Four Bedroom Sea Front Holiday Cottage in Aberdovey | Aweldyfi

My happy childhood holiday memories of sandy chips and wooden forks meant I really liked Aberdyfi from the minute we arrived. The wooden forks have been replaced by blue plastic ones but my chips drenched in vinegar tasted every bit as good. Add the harbour sounds and fresh sea and we all got that real ‘holiday’ feeling straight away.

I should talk about the house. First of all, it’s in a great position. Right on the sea front and walking distance to the pub and shops. It’s a big 3 storey house, typical Victorian architecture I guess. The huge bay windows at the front meant we had a great view across the estuary and out to the distant Cambrian Mountains.

Inside the kitchen is well equipped and has large double doors opening onto the dining room which meant I didn’t feel left out when cooking breakfast. There’s a lounge next door and four bedrooms in total. Two of which are en-suite and plus another two bathrooms. Glenn and Rachel, the owners, take great care of the house so everything is newly decorated and gleaming. Rachel has great taste and has furnished the house to a really high standard. Glenn’s included all the necessary boys’ toys, LCD Digital TV, DVD, MP3 etc.

Location

Aberdyfi is a very fashionable town with some fantastic pubs and restaurants, as well as all the usual shops. The town, somehow, remains untarnished from the neon commercialism that has spoilt a lot of British seaside resorts. We enjoyed an afternoon crab fishing on the old wharf and we must have built hundreds of sand castles on what is a fantastically clean beach. I’m told that the yacht club is very active and that the links golf course is among the best in Wales.

The more energetic out there also have plenty to chose from. Kite surfing, white water rafting, sea kayaking and mountain biking are all available. Tywyn and the famous Tal Y Llyn steam railway is 10 minutes to the north and the city of Aberystwyth is about 30 minutes to the south. So, in conclusion, if you decide to stay at Aweldyfi I’m confident you’ll have a nice time, but drop us an email or give us a ring if you have any questions.

A perfect holiday thank you. The location is fantastic and the accommodation met all our needs. Such wonderful views looking out on the estuary. To have such a beautiful holiday home that allows us to take our 2 small dogs is a real treat.
Look forward to staying there again

We felt immediately at home. Characterful building in a beautiful setting, equipped with everything you need. The building was under scaffolding for repairs, delayed by weather. Host proactively offered a discount which was appreciated. Would stay again.

Lovely Homely house , great location
The house does need a deep clean , lots of dust and cobwebs , looks like the cleaners just hoover the Center of the lounge as lots of debris and dust behind the Sofas, the kitchen works tops are very sticky. The cooker isnt ideal to use as the numbers of all worn off on the dials. So don’t know what temperature you’re cooking at, the grill element only heats up half way so not really fit for purpose, the fridge could also do with a deep clean.
While the beds are very comfy, the bedding could do it updating and in need of new pillows they are old and didn’t have pillow protectors on
We have stayed in numerous properties over the 25 years of coming to Aberdovey. While this isn’t the cleanest of houses. It could be a lovely house with some TLC.

We booked this house with friends over the Christmas period and had a fantastic time.
The house had everything we needed and in a fabulous location close to all amenities.
The owner is very friendly and was on hand for anything that was needed. So thank you everyone for making our stay memorable.

We loved our stay at Aweldyfi. Everything you need is on hand. We did have to ring the cleaners to drop us off a hoover which they did straight away.
I’ll be honest though, it could have been cleaner.
A lot of cobwebs on windows and perhaps this is me being picky but it looks like the cleaners just hoover the middle of rooms and not round the edges. There was a lot of dust gathered round the bed legs and the bed frame was really dusty.

The location of the property is superb!
At least 3 pubs within walking distance, one a Marston pub ( The Dovey ) which served excellent food.
All in all a lovely stay.

This is a great house in the perfect location. Plenty of space and bathrooms for our party. Comfortable beds and sofas – enough room for a large party to spread out over the week. Well equipped kitchen.
It is lovely to sit out front and watch the world go by.
Just a couple of things, some of the bedding was a bit tired and needs replacing; also, as mentioned by someone else, it would be good to know what day is bin day.

Lovely location on the seafront. A very pleasant traditional Victorian house with everything we needed. We had a lovely family stay here.

What a great place, lovely old house plenty of space to spread out. Comfy beds and nice to have the privacy of en-suites. Who wants to go to foreign countries when you can wake up to views like that every morning. Fortunately we found spaces at the front to park the motorbikes each day so did not need to use the parking passes. The roads around mid Wales must be best anywhere for motorcycling. All in all loved our stay at Aweldyfi.
Just one small issue, we understood there would be a welcome pack at the house, there wasn’t. No problem as the shops are so handy and only few minutes up to Tywyn. Just thought I would mention it.
