Snowdon Base Camp Complete With Hot Tub | Nant Peris

Pet FriendlyHot TubNear PubNear SnowdonReal Fire

This Snowdon base camp complete with hot tub is perfectly placed for an active break in Snowdonia. Sleeps up to six guests, with the whole of Snowdonia to explore from your doorstep. Walk, run, bike or hike through magnificent mountain landscapes straight from the front door.

The cottage is in Nant Peris, a small mountain village which sits between Llanberis and Capel Curig on the Llanberis Pass (A4086). It is a fairly rugged and wild part of Snowdonia, and given the cottage sits at the foot of Snowdon, you really couldn’t be closer to the mountains if you tried.

There are three bedrooms at this Snowdon base camp complete with hot tub. One double with an en suite shower room, and two twin bedrooms which share a decent size family bathroom. All of the bedrooms are a good size, bright, unfussy and very, very comfortable.

There is a large bright kitchen diner which has a traditional range as well as an electric oven, plenty of space and everything you might need to cook up a hearty feast after a day in the hills. There is a breakfast bar, and a dining table which seats six.

The living room is another large bright room with three big comfortable sofas arranged around the fireplace and a supply of logs for your fire. Patio doors open out from this room onto a fabulous dining terrace which comes with a soaring mountain backdrop. It really is a bit of a showstopper.

There is a decent hot tub in the garden too – ideal for soothing tired muscles after an active day in the hills. The hot tub sits right next to a small river which runs along the garden boundary – nature’s own water feature and a brilliant soundtrack for your soak. With just the mountains and big skies watching over you, you’d be hard pushed to find a more relaxing, peaceful and uplifting setting.

You’ll find this Snowdon base camp complete with hot tub in Nant Peris, a small mountain village which sits between Llanberis and Capel Curig on the Llanberis Pass (A4086). The cottage sits at the foot of Snowdon, so it really is an excellent base camp if you are heading into the hills. It sits within the Snowdonia International Dark Sky Reserve.

This is a rural, peaceful setting, but just a ten minute drive from Llanberis – a thriving mountain village packed full of cafés, shops, and nice places to eat. A twenty minute drive will get you to Beddgelert, arguably Snowdonia’s prettiest mountain village. Like Llanberis, Beddgelert has plenty of tasty diversions, shopping and refuelling opportunities.

If you prefer not to travel by car, or would like to enjoy a linear walk, you can hop on the Snowdon Sherpa bus which runs regular daily services that connect the six main up-and-down routes for Snowdon. The Sherpa bus also connects Nant Peris with Llanberis and Pen y Pass. Pen y Pass is the start point for what is arguably the easiest way up Snowdon – the Miner’s Track.

Snowdonia plays host to regular sporting events throughout the year, including marathons, triathlons, trail running events, MTB events and plenty more besides. The cottage is perfectly placed for anyone who is looking for accommodation for their next race event, whether they are coming with fellow competitors or a bunch of their own cheerleaders.

Beyond marathons and races, Snowdonia is now regarded as the adventure capital of Europe, and some of the region’s most popular attractions – including Zip World, Go Below, Bounce Below, Antur Stiniog downhill mountain biking, and Adventure Parc Snowdonia are within a 40 minute drive of the cottage.

If watersports are your thing, head to nearby Llyn Padarn where you can book in for paddleboarding, kayaking, canoeing or supported wild swimming on what is one of the largest natural lakes in Wales.

The town of Caernarfon, with its mighty medieval fortress, is a 20 minute drive away. Porthmadog and Portmeirion are slightly further afield, at 40 minutes by car. At Porthmadog you can board the Welsh Highland and Ffestiniog heritage railways to explore the mountains by the power of steam.

Speaking of locomotives, did you know you can take a train to the summit of Snowdon? Ideal if you are coming with younger children, or would like to give your legs a rest after a few days of hard graft. It’s a truly uplifting experience…

Llanberis’s location on a strategic mountain pass heading into the wilds of Snowdonia means it has plenty of history. When you visit, make time to visit the stout ruins of Dolbadarn Castle which stands guard over the shores of Llyn Padarn.

A beautiful cottage located in lovely area, with view of Snowdon. The cottage was well equipped with amenities and was enhanced by the instalment of fibre broadband allowing to watch Netflix via the TV.
A couple of points for improvement are the settees in the lounge need updating, one to low and needed new padding and second one to many cushions. The fire was a great asset and made a lovely feature, the last few nights it started to smell, which I reported to owner as it may need sweeping and he thanked us for pointing this out.
Overall had a wonderful time and would recommend the cottage to others to stay in, we would return as a family for a holiday. Thank you for the cake for sons birthday, very nice touch.
The cottage was clean and tidy and well presented 9 out 10.
