1. Porth Neigwl (Hell’s Mouth), Llŷn Peninsula

This massive, four-mile stretch of sand and stones is a wild paradise. Because it faces the open Atlantic, it’s a favorite for surfers, and there is more than enough room for your dog to chase a ball for hours without bothering a soul.

• The Nearby Pub: The Sun Inn in Llanengan. A wonderfully traditional, dog-friendly pub with a great beer garden and hearty food.

2. Porth Iago, Llŷn Peninsula

A stunning, sheltered cove tucked between two headlands. With its white sands and turquoise waters, you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the Mediterranean. Dogs are welcome year-round, though note there is a small parking fee via the farm lane.

3. Aberffraw Bay (Traeth Mawr), Anglesey
