Beautiful Barn Conversion In A Historic Setting Near Pwllheli | Stabal-Penarth

Pet FriendlyNear BeachReal Fire

Stabal-Penarth is a beautiful barn conversion in a historic setting near Pwllheli. Sleeping 8, it has been renovated to a high spec whilst retaining many of its original features. A fantastic mix of traditional and modern makes this a lovely place to stay, especially as it is well located on the Llyn Peninsula between Pwllheli and Criccieth.

Stabal-Penarth is in the grounds of Penarth-Fawr, one the original 15th Century ‘Hall Houses’, built by the medieval Welsh gentry to demonstrate their wealth and position in society. Our converted stable next door shares some of the history whilst benefiting from some more modern touches.

As you enter into this beautiful old stone building, you come into the open plan sitting and dining room. Thick, lime washed stone walls give you a sense of the age of the property. The space, decor and mix of new and antique furniture make this first room a fantastic sociable and convivial space. You will undoubtedly want to spend lots of time in here with friends and family.

Through an alcove brings you to the kitchen. A modern farmhouse style makes it one of those kitchens you wish you had at home, especially with its Belfast sink, big traditional taps and sturdy wooden chopping boards. All the appliances are new and there is plenty of storage to accommodate everything you will need for your stay here.

Off from the kitchen is a twin room - a beautiful room with exposed stone walls. Fully carpeted and furnished with traditional wooden furniture and good quality soft furnishings. The ground floor bathroom has a shower over bath, WC and washbasin. It is decorated in neutral colours and has the benefit of the thick white washed walls maintaining the character a property of this age has.

Upstairs, there are three double rooms. All beautifully presented with apex ceilings, they all have a very calm and serene feel about them which will certainly help with getting in that rest and relaxation. Some interesting yet tasteful furniture and fixtures are complimented by some wonderful artwork on the walls. One more bathroom is also located up here with a shower, WC and washbasin.

In terms of what there is to do in the area, you are really well positioned to explore both the north coast and the Llyn Peninsula. Pwllheli is your nearest town. A lovely harbour market town - plenty of lovely places to eat and drink and if you are into sailing, Plas Heli would be on your list of things to do.

There are lots of hidden coves and charming seaside villages on the Llyn Peninsula. The nearest, Criccieth, is 5 minutes away by car. Criccieth is a lovely little town to explore with lots of cafes, restaurants and antique shops along with the castle and three beautiful beaches to enjoy.

Porthmadog is a little further along to the east and where you'll be able to catch the steam train up into the mountains - a great day out, especially if the weather is a bit wet. There are a couple of nice restaurants in Porthmadog and a high street with lots of independent shops.

Heading north, Caernarfon has the famous castle of course and the new marina has a nice collection of restaurants, cafes and bars.

What a wonderful way to recharge your batteries after Lockdown than a wonderful visit to Wales and Stabal Penarth Cottage is perfectly situated to visit North West Wales. Nothing too much trouble for the hosts yet they aren’t intrusive. The cottage has everything you need and more. We were a party of 4 adults, 2 teenagers and 2 small children and there was plenty of room for all.
Would highly recommend.

What a pleasure to stay in this cottage! Clean, refurbished to a very high standard, quant, spacious, everything inside you require and more! The outside space is also perfect and suited our party perfectly including our 2 small children who were able to play safely just outside the barn door. The owners were both very friendly and helpful – nothing is too much trouble. Prefect hosts! Thank you. The cottage is located in a great position; close to a number of beaches and so many towns/places of interest within minutes car ride. We loved exploring the Llyn Penishula and the cottage allows you to do this with ease. We would definitely recommend this cottage to others and would love to return. Thanks again.

Only two of us and our dog stayed in this beautifully converted barn so we had acres of space.
We stayed in early December and as expected had very windy and mixed weather.
We had a great week of exploring the beautiful coastal walking opportunities around the Llyn peninsula and then returning to this great property.
The owners greeted us on arrival and were always close by for any problems but not intrusive.
The barn was warm from the central / underfloor heating and we didn’t need to use the wood burning fire.
The WiFi connection and enormous TV were very useful in the long winter nights.
We cooked for ourselves and found the kitchen very well equipped.
We could also recommend a visit for fish and chips from “Allports” in Pwllheli.
We had a great time and if visiting the area again this property would be at the top of our list of places to return to.

Lovely cottage. Very clean, comfortable, warm and spacious. Lovely spot, very quiet and only a couple of minutes from the main road. Fully enclosed garden for our border collie, which was totally safe for her. Plenty of beaches to walk the dog on. The nearest, Abererch, just a few minutes drive away. We had a wonderful ten days here, and would love to stay at this cottage again.

Wonderful week at this beautiful place, greeted beautifully and always available to ask questions and help. The Barn was wonderfully clean and tidy and had everything we need for a great stay. The location is quiet and restful but so close to road networks when venturing out we went all over the place Aberdaron, Abersoch, Pwhelli, Bounce Below at Zip World and found lots of lovely places to eat out. A great family holiday and we would definitely recommend.
