A detached property in a rural location, Penarllygad is a spacious five bedroom holiday cottage near Criccieth. Sleeping eight people across five bedrooms, with the addition of a nursery room, this is a fabulous property for a large family wanting to explore the Llyn Peninsula. With two lounge areas, a kitchen diner and a large outdoor space, there's plenty of scope for guests to gather together as a large group, or have some personal space.

Entering the property through the front door, a hallway leads to all reception rooms. To the right, the smaller of the two lounge areas is still substantial in size, with a leather sofa and two armchairs finished in green with wood detail. The green colour scheme runs through the décor with the feature wall and soft furnishings following the theme. Quarry tiles are laid to the floor and a large fireplace sits to the centre of the feature wall with an electric wood burner effect fire. This snug is a cosy space to snuggle up with a good book, or catch up on some TV. To the opposite side of the hallway, a large and sociable kitchen diner features modern units along with a large dining table located to one end. The U-shaped kitchen units finished in a grey wood effect feature a pale wooden worktop housing a double oven and electric hob, built in dishwasher, fridge freezer and plenty of storage space. With wood strip flooring, bright white walls and spotlights, this modern and contemporary kitchen is a fabulous room to cook up some hearty breakfasts or dinners, and socialise at the end of a busy day exploring. A separate utility room houses a washing machine, ideal for longer stays.

The rear of ground floor of Penarllygad is home to the main lounge area, once again featuring the traditional quarry tile flooring. A large room, recently renovated with modern touches but still retaining character, a mix of white and blue walls are complemented by grey and blue fabric sofas and side chairs. An inglenook style fireplace houses a log burner on a slate hearth and a pine coffee table sits on a large rug in the centre of the room. To one side, a door leads out to a lean-to with further seating, to the other side, sliding patio doors lead out to a decked area. A further door in the lounge leads into a modern downstairs shower room. Decorated with grey tiled walls and pale wood effect flooring, a large walk in shower cubicle sits alongside a WC and basin built into a vanity unit, providing storage.

Heading upstairs in this spacious five bedroom holiday cottage near Criccieth, the layout comprises three double bedrooms (one with en-suite), two single bedrooms, a family bathroom and a nursery. To the rear, the master bedroom with en-suite is a lovely warm room finished with green tones. A thick grey carpet is laid to the floor and a wooden framed bed sits between two bedside tables with lamps providing soft light. Pale green bedding match the green and white accents of the soft furnishings. A chest of drawers, open wardrobe and smart TV complete the layout of this cosy room. The en-suite, with a marble effect wall finish includes a corner walk in shower cubicle, WC, basin and handy storage unit for toiletries.

Two further double bedrooms, both to the front of the cottage feature similar layouts with wooden framed double beds flanked by bedside cabinets and table lamps. One room is finished with yellow tones, where the other has shades of green. There are side chairs, open wardrobes with shelving, and TVs in both rooms. The two single bedrooms once again feature comfortable wooden framed beds with open storage wardrobes and bedside cabinets, and a TV is included in one room. The sixth room upstairs, located between both doubles features a wooden cot, bedside cabinet and chair making the property suitable for families with a baby. Completing the layout of Penarllygad, an upstairs family bathroom is fitted with a walk in shower cubicle as well as a bath, WC and sink housed into a useful storage unit.

To the front, a lovely lawn area is the perfect spot for the kids to play and to the rear, accessed from the main lounge, a south facing modern decked area features an outdoor dining table and chairs. The space is perfect for alfresco dining or a couple of drinks before the sun sets in the evening.

The pretty seaside town of Criccieth is just over five minutes away by car. There are a number of reasons to visit including a fantastic beach, and a number of restaurants and cafes. There's no better spot on a sunny day than sitting outside Dylan's Restaurant, gazing out at the fabulous North Wales coastline. This restaurant, housed in a fabulous art deco building, is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike. A short walk up the hill from the beach leads to Criccieth Castle, sitting on the hilltop providing spectacular views of the surrounding coastline and mountains including the peaks of Eryri (Snowdonia) in the distance. After exploring the castle, stop into Cadwalader's for some fantastic ice cream.

Gently shelving, sandy coves with waves lapping onto the golden sand, these beaches are made for lazy summer days or brisk walks in the winter. Heading to the north of the peninsula, the beaches are wilder but equally as wonderful. It's only a short drive east to the town of Porthmadog and onwards to the stunning Italianate Village of Portmeirion, packed full of quirky and wonderfully coloured buildings, alongside cafes and shops. It's a stunning location and was the set for the 1960's cult classic TV show The Prisoner.

For family adventures, Glasfryn Parc is an all-weather destination packed full of adventure. With activities such as Go Karting, Crazy Golf and Ten Pin Bowling, whatever the weather there is something to do. Comfortable, well equipped base for three generations of same family to explore North Wales. Weather mixed but did not stop us enjoying our stay – visits to Rabbit Farm and Childrens Farm in Harlech on damp days, beach days at Criccieth and Pwllheli when weather allowed. Owner Wanda was most helpful. Happy to recommend yet another Dioni property – not had a bad one yet!

The house is even better than it looks in the photos, and was spotlessly clean. The kitchen had everything needed and we were able to rustle up some home cooked meals on the rare days we did not visit the excellent restaurants in Criccieth. The location really is perfect, with so much in the immediate area to do, just allow a little more time to do journeys to account for the slower average traffic speeds on the roads 🙂 it was great having the owner near by, and she was able to help with local attractions and advice. Would love to stay here again.

Fantastic cottage, equipped with everything you need for a great family holiday.
Location is perfect, so peaceful and quiet.
The children loved watching the baby lambs in the field. There was plenty of space for the children to play outside and have an Easter Hunt.
Cottage is very well looked after, the decor is beautiful.
Highly recommend to stay here, we will be back. Thank you

Very pleased with this well thought out dog friendly farmhouse holiday accommodation. Long weekend of family birthday celebrations (grandad 69 and grandson 18). Lots of nearby activities and, after an afternoon of zip wiring, the farmhouse outdoor area was ideal for our birthday buffet in the sun with its large table and plenty of chairs for family and friends, overlooking fields with inquisitive sheep. A few quieter days for grandparents when others had returned home for work/school commitments completed our week. Lovely colour palette throughout the farmhouse, relaxing bedrooms with great views.

We had such a lovely week at Penarllygad! The house was perfect for a family holiday with grandparents and young children. Plenty of space, great location to explore the Lynn Peninsula and lovely views. The children loved watching the farmer train his sheepdog in the evenings! The house is very well equipped and having 3 bathrooms was so useful! All the beds were comfy and the ample hanging space and draws was great. Thank you Wanda for being so helpful and accommodating! ☺️

We had such a wonderful stay. A family of 5 with children aged 8,6,3 and Grandma and Grandad. The layout of the cottage was perfect with space for the girls grandparents to have their own space with en suite. The two living areas were perfect for the children and the garden areas. The cottage was equipped to a high standard and was exceptionally clean. It is in the perfect location to visit other towns and areas. The host was very welcoming and helped to make our stay perfect. She has worked so hard on all the decor, garden areas and finishings. We would definitely recommend it to others, and really hope to return soon!
