditional welsh farmhouse. Located in the stunning Glaslyn valley the cottage is ideally located for guests wanting to explore both the rugged Snowdonia mountains and the beautiful sandy beaches of North Wales.

Turning off the Beddgelert to Porthmadog road we continue up a private drive to the front door of Nanmor. On entering we step left into the lounge. A large inglenook with the original oak lintel houses that all important log fire. Two leather sofas sit on a beautiful welsh slate floor looking out at the fantastic views to the front of the house.

The kitchen is back round to the right. Simple kitchen units with all the essentials included. An electric oven and hob, microwave, large fridge freezer and dishwasher are all there. A second spacious utility room houses a modern washing machine and tumble dryer. There’s also a convenient ground floor bathroom just of the utility room and access to a sunny rear courtyard.

From the kitchen we can continue through into the dining room. Be sure to duck your head, this entrance is quite low. The dining room beyond is a really nice space with white washed stonewalls with a stable door leading to the courtyard to the side of the house.

We have to walk back through to the entrance hall to go upstairs. As with a lot of old houses the stairs have quite a narrow tread. Anyone with mobility difficulties should take care when descending and make good use of the sturdy handrail.

The bathroom is immediately to our right at the top of the stairs. It contains a nice white bathroom suit and shower cubicle on a wood laminate floor. Top of the stairs and turn left we come to a long corridor with three bedrooms leading off. One twin room and two double rooms. All the bedrooms have spectacular views over fields of sheep grazing and out towards the famous Glaslyn river.

Location

Nanmor is set in a lovely private spot. Plenty of off road parking and a small but sunny gravelled area for seating and a larger lawn to the front. You may have to share the lawn with the odd stray sheep. The old stone pig sheds have also been renovated and provide dry and secure storage for guests with bikes or canoes etc.

Situated half way between Beddgelert and Porthmadog the property has a wealth of attractions and activities within a short drive. Beddgelert is a very picturesque village with a couple of lovely pubs and cafes etc and has long been popular with walkers and outdoor enthusiasts.

Porthmadog is a larger harbour town and offers more shopping facilities including a medium sized supermarket. From here guests can drive a little further on to enjoy the sandy beaches at Borth Y Gest or Black rock Sands.

There are many activities and attractions in the area. The Glaslyn Osprey centre is within walking distance to the cottage. Once there you might like to jump onto the fantastic narrow gauge Welsh Highland Steam Railway at nearby Pont Croesor. A short car journey will take you the medieval castle towns of Harlech to the south or Caernarfon to the north. Other popular adventure centres include Zip World in Blaenau Ffestioniog, Coed Y Brenin Mountain Biking Centre near Dolgellau and Tryweryn White Water rafting in Bala.

We are blessed to have returned here seven months since our last holiday. We’ve even booked to return again next year.

We love it so much because it works perfectly for us. The large and enclosed grounds mean it’s safe for our dog to wander around. She’s blind so that’s very important to us. It’s in a great central location, not overlooked, and whilst on a main road it doesn’t feel like it, but does provide good access to local attractions.

The cottage is beautiful and very cozy and the welcome hamper very thoughtful. It was very clean and well maintained.

We cannot wait to return again next year!

A very comfortable house to stay in for the week. Nice and warm, well equipped, plenty of space and a wonderful location with great views. We would definitely stay here again. Diolch yn fawr!

We loved our week at this property. The cottage is beautiful and very cozy and the welcome hamper was very thoughtful. The property is in a great location for access to the coast and mountains and we’ve already booked to return next year.

Some things to keep in mind:

– there were a lot of house spiders and some were huge! They seemed to be chiefly in the lounge so it may be that it would benefit from a more frequent and thorough vacuum.

– take your own tea(bags) as there were none supplied.

– there are a few low height walkways/door frames. I’m 5’7 and hit my head a few times. It’s part of the charm of the building though so one of those things for us.

Lovely, quirky cottage with lots of characterful features. Plenty of enclosed outdoor space for our doggy to run around. Other guests should be aware though that you cannot walk directly from the cottage into Beddgelert as we were led to believe from the Dioni website – there is no footpath and the main A road outside is very busy with no pavement. This did not spoil the holiday and we had a lovely time in this fabulous and beautiful area. Thank you!

We had a fabulous couple of weeks in this lovely quiet cottage. Wonderful views and so peaceful. Not too far from The mountains or the coast. Would not hesitate to book again.

The cottage was very welcoming and cosy, very warm even on damp days ! The shower worked fine providing no one else used any other water at the same time!Lovely situation and a great area for visiting with a range of things to do from walking to beaches and even the Zip wire. Wild water swimming in the river pools was a bonus.Would definitely book again provided the spiders were swept away a bit more rigorously

Lovely cosy cottage, great views and ideally placed for both mountains and beaches. Large enclosed garden which is very pet friendly although smaller dogs might find the odd escape route. There is wifi but understandably limited. The upstairs shower is either hot, or cold, with nothing in between. We really enjoyed our stay and 1 glorious week was not a long enough holiday.

The cottage was amazing, our 2nd trip. The heating was awkward but our fault. The owner arrived in the pouring rain & sorted it in minutes & gave us a bit of history on the place. It was one of the best holiday cottages we have had and we have had so far to date 54.
It had a magical feel whatever the weather. However, Dioni is one of the very best holiday cottage companies I’ve found & therefore I’m not surprised it was perfect.

Nanmor was a quirky farmhouse set up on a hill with stunning views. Upon arrival we welcomed the hamper (wine, Welsh cakes and flowers) and were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of amenities. Plenty to do near and far. Our best trip was on the Welsh highland railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon which our puppy also enjoyed. Zipworld and Forest Coaster were also enjoyed by us all. Lovely holiday had by us all.
