Large Self Catering Holiday Home Near Conwy | Sycamore-Cottage

My husband and I stayed here in July with my parents and four children. Obviously, visiting as a large family we were really looking for a nice spacious, fully furnished self-catering cottage. We were pleased to see that, that was exactly what we got. We saw online that the cottage appeared to be nice and contemporary which is great if you’re looking for that ‘hotel-like experience’ where all your amenities are new and up to date. It was easy to settle in too as everything was really easy to use, a good thing when you’re visiting with three generations of the same family. I have to say, the fact that the cottage was located close to a fly fishing centre was a hit with my father.

It was important to us that we spent this get-away doing things together as we are normally a very busy family, always in and out, coming and going. Knowing that there were plenty of things to be doing as a family was definitely one of the most persuasive factors of us staying in this particular area.

On our first day, we decided to visit Conwy as it was the closest of all the places we wanted to visit during our stay. There was a really nice feel about the town with the castle walls peering high over the shops and buildings which really added to its character. When we entered it we were amazed to see so many areas of the building still standing strong, knowing that it was built around 1300. Our two youngest were fascinated, and they really hadn’t seen anything like it before so it was a great educational experience for them too. We also visited the surrounding gift shops and even the smallest house in Britain. We stopped off at a lovely restaurant on the way back which offered views over the sea which was really nice as we ate.

After a great night of relaxing and settling in we spent our second day in Llandudno. Set right next to the seaside it was a lovely place to visit as we don’t get to visit the beach too often these days. We took a long walk on the pier and visited the amusements before we decided to do a bit of shopping and grab a bite to eat. In the afternoon, we all took a trip up to the Great Orme by tram. It was a little windy but we saw some amazing sites over the sea and took some beautiful photographs of the family together. By late afternoon we were all ready to head back to the cottage after stopping off to pick up some food for our evening meal.

On our final day at the cottage my father really wanted to try out fly fishing on site, so the boys decided to do that together while my mother, my daughter and I went for a walk around the local area to take in some fresh air. We really wanted to make the most of the time we had left around such beautiful scenery before we had to leave, early in the morning and even decided to eat our dinner outside on that evening. We are thinking of making it an annual trip, and we can’t wait to come back again.
