Four Bedroom Sea Front Holiday Cottage in Aberdovey | Aweldyfi

My happy childhood holiday memories of sandy chips and wooden forks meant I really liked Aberdyfi from the minute we arrived. The wooden forks have been replaced by blue plastic ones but my chips drenched in vinegar tasted every bit as good. Add the harbour sounds and fresh sea and we all got that real ‘holiday’ feeling straight away.

I should talk about the house. First of all, it’s in a great position. Right on the sea front and walking distance to the pub and shops. It’s a big 3 storey house, typical Victorian architecture I guess. The huge bay windows at the front meant we had a great view across the estuary and out to the distant Cambrian Mountains.

Inside the kitchen is well equipped and has large double doors opening onto the dining room which meant I didn’t feel left out when cooking breakfast. There’s a lounge next door and four bedrooms in total. Two of which are en-suite and plus another two bathrooms. Glenn and Rachel, the owners, take great care of the house so everything is newly decorated and gleaming. Rachel has great taste and has furnished the house to a really high standard. Glenn’s included all the necessary boys’ toys, LCD Digital TV, DVD, MP3 etc.

Location

Aberdyfi is a very fashionable town with some fantastic pubs and restaurants, as well as all the usual shops. The town, somehow, remains untarnished from the neon commercialism that has spoilt a lot of British seaside resorts. We enjoyed an afternoon crab fishing on the old wharf and we must have built hundreds of sand castles on what is a fantastically clean beach. I’m told that the yacht club is very active and that the links golf course is among the best in Wales.

The more energetic out there also have plenty to chose from. Kite surfing, white water rafting, sea kayaking and mountain biking are all available. Tywyn and the famous Tal Y Llyn steam railway is 10 minutes to the north and the city of Aberystwyth is about 30 minutes to the south. So, in conclusion, if you decide to stay at Aweldyfi I’m confident you’ll have a nice time, but drop us an email or give us a ring if you have any questions.

Great holiday property – plenty of room to spread out, cracking sun trap in the front garden to watch the world go by. Sit and have a coffee looking through the bay windows to while away an hour or three. Great position on the front, no where is far away.
Well equipped kitchen with plenty of crockery and cutlery. Don’t forget to take your dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Heated clothes horse was a bonus. A first for a holiday cottage – enough toilet rolls!!!
As to be expected with a holiday cottage at the end of the summer, a few things are a little tired, a couple of bulbs need replacing, towels provided are for slim Jim’s lol, but hey – that’s all minor. We had a great week and are looking forward to our next visit- thanks all.

Aberdyfi is a lovely place to stay! Had fantastic walk on the Wales Coast Path and surrounding count. Aweldyfi is a great base, central with fantastic views of the Dyfi Estuary. Warm and cosy and plenty of space for a group of 8 to eat, sleep and chill.

Had a great stay at this property on the 18.6.21 for a week. House was amazing full of character, stunning views and in walking distance to the pubs.
Loved the kitchen and spent the evening around kitchen island with the family.

Lovely comfortable warm house, great location, views, well equipped kitchen, good modern bathrooms, Bedroons clean and comfortable but most perhaps could do with a bit more TLC, as too the lounge area and outside seating or lack of as we had to sit on the wall and steps. Wouldn’t put us off returning though.

We enjoyed a very happy week in Aweldyfi. The house is ideally situated for a family holiday, just a couple of minutes away from the beach and quayside. Sea views from all the rooms of the Aberdovey estuary are lovely and the house offers plenty of space. The small front garden is a real bonus … an ideal spot for an evening drink and watching the tide ebb and flow.

This was our second visit to Awel Dyfi as a family and the holiday was enjoyed by all.
The house is very convenient and well equipped and the provision of a highchair made life easier.
The views from all the windows are superb and it was even good to watch the rain travelling towards us over the bay. The weather was mixed but the children (and some of the braver adults) swam in the sea daily.
Will probably be back in a year or two.

Stopped many times in Aberdovey when we were younger and love the location. The house was just perfect for our needs, great location and a lot of thought has gone into the tasteful renovation, the kitchen is fantastic and well equipped, and it was a very comfortable stay, will be going back and cant recommend it enough, many thanks!

What a great location for a break. Despite staying early in the season, the sun came out every day.The accommodation was fantastic – great views, and very comfortable. Like everyone else, we spent a lot of time looking out of the windows at the ever changing seascape. Aberdovey itself also proved to be a hit. We recommend the deli just along from the house for breakfast, and the Seabreeze Hotel for dinner. I suspect we will return!
