A beautiful, romantic one bedroom cottage in the hills above Dolgellau, Deer Park Lodge is a fairytale property that shouldn't be missed. The building is an entrance lodge to the ancient deer park of the Nannau Estate in Dolgellau.

The stunning stone lodge's entrance porch opens into an open plan, one up one down layout which is bright and spacious. The ground floor space is tastefully decorated in soft and warm shades, with traditional furnishings which complement the history of the building. The floor is laid with large grey quarry tiles throughout, with a rug placed centrally in front of an inviting roaring log burner. A cosy armchair and leather sofa complete the lounge area, with a beautiful chest utilised as a side table and a Welsh dresser placed in the corner. Windows to three aspects of the room, as well as the large glass panelled door, flood the space with light and provide countryside views all around.

The small but well equipped kitchen area provides ample cooking space for two. Farmhouse style wooden units, finished in grey, surround a traditional white Belfast sink and modern built in oven and grill. A farmhouse dining table, perfect for two, is located in the corner of the room.

Upstairs, the romantic one bedroom cottage in the hills above Dolgellau is equally as impressive. The beautifully designed bedroom area has high ceilings which make it feel large and spacious. A large custom designed, gorgeous wooden bed unit, complete with built in side tables, provides a stunning feature in the middle of the space. This is complimented by a chunky farmhouse chest of drawers and side chairs. A wooden shelving unit packed full of books and cast iron style radiators finish off the space beautifully, and all fixtures and fittings are of high quality and specification. The bedroom area has windows to three aspects, with outstanding views across the surrounding area.

An en suite shower room is separated from the bedroom by a large sliding wooden stable door. The en suite has a large shower cubicle with rain forest shower head and a smaller multi purpose hand held head, with large grey tiles to compliment the flooring downstairs. The remainder of the shower room fittings are of a traditional style, in keeping with the history of the building.

We really enjoyed our short break at Deer Park Lodge. The accommodation and facilities were of a very high standard and the location was fantastic, remote yet within easy reach of local amenities. Would happily recommend this place.

Deer-Park Lodge was such a relaxing place to stay, great walks straight from the door, stunning views and amazing starry nights. The accommodation was very comfortable, made even cosier with the wood burning stove. We would love to visit again in early spring.

We returned for our second holiday at Deer Park Lodge due to falling in love with it on our first visit. A truly amazing location, waking up seeing the sunrise over Cadair Idris and seeing sunset over the mountain range is magical, no emergency sirens going every few minutes which makes it really relaxing, in fact you cannot hear any nearby traffic due to its unique location. This visit was made even better by seeing the wild deer in the woods above and behind the lodge especially at first light. The brook running through the property is so tranquil as the water cascades over the rocks, plenty of wildlife and our daily visit from the farmers sheep to the lodge gate. Highly recommended if you need a special place to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings and nature

We had an absolutely fantastic long weekend away at Deer Park Lodge. The little house was cosy and comfortable with a warm fireplace, the hot tub was extremely relaxing (once ready to go, some preparation required!) and the surroundings were even more beautiful, peaceful and secluded than we were expecting. Cannot recommend this place enough and the nearby Precipice Walk is a must, especially at sunset.

Beautiful property in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Very quiet and relaxing, but only a 5 minute drive or 40 minute walk from the town of Dolgellau. Plenty of walks to do in the surrounding area, which the hosts had very kindly left information on. Perfect place if you have dogs! If you do have dogs, be aware that there is a right of way through the property. However, we only had a couple of walkers use it during our stay.

Absolutely beautiful. The photos don’t do it justice honestly, the view from the hot tub of the mountains was something else. The place was clean and the fire was so nice. We had a lovely time.

Overall we absolutely loved our stay at the lodge, it is a really beautiful old building that has been refurbished to a great standard, everything felt high quality and well considered. The surroundings are magical, the views from every window are stunning. A real bonus is that the Mach Loop is just across the way so you can catch the fighter jets practicing. Everything was spotless, lovely log fire, perfect little kitchen to cook simple meals. Great sized bedroom with plenty of storage space and a lovely bathroom with a rainforest shower, good water pressure too! A couple of important things if you’re holidaying with your dogs, firstly they aren’t allowed upstairs which I would have liked to know before booking. The garden is fenced but has small gaps under the main gate and by the stream so if your dog is a small escapee like ours you may have to keep an eye on them. There is a public footpath that runs directly across your driveway so a reactive dog may struggle with this.

We had an excellent stay at Deer park Lodge. The lodge is located in beautiful secluded area of the countryside with stunning views of the surrounding hills from almost every window. The property itself is well decorated and very clean, with great amenities included. Despite feeling remote and peaceful it is still very well connected to the town of Dolgellau for supplies or evening meals. An absolute gem, we will definitely be back!
