Sycamorwydden is a large self catering holiday home near Conwy in North Wales. This spacious and modern 4 bedroom cottage provides luxurious accommodation for up to 8 guests, with hot tub, on the northern tip of the Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri (Snowdonia National Park).

Located on the grounds of an excellent fly-fishing centre the cottage is naturally very popular with keen fishermen, but it’s central location in a popular tourist destination means that other family members also have plenty of things to do. But I should describe the cottage first.

Spacious is a bit of an understatement. The huge kitchen diner is a great space for family get-togethers. A well-equipped kitchen has plenty of storage space in addition to some high spec appliances. Patio doors lead onto the rear patio whilst a central island separates the space from the dining area. Here, a rectangular dining table is accompanied by an upholstered leather sofa and a large flat screen TV.

A separate utility room houses a washer drier an additional sink and yet more storage. Next door the lavish ground floor wet room houses an extravagant power shower as well as washbasin and wc.

Moving back round to the front of the house we come to the lounge. An impressive flat screen TV hangs on the wall. (The second of 7 TV’s in the property.) Comfy, modern grey sofas to relax into. A luxurious carpet and tasteful decorative features finish the room of nicely.

The cottage has four bedrooms in total. The master bedroom has a king sized bed as well as a large en-suite shower room. Twin beds in the other 3 bedrooms plus an additional family bathroom.

I would describe one of the twin bedrooms as being the usual size. But the other three are huge. Again, plenty of wardrobe space, a TV in each room and immaculate bedding. The décor and fittings are testament to a professionally run self-catering property.

Location

Penmaenmawr is a small mining town on the northern most tip of the Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) in North Wales. The town has a couple of pubs and restaurants all within walking distance of this large self catering holiday home.

The cottage is located on the outskirts of the village on the grounds of one of the premier large trout fisheries in North Wales. The 2 1/2 acre lake is only a short walk up the lane from the cottage.

The owners of Sycamorwydden have also come to an agreement with Graiglwyd Hall caravan park nearby which ensures guests can enjoy the use of the bar and leisure facilities on this quiet and well run site.

Jump in the car and within 10 minutes guests can be strolling the streets of the medieval walled town of Conwy. Or if in the summer you may prefer to stroll along of the ever-popular seaside town of Llandudno.

Llanberis and the slopes of Wyddfa (Snowdon) are about 15 minutes to the southwest and along the way you’ll past the longest zip line in the world at Bethesda and the world-renowned Plas Menai National Watersports centre near Caernarfon. On the way back home you if you had some energy left you might like to do some mountain biking on the Marian Trail in Betws Y Coed or perhaps spend a more relaxed afternoon strolling the magnificent grounds at Bodnant Gardens.

Great location, beautiful house and great hosts James and Debbie. Everything in house was supplied and very clean.
Loved the hot tub and fantastic large kitchen area. Camp club 5 mins walk away recommended too. Would stay again definitely 👍.

Lovely cottage with plenty of space for our whole group. Great location for walking and day trips. Helpful and considerate owners. (Comments/suggestions for improvement-replace double mattress and also provide more coat hooks please.) Thanks.

Stayed for a girls weekend in March. The house is big, plenty of room for everyone. The location is great with lovely views around. Huw was very helpful and approachable and helped us get one of our cars out of the snow that fell that weekend! Would stay again.

Sycamore Cottage is absolutely fantastic, we felt like we were in a really lovely mansion, the rooms are hugh, it has been decorated to a high specification, is really clean and is within easy reach of Conway and Llandudno – we really loved it and intend to visit again.

Had a lovely family holiday in this large well maintained “cottage”, the rooms were very spacious and had plenty of space for a large family gathering. It was very clean, warm and had loads of storage and parking. Our only niggle was a lack of extra crockery and cutlery as there was only 8 of everything so we couldn’t cater for the relations we had over for a meal.
Also we wondered why a downstairs bedroom wasn’t available as it would be ideal for my elderly mother to stay with the downstairs wet room and the property was very disabled friendly.
We would certainly stay again when visiting our relations in Wales and may even try the fishing next time.

We had an amazing week at this property, very spacious house, very quiet location, house is great and very well looked after, owners very friendly and welcoming and let us know they were only round the corner if we needed them, which we didn’t as everything was there for us.
Great walk down to the sea front and to the local high street, we will be more adventurous next time and walk into the hills!
We will return.

Had an amazing time here beginning of July 2017. Stayed with 6 other adults. The cottage was huge, clean, stocked up. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners. Great base to explore North Wales. I would definitely recommend this cottage. Just want to go back now.

We had an amazing time in Sycamore Cottage. We are a family party of 7 adults ages ranging from 49 to 85 we had a very comfortable stay and found Penmaenmawr a great central base as we travelled into Anglesey and also to Conwy and Llandudno. We hired a beach hut on Penmaenmawr sea front for £10 for the day where we BBQ’d and enjoyed the lovely weather North Wales provided. We did the challenging druids walk high above Penmaenmawr as well as a beautiful walk above the Synchant pass. It was very useful to be able to walk to the beautiful caravan site for extremely reasonably priced drinks in the bar. We would certainly recommend this beautiful house and the surrounding area.
