We really enjoyed our short break at Deer Park Lodge. The accommodation and facilities were of a very high standard and the location was fantastic, remote yet within easy reach of local amenities. Would happily recommend this place.

Deer-Park Lodge was such a relaxing place to stay, great walks straight from the door, stunning views and amazing starry nights. The accommodation was very comfortable, made even cosier with the wood burning stove. We would love to visit again in early spring.

We returned for our second holiday at Deer Park Lodge due to falling in love with it on our first visit. A truly amazing location, waking up seeing the sunrise over Cadair Idris and seeing sunset over the mountain range is magical, no emergency sirens going every few minutes which makes it really relaxing, in fact you cannot hear any nearby traffic due to its unique location. This visit was made even better by seeing the wild deer in the woods above and behind the lodge especially at first light. The brook running through the property is so tranquil as the water cascades over the rocks, plenty of wildlife and our daily visit from the farmers sheep to the lodge gate. Highly recommended if you need a special place to relax and take in the beautiful surroundings and nature

We had an absolutely fantastic long weekend away at Deer Park Lodge. The little house was cosy and comfortable with a warm fireplace, the hot tub was extremely relaxing (once ready to go, some preparation required!) and the surroundings were even more beautiful, peaceful and secluded than we were expecting. Cannot recommend this place enough and the nearby Precipice Walk is a must, especially at sunset.

We love staying at Deer Park Lodge, it is our happy place đ. Beautiful property, tranquil with stunning views. What’s not too like!!
Rachel
Beautiful property in the middle of the Welsh countryside. Very quiet and relaxing, but only a 5 minute drive or 40 minute walk from the town of Dolgellau. Plenty of walks to do in the surrounding area, which the hosts had very kindly left information on. Perfect place if you have dogs! If you do have dogs, be aware that there is a right of way through the property. However, we only had a couple of walkers use it during our stay.
Alison
Beautiful little place in an idyllic location. Lots of walks & places to eat nearby. Itâs very snug.
Aleesha
Absolutely beautiful. The photos donât do it justice honestly, the view from the hot tub of the mountains was something else. The place was clean and the fire was so nice. We had a lovely time.
Sarah
Overall we absolutely loved our stay at the lodge, it is a really beautiful old building that has been refurbished to a great standard, everything felt high quality and well considered. The surroundings are magical, the views from every window are stunning. A real bonus is that the Mach Loop is just across the way so you can catch the fighter jets practicing. Everything was spotless, lovely log fire, perfect little kitchen to cook simple meals. Great sized bedroom with plenty of storage space and a lovely bathroom with a rainforest shower, good water pressure too! A couple of important things if you’re holidaying with your dogs, firstly they aren’t allowed upstairs which I would have liked to know before booking. The garden is fenced but has small gaps under the main gate and by the stream so if your dog is a small escapee like ours you may have to keep an eye on them. There is a public footpath that runs directly across your driveway so a reactive dog may struggle with this.

We had an excellent stay at Deer park Lodge. The lodge is located in beautiful secluded area of the countryside with stunning views of the surrounding hills from almost every window. The property itself is well decorated and very clean, with great amenities included. Despite feeling remote and peaceful it is still very well connected to the town of Dolgellau for supplies or evening meals. An absolute gem, we will definitely be back!

Our second stay at this beautiful cottage after our visit in April where we got engaged. It is everything we remembered comfy; clean and views that are stunning. The owners left a wonderful bottle of champagne and chocolates celebrating our engagement which was a lovely and kind gesture.
Such a romantic cottage and looking forward to going back in April next year.

Amazing place in a perfect location. The property was immaculate.
We did have some trouble finding it but that was probably down to us as no one else mentioned itđ

This cottage is situated in such a delightful position with glorious views over to Cader Idris. It is very well appointed inside so makes for a very comfortable stay. Walks from the door are a pleasure – and mountain climbs or beach strolls within an easy drive. Very good food at Bistro Bermo and The Bank in Barmouth. – but you might need to book.

This place is amazing. The moment we arrived and drove up the track to the lodge we immediately fell in love with the place. The surroundings and views are stunning. It felt like we were the only people on earth. So peaceful and relaxing. We saw deer, squirrels, and birds including Jays all just from the doorstep and two bird of prey circling when we ventured into the grounds of the deer park. Canât wait to return

Our third time at Deer Park Lodge and it was just as lovely as the first, and this time, we actually saw deer in the deer park! Looking forward to the next visit.

What a Fantastic cottage set in a beautiful location. Great to wake up to the birds song and no traffic. Itâs was the most relaxing 5 days weâve ever had . No Tv was a big bonus and just listening to the radio. The walks around the area were amazing especially the precipice walk. The hot tub was amazing especially after a long walk.
We canât wait to come back to this fairytale cottage next year.

Sam and I had the most amazing time at the Lodge. It was the most beautiful place, wonderfully furnished and with the most stunning views. It was also extra special as I proposed to Sam and she said yes. The best place we have ever been too.

Had a lovely few nights in this cottage starting Christmas Day. Itâs a beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. If you want to shut yourself away from the world for a time, this is the perfect place to do it. If you want to go out walking then you also have that option. The history of the area is mind blowing. Especially the Nannau house. A truly enjoyable experience. Would love to go back soon.

Stayed at this amazing Lodge for 4 nights, wish it was for longer. Stunning location, fabulously furnished, amazing views of Cader Idris from the window of the bedroom, waking up to the sound of birds and water cascading down the brook in the garden was lush, highly recommended for total chill out and relaxation with just the deer, sheep, birds and squirrels as neighbours. Log fire in the evening and early mornings was real cozy, couldnât have asked for a more romantic setting highly recommended with great walks in the area around the Nannau estate

A cosy and well-appointed cottage, perfect for a peaceful getaway. Lovely mountain views and lots of great walking routes from the door. Dolgellau was less than 10 minutes away by car and we hired bikes for Mawddach trail there, as well as frequenting the great cafes. A lovely cottage in a great position for touring South Snowdonia.

We had an amazing weekend at Deer Park Lodge. Such a beautifully decorated cosy cottage with amazing views and walks literally on your doorstep. This truly is a very special place and we wouldn’t hesitate recommending a stay here. Would love to return one day.

Splendid cottage in a stunning location. We were lucky to have excellent weather in early April, so sat outside several time enjoying the view of Cader Idris. We walked in the Deer Park and enjoyed several other local walks. The Lodge is very well furnished and comfortable, and generally pretty well equipped. We cook a lot and missed an electric kettle especially as there is only a two plate hob, apart from that difficult to fault. We hope to return.

Deer Park Lodge was amazing – both location and decor, we thoroughly enjoyed our relaxing short stay there. On arrival it was a wet and windy evening, but we were warm and cosy by the log fire listening to it. The rest of our stay the weather was good so we enjoyed the views and local walks from Deer Park Lodge, plus a trip to Barmouth.
Definitely a place we will return too.

Lovely peaceful lodge with amazing views. We woke to see Cadair Idris coped with snow and cloud in the valley below – utterly beautiful.
Enjoyed walks from the door including Precipice Walk.
We watched six bullfinches in the tree opposite the front window feeding on the young buds.

A heavenly stay in a beautiful place. The private drive was picturesque, but take it carefully! Having no TV actually enhanced the experience for us. We did the Precipice walk and it was a novelty to start a walk from the gate in the garden. I would be delighted to return to this property to explore the many other walks nearby.

Another excellent stay at Deer Park Lodge. We do appreciate the high standard of finish and equipping of the cottage. Despite our visit coinciding with some very cold weather, the heating worked well and we were never cold. There are some excellent walks and cycle rides directly from the cottage as well as many others a short drive away. We highly recommend the cottage and will be making further return visits.

Just returned from a New Year break at the lodge and absolutely loved it! We arrived in the dark and got a glimpse of its beauty so were excited for the morning. We werenât disappointed. The views are amazing. Plenty of walks nearby for all abilities and the lodge was so warm & cosy to come back to. Dogs loved the enclosed garden. Only when it got light did we realise weâd got a beautiful stream running through it! Didnât miss TV. Instead we chatted, read (Nannau Estate Book is a great read), listened to music and played dominoes which I havenât done since I was a child. The kitchen is small with very little storage so we used the dresser across the room which worked fine. Prep area is limited as well. Suited us fine but might be a challenge for others. Also would have appreciated a longer sofa to curl up on. For us these were minor points which wonât stop us booking again. Weâre thinking spring or summer so we can enjoy the many bluebells and foxgloves we can see dotted about. This is the first time weâve used Dioni and we havenât been disappointed! đđđđđ

My husband and I had a very relaxing stay at the Deer-Park-Lodge and would like to thank you for making us feel so at home! A very cosy and peaceful abode with breathtaking views out of the many windows! We went for walks around the lodge and drove to the Traeth Abermaw Beach. An abundance of wildlife to spot too!
We would highly recommend this hidden gem for all who want to unwind and enjoy nature at its best!

This was our second time at Deer Park Lodge this year and once again it was wonderful, despite the weather!. There are so many things to do and walks in the area that it needs multiple visits. The house, as before, was wonderful, and the spectacle of the resident colony of bats was a special treat. We will be returning again!

Our second stay at Deer Park Lodge and itâs amazing as ever. Stunning views, fantastic walks, so peaceful and relaxing. Saw two deer in the woods as we drove down the drive one afternoon such a lovely sight. Canât wait to return, hopefully in the very near future.

We had the most magical week in this beautiful lodge. We felt as if we were in our own special fairytale, up in the mountains surrounded by breathtaking scenery. From the moment we arrived along the long and winding driveway and saw the gates we felt as if weâd arrived somewhere very special indeed. The lodge has a magical quality about it and it took your breath away.
Our stay at Deer Park Lodge was made all the more special as we married in Dolgellau during our week long stay.
We shall never forget waking up see to Cader Iris mountain range from our bed on our wedding morning . The peace, the unspoilt beauty and the weather – which was absolutely glorious all week! What memories we have been fortunate enough to make.
We have stayed in Dolgellau many times and it holds a very special place in our hearts, as does this beautiful lodge now.
The night sky was a particular highlight for us. We saw the wonderful full moon, twinkling stars and shooting stars.
The Indian fire pit is a lovely addition to the garden and we enjoyed bbqs and a fire, sitting out late into the evening. The garden area is a beautiful place to sit and admire the views.
We had the occasional walker pass through, but all were respectful and this just added to the charm. One walker even shared a sausage from our bbq!
We had a couple of sheep visit, saw deer and beautiful buzzards soaring in the thermals. Look out for the super friendly little robin that visits in the late afternoon too.
We arrived to a lovely bottle of wine, which was very kind.
Although there is very little you could fault with this stunning lodge there are a couple of small âeven better ifsââŚ
It would have been nice to have found some basic cleaning products for the kitchen/ bathroom e.g. bleach or toilet cleaner ( we havenât had to source these ourselves before when staying in a rental cottage, particularly, with COVID in mind) Also, there was no bin liner in the kitchen bin on arrival.
There is no iron or ironing board, which normally on a stay away wouldnât be too much of a problem but it would have been helpful especially as there is ample room in the downstairs cupboard to store them.
We were lucky enough to enjoy the heatwave whilst staying at Deer Park Lodge so the following points werenât so relevant to us but we feel they would impact your stay if you were there during the winter months or during bad weather. ( We have stayed in Dolgellau and surrounded in areas in very bad weather before).
The downstairs living area has no curtains. Which, is absolutely understandable given the stunning views however, we feel this would lead to it feeling less cosy during the winter months. Also, the kitchen wasnât as kitted out with cooking utensils/equipment as other self catering properties we have stayed in.
These really are minor points though, we just wanted to ensure we had given a thorough and honest review.
This was the most amazing week of our lives and staying at Deer Park Lodge was integral to this. We shall never forget it.
Ellis Selway
A stunning secluded property nestled on the mountainside with unexpected fabulous views of Cadair Idris. A high standard of finish with good quality bed, linen and towels. The kitchen area is bijou with limited storage but adequate for two. Would have appreciated some basic provisions (tea, coffee, sugar and milk) upon arrival. The outside space is great for your dogs to run around although the occasional walker does have access. Excellent walks from your doorstep and abundant wildlife.
Directions need updating with What3words, can be tricky to find! We hope to return.
Bev
Deer Park Lodge is in a stunning location.
It is perfectly situated for easy, moderate or hard scenic walks from the door step.
For dog owners it is a delight, with a private enclosed garden, but be aware walkers do come through as there is a footpath running through the property, but this was never overly intrusive.
Waking up to stunning views every morning is without doubt something you could never tire of.
There is limited kitchen work top space and or cupboards to store or prepare food but there is a butchers block with a couple of shelves underneath (having some wicker baskets on the shelves, to put veg and other food stuff in would help to stop the dogs sniffing or rummaging around) there is a large table though, which can also be used.
This is without doubt a beautiful place to stay, it is tranquil, and enough off the beaten track to give a sense of leaving the hustle and bustle behind. The track from the road is manageable but caution is needed when driving down as falling trees, branches and tree roots need to be avoided, which I guess will require more caution at different times of the year.
There is a wood burning stove, but also under floor heating so staying cosy will not be an issue. There is also a stair gate provided to keep dogs downstairs.
Wildlife, there is plenty, and we were fortunate enough to see a buzzard skim across the car as we drove down the drive, a few curious bullocks, plenty of sheep and several deer.
We will definitely return.
Steve and Debbie
Absolutely beautiful picturesque Lodge with the most incredible views.
We stayed for a week but we were sorry to leave and could have stayed longer ,It is peaceful and tranquil with the most stunning views over the mountains and the ever changing skyline, with no traffic noise all that can be heard is birdsong.
Amazing walks right next to the lodge and the sheep and squirrels that visit are a lovely sight.
There is no TV at the lodge and only the radio for company which suited us perfectly! Just a perfect place!
Lindsay Morris
We had an amazing stay at Deer Park Lodge. The lodge itself is beautiful, clean and in the most perfect setting. There are some great walks close by and maps in the lodge to help you with these. The views are by far the best we have ever seen from a holiday let, perfect to wake up to and so lovely we didn’t want to leave.
Dioni staff were really helpful when I was trying to choose where to stay and quick to respond to queries.
We will most definitely be returning to this wonderful place.

Deer park lodge is a truly fairytale property
The lodge is snug and very cosy and has everything you need for a relaxing break
Stunning location and the most amazing views
Had the most wonderful 3 days away with my 2 dogs walking around this stunning part of north wales
Highly recommended I will definetely return.

What a fantastic place, and an absolute credit to the owner. We stayed for three nights, but really should have booked longer. The cottage is off the beaten track, amongst the hills and forests above Dolgellau, and very quiet. The views are magnificent.
We found the cottage to be of very high standard, and wanted for nothing. No television was a bonus for us, too!
Dioni were easy to book through, too, and kept us updated with directions etc.
We will be looking to book here again in the not too distant future……..but for longer!
Robert Cheetham
Wonderful lodge with character and modern comforts, magnificent location with stunning views. We got lucky with the weather also which added to the enjoyment of our stay. All round thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Dioni have been great to book through and provided all the details required.

What a wonderful retreat, we had a great relaxing weekend, perfect for the dogs to. Directions From Dolgellau perfect as Sat Nav was a bit random. Walked to the Precipice Walk from lodge and back, weather was a bit rotten, but as they say no such thing as bad weather just bad choice of clothes. The Lodge is done up to a very high standard and could easily stayed a week rather than a few days. Knowing the area fairly well we had decided on what walks to do and for a long weekend we found it easy to unwind straight away, we will hope to return at some point so I will keep an eye out for dates that suit. Who need a Television in such a beautiful setting and building. If you Need To Chill then no better place.
S and P
Lovely little cottage. Quite loud and a little echoey as there are no downstairs curtains- however this is personal preference. Donât forget your hairdryer – I could not find one. Quality was high for linen and towels. Isolated yet not that far from Dolgellau. We hope to return to this little gem.

An excellent, very comfortable, and warm cottage. We were there on a quite chilly but gorgeous week in January. Loved the location and views south over Cadair Idris. Great to wake up to the mountains looking out from the bedroom window and to take the dogs for their early morning walk in the adjacent Deer Park (generally sheep around, so they had to be on a lead at all times). The Lodge has been very tastefully renovated (it would have been good to see some ‘before and after’ photos) and the standard of paintwork was remarkable. We didn’t miss the TV, but were appreciative of the excellent WIFI for the long January evenings. The portable ‘dog stair gate’ was very helpful in keeping our dogs from visiting us upstairs at night. The only minor comment regarding changes would be as to whether the frying pan could be swapped for one slightly larger. The one currently in the Lodge is small ,even for just two people. We have been regular visitors to Hywel Sele Lodge at the other end of the Deer park (and will continue to stay there) but it is lovely to now have Deer Park Lodge as an alternative option. Highly recommended.
YVONNE FOWLER
This is a delightful, well appointed property. Tastefully furnished and beautifully restored, the two rooms are spacious and comfortable. The views from all the windows are, of course, breathtaking, as is the situation overlooking Cader Idris. I would add the following information for future guests. Firstly, if you are arriving from the Midlands, or from anywhere really, be sure to find Dolgellau library, as the turning for the road to the lodge is directly opposite. We came off the road from Welshpool to Dolgellau too soon and got lost. Secondly, the sign for Deer Park Lodge can’t be easily seen at night, and only with some difficulty during the day. It is very small. Perhaps an arrow pointing up the drive would be a good idea. Thirdly the four figure key safe code given to us was incorrect. The safe only takes three figures. The caretaker told us that information. Fourthly, a bath mat would be useful as the shower is powerful and can wet the bathroom floor. Fifthly, we had to buy ourselves a new frying pan as the one provided was much too small; because of Covid and Christmas, we brought all our food with us and did a lot of cooking. Lastly, a small freezer and a washing machine would be useful for guests who stay for longer periods. It didn’t matter so much for us because we were only there for 7 nights, but it would be more of an issue for longer holidays. It’s 47 minutes very pleasant walk into Dolgellau and slightly more back as it’s uphill! Highly recommended.
Chris and Anne
We had a really lovely few days at the Lodge which whilst being snug and cosy, is large enough for two people to spread out comfortably. The location is perfect, completely on its own on the edge of woodland, with stunning mountain views and great walks from the door but just a short drive to Dolgellau. We were lucky to have the full glory of trees in their autumn colours but every season will have something to offer. A special place to fully unwind and ‘get away from it all’.
(We would recommend buying firewood from Wynnstay on the Bala Road if you need any, good quality and reasonably priced!)
Pete and Dawn
What a lovely lodge, much bigger than we thought, cosy, well equipped, nicely decorated and furnished with stunning views from all windows but particularly from bedroom windows (3 of them). Comfy bed and excellent shower. Lots of walks from the door step, come stocked up with food and you donât need to use the car.
Our 2 dogs loved the garden, which is secure enough for our two medium collie, smaller dogs would need to be watched. Sheep wandering on adjacent land.
We were lucky enough to use outdoor seats and take in the sunset views as the mist came down whilst listening to the noise of rushing water from the stream/waterfall within the garden. A very enjoyable stay. Iâm sure we will be back. November 2021

What a truly wonderful find! This lodge really is remote and we loved the stunning views as well as the tastefully restored cottage itself. Nick, Luna (our trusty pooch) and I stayed four nights and will definitely visit again. May we suggest you make a stew to take with you, pop it in the oven when you arrive then take yourselves off for a walk over the stile and across the hills for an hour, then settle in for a cosy evening in front of the fire? We were lucky with the weather (late Oct) so packed up some butties and cake and took ourselves off on some of the many walks suggested (and thoughtfully printed off and laminated) by Vaughan and Jacqui. As detailed, there is no TV but the cottage is better for that – who needs a google box when you can enjoy a chill and good read in front of the fire, or take in the beautiful views. Or use your iPad! We curled up on the floor in front of the fire with Luna and watched a movie one evening. Book upâŚ. you wonât be disappointed!
