Plas Glanconwy is a holiday cottage with character features and mountain views set on the outskirts of Conwy and Llandudno. If you are looking to stay somewhere with the wow factor, then this place certainly ticks that box. Interiors like this usually come hand in hand with large estates and big manor houses, however, this has that same special feel but as a three bedroom cottage, making it more affordable.

The entrance to the cottage is directly into the kitchen. Keeping as many of the original features as possible, it’s a great start of the tour and a taste of what is to come. The two original fire/ovens are set back into the walls, which although not in use anymore, certainly give character and the log burner is always a welcome addition to any kitchen to give it a warm and friendly feel. The kitchen units are simple, and the addition of a Smeg fridge gives it an injection of modern. There is everything you need in terms of mod cons to cater for your group and the rustic dining room table and chairs will certainly be a place everyone will congregate to. The floors are uneven in here, but hopefully you'll agree it would have been a crying shame to take away all that character!

Into the sitting room and you won’t be disappointed. You can feel the history in here. With oak wall panelling and ceilings throughout and a huge stone inglenook fireplace, it feels very regal in here. The heavy, red velvet curtains and pelmets are just the perfect finishing touch along with the distressed leather sofas and red velvet, Louis XVI style sofas and chairs. There is a piano so if there is a musician in the mix of guests, you are set for a great evening of singalongs!

There is a double bedroom on the ground floor. More oak panelling makes this room feel very special. The new furniture has been chosen to be in keeping with the style of the cottage. The family bathroom is also located on the ground floor. Exposed oak ceiling and the original slate floor make it very ‘instagramable’ and the lovely addition of matching dressing gowns for all the guests is fantastic.

Upstairs are two more bedrooms. A double and twin. The master double bedroom is large with high apex ceilings. Minimally decorated, you'll see lots of original features giving a serene feel to it - no clutter always makes for a great night sleep! The twin is more modern than the rest of the house, but with an Annie Sloane feel to it, it's another beautiful room to add to the others.

Location

The cottage itself has plenty of outside space and slightly off the beaten track so a great place to be if rural countryside is on your list or requirements. Beautiful views of the sea and mountains can be had from the cottage itself.

As you are on the outskirts of Conwy and Llandudno, there really is lots to do on your doorstep. Conwy is an old market town. Along with the castle, there are lots of cafes, restaurants and shops to enjoy as you amble around. Llandudno is a much bigger affair as the Victorian seaside town to visit in its day, there is everything you would expect and more. The Great Orme is a fab place for walking along with the cable car and the visitor centre at the summit. The dry ski slope is a great day out, especially with the toboggan ride. The pier is not to be missed and plenty of great places for fish and chips and ice-cream too!

Adventure Parc Snowdonia is just up the road and where you can surf on the lagoon as well as enjoy a number of new activities they have launched, including a zip wire and parkour.

Heading into the mountains, a 15 minute drive will bring you to Betws Y Coed which is home to the famous Swallow Falls and Fairy Glen. It is one of the bigger Snowdonia towns and there is lots to do there along with a really good selection of places to eat and shop - great for outdoor clothing. The Zip World Forest Coaster is 5 mins outside the town and is a great place for children.

If you are an outdoor enthusiast, there is everything here to keep you entertained. Walking, climbing, cycling, mountain biking and, water sports are aplenty. There are lots of local companies providing equipment and tours for you to enjoy your time here.
