Modern Ground Floor Apartment in the Heart of Caernarfon | Nantlle

Part of the buzzing new artisan quarter, Cei Llechi, this modern ground floor apartment in the heart of Caernarfon is perfect for two guests. It will appeal to culture seekers as well as explorers and adventurers, and is ideal for a romantic getaway in North Wales.

Nantlle is a beautiful one-bedroomed apartment which is part of Caernarfon’s new waterfront development, Cei Llechi (Slate Quay). Once at the heart of Caernarfon’s thriving slate trade, the area has been recently redeveloped, and is now home to local artists, artisans, and craft makers. It sits just a stone’s throw from the mighty fortress of Caernarfon Castle, and the shores of the Menai Strait.

The apartment has been recently renovated as part of an impressive restoration project. Everything is brand new and beautifully designed - we love the slate greys, blond wood, ocean blues, and muted pinks and greens used throughout. It is all very comfortable, sleek, and stylish.

Inside this modern ground floor apartment in the heart of Caernarfon is one good-sized double bedroom with a fab four-poster bed, a comfortable sitting room with a deep sofa and armchair, and a swish new kitchen with electric oven and hob. The immaculate bathroom has a large walk-in shower. All of the rooms are bright and extremely inviting.

There is plenty to do straight from the front door, so this is a great place to book if you prefer to stay out of the car on your hols. With its mighty medieval castle and town walls, cobbled streets and Georgian architecture, Caernarfon is one of the gems of North Wales.

Location

It couldn’t be more central: you’ll find this town apartment on the banks of the River Seiont in the centre of Caernarfon. Part of the town’s buzzing new waterfront development, Cei Llechi (Slate Quay) was once at the heart of Caernarfon’s thriving slate trade.

Just a few paces from the town’s mighty medieval fortress, this heritage area has been recently redeveloped, and is now home to local artists, artisans, and craft makers. It is a thriving and creative part of town – and on a warm sunny day it has a real bohemian, Mediterranean feel to it.

Caernarfon is one of the must-see towns of North Wales. Home to the nation’s most magnificent castle, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the best-preserved medieval castles on the planet, it is perfect for exploring on foot, with its medieval walls, cobbled streets, and Georgian architecture.

Around 50 metres from this town apartment on the banks of the River Seiont in Caernarfon, you’ll find Y Maes (Castle Square). Ringed by great cafés, boutiques and bars, it is the real heart of the town. There are plenty of options for people watching and eating out. By following the promenade walkway around the town walls overlooking the Menai Strait you will reach Victoria Dock – another previously thriving industrial district of the town, now home to residential flats, offices and the creative industries with a state of the art theatre and cinema, Galeri overlooking the dock.

You can jump on board the Welsh Highland Railway at Caernarfon for trips to Porthmadog, Rhyd Ddu and Beddgelert. Puffing your way through some of the UK’s most dramatic landscapes on this heritage railway is a magical way to explore the landscapes of North Wales.

If you enjoy cycling or walking on your holidays, follow the traffic-free cycle track Lon Las Fenai, which is part of the Wales Coast Path. It tracks the Menai Strait (the body of water between mainland Wales and Ynys Môn / Anglesey) from Caernarfon to Y Felinheli, and you can follow it all the way to Bangor (9 miles) and then into the mountains of Dyffryn Ogwen, or over the Menai Bridge to Anglesey (8.5 miles).

Anglesey – or Ynys Môn – is the largest island in Wales, surrounded by stunning Blue flag beaches and beautiful coastal walks – Newborough Warren, Llanddwyn Island and Aberffraw are amongst our favourites. There are some fantastic places to explore on the island, including Plas Newydd, an enchanting 18th century mansion and gardens, with spectacular views of Snowdonia.

Head around ten miles south of this stylish apartment overlooking Castell Caernarfon to get to the Llyn Peninsula. Like Anglesey, it is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and boasts spectacular coastal scenery and beaches served up with a stunning mountain backdrop.

There are plenty of outdoor specialists in the area who offer activities like coasteering, kayaking, horse riding and gorge scrambling. Adventure seekers might like to take a high-speed boat trip down the Menai Strait with Rib Ride. The holiday apartment is about a 20-minute drive from the high-speed thrills of Zip World at Bethesda, and 45 minutes will get you a surf on a world-first inland surf lagoon at Adventure Parc Snowdonia. The enchanting village of Portmeirion, with its Italianate follies, interesting shops, famous chinaware, cafés and beautiful gardens, is around 30 minutes’ drive south.

Fantastic apartment in a perfect location. Great views of the castle & lots of amenities on the doorstep.
The accommodation was very tastefully decorated/furnished, if we could have added anything it would have been a mirror in the bedroom over the dressing table . The fire doors on each room were obviously a safety feature but did make the spaces less sociable & noisy as you moved around the apartment.
Would definitely return, we had a lovely stay 😊

The apartment was very clean and modern, an excellent location right opposite the castle. Parking was easy even on a busy sunny day right near to the apartment, coffee/ice cream shop a few steps away, crabbing/boat trip from the quay side a few steps away, some excellent restaurants/pubs a few mins walk, a park and nature reserve a short walk away which connects to the coastal path. We had a wonderful time thank you.
