Wales in summertime is the ultimate adventure playground, with rugged mountains, roaring rivers, and stunning coastlines just waiting to be explored. Whether you’re a seasoned adrenaline junkie or just looking to try something new, here are 7 epic adventures to get your adrenaline pumping this summer.

Extreme Canyoning – Porthmadog

Ready for a wet and wild adventure? Extreme Canyoning with Porthmadog-based Adrenaline Addicts is not for the faint-hearted. Take on the river, slide down flumes, abseil, free fall from a waterfall, and leap from the cliff edges (all jumps optional!). For groups of 10 or more, you can even zip wire from the top of a waterfall. It’s an action-packed adventure experience to remember.

Velocity – Penrhyn Quarry, Bethesda

For the ultimate adrenaline kick, how about flying headfirst over Penrhyn Quarry on the world’s fastest zip line? At 1 mile long, Zip World’s Velocity is the longest zip line in Europe – and the fastest in the world – reaching speeds of over 100 mph. You’ll warm up on the ‘little zip’, at speeds of 30-40 mph, before hopping into an ex-army truck and heading up the mountain track to the top of the ‘big zip’. With four parallel zip lines, you can share this bucket-list experience with family and friends.

Coasteering – Llyn Peninsula, Anglesey & Eryri

Part cliff jumping, part wild swimming and part scrambling – coasteering is one of the most exhilarating ways to experience Wales’ coastline. This high-energy activity will see you traversing rocky shorelines, leaping into deep coastal pools, exploring sea caves, and maybe even getting up close to coastal wildlife – all under the guidance of expert instructors.

Try Anglesey Adventures, Abersoch Watersports or Snowdonia Adventures for a memorable summer adventure!

Descend into vast caverns to zip line in the dark, bounce on neon-lit trampolines, navigate underground lakes, or take on an exhilarating subterranean obstacle course.

Rock Climbing & Abseiling – Eryri National Park & Anglesey

North Wales is a climber’s paradise, offering plenty to challenge all abilities  – from sea cliffs to mountain crags – and best of all, spectacular views guaranteed! Whether you’re a total beginner or a seasoned pro, there’s something here for you.

Try Anglesey Adventures for full or half-day sessions in the breathtaking surroundings of Breakwater Country Park. Learn to scale the cliffs and enjoy the thrill of abseiling back down. Fforest Coaster – Zip World, Betws-y-Coed

Buckle up and race through scenic Welsh woodland on the UK’s only alpine coaster. Located near Betws-y-Coed, the Fforest Coaster at Zip World takes you on a 1Km adventure through the trees. Start with a slow ascent to admire the scenery, followed by a thrilling descent as you wind and weave through the forest at speeds up to 25 mph. Each cart is self-controlled, so you decide how fast (or slow!) to go. With three rides per ticket, this is a must-try family favourite.

White Water Rafting – Bala & Llangollen

Get soaked (and maybe scream a little) as you tackle the rapids of North Wales. For an exhilarating adventure, the Tryweryn River offers roaring rapids and big thrills, while the rapids near Llangollen are a favourite with thrill seekers. Try The National White Water Centre, or Bearded Men Adventures for sessions with experienced guides. You’ll come away with shaky legs, soaking clothes and fantastic memories!
