TOP 10 | THINGS TO DO THIS HALF TERM IN NORTH WALES

Published on 25 Sep 2017 by Gwion Llwyd

October half term is nearly upon us and to make sure you get the most out of your Snowdonia stay, here is a break down of the Top 10 | Things To Do This Half Term in North Wales…. both paid for and free!!!

1 | WALK UP A MOUNTAIN

This is absolutely something you should encourage your children to do. It is a unique experience to North Wales and gives them such a sense of achievement once they have done it. Depending on the ages and abilities in your party will determine which peak you decide to go for, but it’s safe to say there is something for everyone!

2 | FFOREST COASTER

Zipworld has taken North Wales by storm and now they have a total of 9 adventure activities across 3 different locations around the area. The latest, Fforest Coaster is what I would recommend; a roller coaster in the woods no less just outside Betws Y Coed…. it’s a lot of fun!

3 | STARGAZING

Having Dark Skies status means that Snowdonia is one of the best places in the world to look at the stars above. As the evenings are drawing in, this time of year is great for stargazing, so grab a blanket, some hot chocolate, do a bit of research on what’s above us and enjoy the wonders that await you!

4 | SUP

Even though it’s October, it’s still a good time to give Stand Up Paddle Boarding a go. Whether it isin the sea or one of the lakes, its a really great sport to do and something that all the family can get involved in. There are a number of activity providers that offer it including:
SUP BARMOUTH | SUP NORTH WALES | PSYCHED PADDLEBOARDING | SURF SNOWDONIA

5 | SURF SNOWDONIA

The UK Pro Surf Tour is coming to Surf Snowdonia this half term and it’s set to be a great day with an amazing opportunity to see the best UK surfers do their stuff. Live music and food will be available at the event and its free to get in.

6 | COED Y BRENIN

Free to get into, Coed Y Brenin is a real must to visit if you are here for half term. It offers, mountain biking trails, running trails and walking trails in the most beautiful woods. Again catering for all ages and abilities it’s a great day out. There is a cafe on site or plenty of benches if you want to bring your own food.

7 | THE GREAT ORME

A bit of a hidden gem, there is so much to do at the top of the Great Orme in Llandudno. From the Tramway, the Bronze age copper mines, the visitor centre, the fantastic walks and views to the exclusive Kashmir goats, it’s definitely worth a visit.

8 | NATIONAL SLATE MUSEM

Located in Llanberis, a visit here takes you back in time, telling you the history of the slate industry here in North Wales. Workshops, talks and demonstrations give you a very good insight as to what life would have been like. Free entry and with a cafe and visitor centre and great walks around Llyn Pardan, it’s a great day out.

9| GLASFRYN PARC

The one stop shop for activities for all the family at reasonable prices. From karting, archery, wake boarding, bowling and more, the kids will love a day at Glasfryn Parc!

10 | GEO-CACHING

The great thing about geo-caching in Snowdonia is the varied landscape you cover hunting for the caches. One day can see you on the beach, in the forest by a lake in the mountains. No matter what age, there is part of everyone who likes to indulge in a bit of geocaching…. just download the app!
