Here is your guide on where to play golf in North Wales:
ABERSOCH
The Abersoch Golf Club has been voted the friendliest golf course! It is an 18 hole links and parkland course and has recently been placed 17th best golf course in Wales. It opened in 1908, designed by Harry Varden and has been referred to as a ‘jewel on the Welsh Riviera’.
BALA
The Bala Golf Club has a 10 hole course is situated 1000 above sea level, giving incredible views of the surrounding mountains and Llyn Tegid. The current course was designed by local golf pro, Syd Williams from Llandudno and started life in 1928. Don’t be fooled by the length of the course, it is said to be quite a challenge!
HARLECH
Listed in the top 100 golf courses in the world, this 18 hole course really is stunning with mountain and sea views as well as the castle! Created in 1894, it is one of the younger ‘senior’ golf clubs in the UK. One of the first links golf courses to be created, it has a stong connection to the Royal family as King Edward VI played there and Edward VII was captain in 1935.
LLANDUDNO
Founded in 1915, this championship golf course has it all. Designed by James Braid, it is an 18 hole parklands and links course with breathtaking views of the Conwy Bay and the Great Orme. The club house has been “among the best in the country and certainly the finest in Wales”.
NEFYN
This 27 hole championship course stands apart from the all the others due to its unique setting and design. Set around 3 sets of 9 holes, this course is truly spectacluar.
PORTHMADOG
Created in 1905 by James Braid, The Porthmadog Golf Course is a mix of heathland and links and has a place on the ‘Fine Golf Website’. The views on this 18 hole course, are of course beautiful.
PWLLHELI
Clwb Golff Pwllheli was founded in 1900 and is a unique 18 hole course, again, designed by James Braid. It offers both tree-lined parkland and a links golfing experience. The golf club offers views of the Cambrian Coast, Snowdonia Mountains and the Llyn Peninsula.
