Self Catering Barn Conversion with Sea Views | Cefn-Isaf

Cefn-Isaf, a self catering barn conversion with sea views, is located in a spectacular position on a Welsh mountain farm. Behind the cottage, ancient oak woodland stand bravely at the foot of the rugged slopes of the Rhinog mountains. In front, hills of green grass roll down to the picturesque seaside village of Llanbedr and the beautiful Cardigan Bay Coastline beyond. A truly idyllic holiday location.

This modern conversion of a 17th century barn sleeps up to 4 people (plus a cot) in one double room and one twin room. Both bedrooms are spacious and bright with high vaulted ceilings. Exposed oak beams and ledge and brace doors are combined with a more modern facilities and decorative style. A central bathroom, which divides the two bedrooms, has a large shower cubicle and a bath.

The open plan living area downstairs is naturally great for family holidays where everybody wants to be together. A contemporary kitchen with modern appliances sits at one end of the barn. The solid wood worktops of the kitchen overlook a beautiful gothic like set of dining chairs and table. A small utility / boot room and separate ground floor wc and washbasin also leads off the kitchen.

The sitting area at the other end of the barn is again spacious and comfortable. It also benefits from south facing French doors which, as well as filling the room with light, provides access to a small patio area where guests can sit and enjoy that spectacular view.

Plenty of private off road parking and a well maintained lawned area around the corner to the front of the barn.

Location

Cefn-Isaf Barn is on a Welsh mountain hill farm in the Nantcol valley, high above the picturesque seaside town on Llanbedr in Snowdonia North Wales. The village boasts two pubs, a popular restaurant and grocery store.

Ten minutes away by car, the towns of Harlech and Barmouth offer a larger choice of restaurants and shops. Lot’s of adventure type activities around, including white water rafting, mountain biking, pony trekking etc. Others will enjoy the prehistoric structures, medieval castles and narrow gage railways that dot a landscape steeped in history.

A lot of guests will flock to the cottage for a traditional beach holiday of course. Miles of sandy coastline stretches from Porthmadog in the North down to Aberdovey to the South.

Snowdon and her sisters are a 30 minute drive away. But, if you’re a keen walker, Cwm Nantcol and the Rhinog Mountains just behind the cottage remains one of the UK’s true wildernesses. The mountains here are arguably every bit as spectacular, but benefit from being a bit more undiscovered. At the moment at least.

Words are not enough to describe this absolutely gorgeous barn and its stunning views, we were there over New Year and the Christmas tree and decorations looked amazing. The views all around are outstanding and we were lucky enough to see the northern lights. The barn itself was immaculate and so cosy. Gareth is a brilliant host, so friendly and we had some great chats with him. We had some lovely food at The Victoria pub in the village and a great Sunday dinner. Nantcol waterfalls are a short walk away but we didn’t visit as spent everyday on the gorgeous beaches which are only a short drive away. Thank you Gareth and we are already looking forward to our return visit.

Really lovely farmhouse.
Beautiful home, in a wonderful location. The Christmas tree and decorations was a lovely touch, as was the cake!
Host was exceptional, will definitely look to stay there again.

A wonderful barn conversion with open plan accommodation perfect for a small family group. Views are amazing. Lovely walks from the barn itself.
The Victoria Inn in Llanbedr, a short drive or 45 minute walk, has great food and beers.
If you want peace and quiet in a home from home this place is ideal.
Host is super hospitable.

This is an exceptional cottage, with great views, comfortable and warm, immaculately kept, nicely presented and as others have said, a great host! Convenient for hill walking, but the village and Harlech are not too far away either. 10/10

What can we say except WOW! Cefn Isaf is just a little hidden gem. The cottage is beautiful and surrounded by the most spectacular views. We were treated to the most amazing sunsets each evening.
Our little Jack Russell had the best time playing with Ned the farm dog and watching the cows and sheep from the enclosed garden/patio area.
Gareth is a wonderful and caring host. From calling the day before we arrived to introduce himself and ensure we had his details in case of any issues, to checking in with us during our stay to make sure all was well, whilst still allowing us privacy to enjoy our stay
We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much to Gareth and family for making us feel so welcome and allowing us to stay in at your beautiful cottage.

What a wonderful cottage, location and host. We had a fabulous week. Gareth and his family couldn’t have been more welcoming or amenable. The cottage is very well appointed, and we all had a great time. There is so much to just minutes away, the walk to the waterfalls, the beaches are amazing. Thank you.

We’ve just returned from a wonderful weekend away at this beautiful cottage. Its location is both tranquil and stunning. Gareth, the host, is kind, courteous and extremely helpful with excellent communication prior to our visit and when we arrived. The furniture and fixtures are all finished to a very high standard and were immaculate in their presentation. It was such a pleasure stepping off the merry go round for a few days to decompress and relax, just what was needed. We will certainly return to this beautiful part of Wales.

Amazing stay in an amazing location/cottage with an amazing host too. Everything from Gareth contacting us beforehand to check we were OK to finding the place spotlessly clean with everything we needed for our 12 day holiday. Ideally located for wandering and visiting the area (we used the Comments book in the cottage as our guidebook plus asked Gareth as well !). Ned and Tess (the farm dogs) were real stars too, so much so that the day was never complete without a visit (or several). Highly recommend everything about the cottage and Gareth too.
