Ty-Eiddew is a romantic one bedroom cottage in Dolgellau. Set in the heart of town, this beautiful cottage is a real hidden gem with plenty to do nearby.

Located off a quaint cobbled street in the market town of Dolgellau, Ty-Eiddew feels like a mini boutique style hotel. Beautiful interiors where traditional meets modern, it is a warm and inviting space where you can get away from it all.

Whilst set in the town, you are never far from everything that the areas has to offer. If climbing a mountain is on your list, Cader Idris is 10 mins away. The beaches and adventure activities Snowdonia is famous for are only 20 mins away. If mooching around town and enjoying coffee and good food is high on your list, then a 5 minute walk will bring you into the town centre.

Walking down a traditional cobbled market town street, you enter the property into the sitting room. A beautiful room with log fire and all the necessities to make for cosy evenings in, including a great sofa and big plush cushions. The mix of traditional and modern pieces of furniture work so well.

The galley kitchen is light and airy and the use of white granite work tops and minimal decor make it a good workable space - needless to say there is everything you will need and expect in the kitchen to cater for your needs on holiday and really beautifully presented.

The double, ensuite bedroom is stunning. Soft pile carpet will feel amazing when you get out of bed and the big plump pillows and duvet will ensure a great night's sleep. The ensuite bathroom with bath and shower overhead is again very minimal with great fixtures and fittings.

Location

Dolgellau is a traditional market town in the Snowdonia National Park. With lots of lovely cafes and restaurants, it is a great place to go and while away an afternoon - TH Roberts is perfect for coffee and cakes; all homemade. Tafarn Y Gader Tapas has great reviews and certainly a place to visit for dinner and the Sospan is always a winner.

The foot of Cader Idris is only 10 minutes from the cottage - this a great mountain to climb and if you want to add a wild swim into the mix, on your way down, take the route via Llyn Cau.

Coed Y Brenin Mountain bike centre is 10 minutes drive - an amazing day out where they have 6 mountain bike trails alongside running and walking trails - something for everyone and all abilities.

20 minutes West will bring you to Barmouth where you will enjoy the blue flag beaches and all the trappings of a traditional seaside town - there is a bigger range of shops here; great independents where you can pick up some really great items. There is of course the harbour and prom complete with a fairground.

20 mins South will take you to the sailing village of Aberdovey where again, a great way to spend the day with nice cafes and pubs to eat and drink.

Snowdonia of course is well known for its adventure activities. 20 mins East will bring you to Bala where you can visit the National Whitewater Centre, or Llyn Tegid where there are plenty of watersports you can enjoy including sailing, windsurfing, kayaking etc. If canyoning is more your thing, there are lots of local operators that offer this.

The more world famous Portmeirion Village, Zip World and Surf Snowdonia are with an hour and half away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in Dolgellau. The cottage was very cosy and in a very quiet spot. There wasn’t any parking, but we were aware of that from the cottage description – we arranged parking for the week in the Coop car park which cost us less than £15 for the week. We spent a couple of days driving out to the coast and would recommend a visit to Harlech.

What a lovely cottage, great location, some good pubs and restaurants, easy to access Snowdonia and Barmouth.
Cottage was tastefully decorated and had everything you needed, very warm and cosy with the log burner.

What a super place. The cottage was just perfect – every attention to detail was thought of. The kitchen had all the equipment you needed to cook and have an evening in, in front of the fire (although we did have some trouble keeping the fire going, not sure if it was the wood we were using?).

The bed is out of this world comfy, and the bathroom perfect too.

A short walk into the town (literally 2 minutes) for a fab meal in the pub or one of the many restaurants, or a great takeaway (we treated ourselves to a really lovely indian from Lemon Grass).

Just 15-20 mins drive to Barmouth for great walks on the beach, and Snowdonia National Park, Cader Idris etc are all very close and offer wonderful walks.

No parking on street beside property but in the 6 nights we were there we only struggled once to find somewhere very close by – and even then it was still only 5 minutes walk away! I’m not sure what it would be like in a busier season though, so just something to bear in mind.

We had a wonderful week – as did our dog Poppy – there were even doggy bowls left which was a lovely touch (as well as the welsh cakes, hot chocolate, tea/coffee, shortbread and milk – thank you so much).

We will absolutely be back. Thank you again!

Absolutely beautiful cottage – lovely decor, seriously well appointed (I sound like an estate agent!) fab shower and THE most comfortable bed!
It was in a fab location – Dolgellau is a lovely place – and the people were really friendly – I didn’t have the best weather – but it didn’t matter – thank you.

We had the most amazing Christmas and NY at this lovely cottage. It is super classy, trendy, but so comfy cottageyou will find all you need in the kitchen & fire burner is just amazing .. Dolgellauu is perfect location for hiking and exploring or just stroll around .. also many great places to eat in the town.. you will love it! Thank you Gary for sharing your beautiful place with us

We fell in love with Dolgellau and having a home-base at Ty-Eiddew made our visit even sweeter! What a warm, comfy, and absolutely perfect place to stay while visiting this magical area of Wales. We didn’t have a car (visiting from the US) and it was super easy to get where we wanted to go via bus or on foot. Cadair Idris is not to be missed, nor are pints at the Torrent Walk or a visit to the Gwin Dylanwad wine bar for truly outstanding wine and food. We can’t imagine a more awesome week of adventuring and really getting to nestle into the gifts of Welsh culture through the wonderful friends we met while there. Ty-Eiddew will definitely be getting a visit from us again in the future! Much gratitude.

We normally stay in rural locations so were a bit apprehensive about staying right in Town with no parking space.
However, no need. Parking was not an issue as always found somewhere close by and the the Town centre location proved to be very convenient and a refreshing change – no need to keep getting in the car looking for somewhere to eat.
Cottage was ideal, clean and very cosy.
Thanks to the Owner, Gary for his excellent help.
Faults? Minor really but maybe a softer mattress and a blind for the velux window in the bedroom.
Overall, we were most impressed.

A really gorgeous cottage, beautifully decorated with all mod cons. Well equipped kitchen and a washing machine. Set in a charming village with lovely shops, pubs and places to eat. There is a well stocked Co-op within walking distance. I agree with a previous review that a light weight summer duvet would be good.

We had a lovely holiday in the cottage . Everything first class ,decor fittings ,and such a comfortable bed . People in and around area very nice and friendly.
Lovely tea rooms, and nice hotel a short walk away. A blind at the velux window to filter early morning sun would be nice . A truly lovely cottage . Well done owners JEAN and Frank x

Fantastic Cottage in great location for exploring the mountains beaches and beautiful Snowdonia area but also right in the heart of the town for great local shops and pubs. Everything was perfect we loved it all!
