We stayed at Dinas Ddu for almost a week over Christmas and had a wonderful time. We arrived just before dark on a cold windy drizzly day and found the cottage warm and welcoming, with lots of festive decorations. The cottage is so pretty, quaint and cosy. Looking at it from afar, itâs like a postcard picture. It had everything needed to really enjoy our stay. Itâs in a peaceful location with lovely views from the garden which would be appealing in fairer weather conditions. It sits approx 5 mins drive outside of Beddgelert, which is an attractive village with a little shop and a lovely pub right on the river. It is walkable distance but there isnât a pavement the whole way. The Aberglaslyn gorge walk is only 2 mins drive away. A beautiful walk but stretches that were challenging, not for those with mobility challenges. From here you can end in Beddgelert. The whole region was possibly the most beautiful place Iâve visited in the UK and it would be a pleasure to visit again.

Dinas-Ddu is a beautiful old cottage. We found the bedrooms very cosy, warm and the beds very comfortable.
The kitchen is very well equipped and was fine for our purposes. If we had to be slightly critical, for a cottage that is aimed to accommodate 6, a 2 slice toaster means that if everyone wanted toast, it would take a while to fulfil that. Maybe a 4 or 6 slice toaster could resolve this âinconvenienceâ at little cost. Also, we have to agree with a previous comment that the fridge freezer is slightly awkward to access as the unit door opens to the left (and is restricted slightly by a radiator) and the appliance door opens to the right. Most fridge/freezer doors can easily be reversed to open whichever way one desires. Maybe this would possibly help the situation.
The bathrooms are OK and there was plenty of hot water at all times.
Sadly, some friends and family who were due to come and visit for a few days during our 3 weeks stay, had to cancel. We would say that the living room would be a tight squeeze for 6 â this feedback has been provided previously by guests.
The outside grounds are abundant, and the cottage is pleasantly located. We started seeing holes appear in the front garden area and to the r/h side grass area. We purchased a trail cam and captured both badgers and foxes on several occasions, so wildlife and nature lovers should love this cottage.
Again, weâd have to agree with previous comments made in relation to the cottage being âtiredâ and it could do with a fresh coat of paint. However, weâd definitely stay again at Dinas-Ddu and hope to be back next year. We only make this comment as the Dioni website video appears to have been taken quite a while ago. Other comments that weâd make to hopefully assist others are:
⢠Broadband speed is excellent
⢠Superb private location
⢠Beautiful and rustic dining table
⢠Dioniâs video must be a good few years old
⢠Log burner not cleaned out â there didnât appear to be any cleaning items e.g. metal bucket to negotiate this. Thus we didnât use
⢠BBQ in the store shed was filthy â we avoided!
⢠Wardrobe space is abundant, but more draw space would be beneficial
⢠We personally wouldnât describe the fridge/freezer as large as in the cottage spec
⢠We canât comment on TV facilities as we never watch TV on holiday!
Nick Webster
Great location just south of Beddgelert, and the self contained and large area around the cottage was ideal for the dogs.
Cottage is well appointed, especially the kitchen, and a minor plumbing issue was swiftly fixed.
We enjoyed our stay greatly.
Grahame Weaver
A wonderful old Welsh cottage for four, the lounge may be a tad small for six adults. Comfortable and warm with hot water at all times. Facilities are a bit tired notably the tumble dryer and tv. The bathrooms need an upgrade, but served us well for a week. Very clean.
We were left a very generous welcome pack.
The TV facilities are too basic.
Maybe some âmind your headâ signs above doorways would help.
The grounds are wonderful, even though our spaniel managed to get under one of the gates I would say dog friendly for most people. It was lovely and quiet and out of the way.
There is no safe path to Beddgelert (if there is it is not accessible) from the cottage as stated in your booking details. This was disappointing.
The water may pass through UV light but it is very acrid, even the dogs werenât fussed drinking it. We bought bottled water to drink.
Iâd say with a few tweaks this is a perfect getaway.
Thank you for a lovely holiday!

What a nice place to stay. The rooms are great and well sized. Beds were excellent! A mirror at the end of the driveway would make the exit a lot safer!
It was great to have a washer and dryer. The fridge situation was a bit weird. Not well accessable
The wifi was good. The sofa could have been a different material for more comfort. The bathrooms were below standard though. No water pressure and the lack of tiles on the floor and walls made it feel dirty. Otherwise all good.

We had a wonderful stay at Dinas Ddu. The house and the spacious grounds are truly beautiful and in a perfect location if you enjoy trekking. There is a big Tesco about 10min away in Porthmadog and a friendly little food shop in Beddgellert. We slept very well and loved the super king size bed in the master bedroom. We do a lot of cooking and we found the kitchen to be well equipped. Having the laundry space was so useful.
I have to agree with previous comments and say the sofa really isn’t super comfortable. The addition of a guest book and a mirror to come safely out of the drive would definitely be helpful.
We were blessed with superb weather and we look forward to come back one day to this stunning area.
Jen
We had a comfortable stay and loved the history of the farmhouse. Peaceful location, yet close to all amenities.

The cottage was a dream, everything was perfect very clean. So quiet and peaceful.
Thank you

We loved our stay at Dinas-DduâŚWhat a great location between the coast and the mountains! The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed for cooking meals, the utility room was a great bonus for a young family with dogs. The garden was a lot of fun for our children to explore and secure for our dogs – although some of the lambs had figured out how to get under the gate so we had to chase them out everyday! Highlight has got to be the view from the picnic bench!
Miles
Wow, what a place. The location is fantastic, the house was very well sized, in great condition with lovely views of the surrounding hills. Overall we had a fantastic time and would fully recommend.
The house it self is large, clean and well maintained There are two bathrooms, a kitchen, utility space, three decent bedrooms, a living room and a beautifully quirky dining space.
The gardens and surrounding grounds are lovey and include a picnic table with fantastic views. The house it self is wonderful and full of character. There is lots of parking and some storage space for bikes. Beddgelert is not to far (5 mins driving / 45 mins waking) and it a lovely village. Porthmadog is also around 15 mins away, and while not as scenic it has a large Tesco, Aldi and Lidl for stocking up on food.
We were looking for a lovely large, historic cottage in a quiet and beautiful location and we were not disappointed. The listing and photos reflected what we got. Fully Recommend…

Another great stay in this lovely cottage – our fourth time. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival with a nice welcome pack, well equipped and in a great location. Great internet access at long last now too very much a bonus!
My only comment would be that there needs to be some more robust cutlery!
Bruce Alexander
We had a lovely stay at the cottage for a week in October, the owner had identified an issue with a burst pipe prior to our arrival and advised us in advance, the problem was very swiftly rectified! đThe house itself is in a great location nestled in an elevated position above the Glaslyn river. The log burner and heating system kept the cottage very cosy indeed despite the inclement weather. The outdoor space was greatly appreciated by our border collie! We wouldnât hesitate to book againđ. As others have mentioned a mirror on the road would help exiting the track as itâs difficult to see traffic coming from the Porthmadog direction.

Had a great stay in this lovely house in a perfect location. So near to the mountains and the coast. Thank you and thank you for the super welcome pack.

The cottage was in a great location for Beddgelert and the beautiful Aberglaslyn walk. Well equipped kitchen and beds were all very comfortable. We had a fantastic holiday and the children loved Coed y brenin for cycling and found a great pump track at Talysarn. Enjoyed walking up the Watkin path and swimming in the beautiful waterfalls. Would have been useful to have a visitors book, to read other peoples recommendations for the local area. Remember to take board games etc with you, as there aren’t any provided.

Spent an amazing week at Dinas Ddu with family and friends in March 2023. The farmhouse cottage was perfect and well situated for our needs. All the rooms were comfortable and cozy and the kitchen was well stocked with everything one might need as a self catering cottage. One suggestion I might make was to the change the leather couches as the large one was a little uncomfortable and material covered couches would have been warmer to the touch.
Thanks. I would certainly come to stay there again
Robert Batchelor
Really enjoyed our stay in your accommodation. The facilities left nothing wanting and the location was absolutely ideal for many local attractions and for sight seeing. One criticism exit from driveway to main road poses a hazard. Perhaps a mirror would be helpful. Would be looking to book again next year.

We had a wonderful week staying at Nanmor. The weather was absolutely amazing – blue skies and sunshine all week – and we really appreciated having the large enclosed garden and outdoor eating area. The house was well equipped for our family of 6 to stay comfortably. We really appreciated the well equipped kitchen and the large utility area. The situation is great, being just 2 1/2 miles outside Beddgelert and on the road to Porthmadog. We were well placed for exploring Snowdonia and the Lleyn peninsula. Beautiful house. Beautiful country.

Nanmor is an absolutely beautiful cottage in a stunning location! I really didn’t want to leave & could have made it my ‘forever home’!! đ¤
The cottage is ideally placed for access to an array of fabulous days out; including mountain climbing, forest walking or relaxing beach days!
Many thanks for an amazing week âşď¸

We are blessed to have returned here seven months since our last holiday. Weâve even booked to return again next year.
We love it so much because it works perfectly for us. The large and enclosed grounds mean itâs safe for our dog to wander around. Sheâs blind so thatâs very important to us. Itâs in a great central location, not overlooked, and whilst on a main road it doesnât feel like it, but does provide good access to local attractions.
The cottage is beautiful and very cozy and the welcome hamper very thoughtful. It was very clean and well maintained.
We cannot wait to return again next year!
Mike
A very comfortable house to stay in for the week. Nice and warm, well equipped, plenty of space and a wonderful location with great views. We would definitely stay here again. Diolch yn fawr!

We loved our week at this property. The cottage is beautiful and very cozy and the welcome hamper was very thoughtful. The property is in a great location for access to the coast and mountains and weâve already booked to return next year.
Some things to keep in mind:
– there were a lot of house spiders and some were huge! They seemed to be chiefly in the lounge so it may be that it would benefit from a more frequent and thorough vacuum.
– take your own tea(bags) as there were none supplied.
– there are a few low height walkways/door frames. Iâm 5â7 and hit my head a few times. Itâs part of the charm of the building though so one of those things for us.

Beautiful! Beautiful! Beautiful!
The best cottage and the best location.
Brionny Brady
Lovely, quirky cottage with lots of characterful features. Plenty of enclosed outdoor space for our doggy to run around. Other guests should be aware though that you cannot walk directly from the cottage into Beddgelert as we were led to believe from the Dioni website – there is no footpath and the main A road outside is very busy with no pavement. This did not spoil the holiday and we had a lovely time in this fabulous and beautiful area. Thank you!
Matthew Lyas
We had a fabulous couple of weeks in this lovely quiet cottage. Wonderful views and so peaceful. Not too far from The mountains or the coast. Would not hesitate to book again.
Barbara Sadek
The cottage was very welcoming and cosy, very warm even on damp days ! The shower worked fine providing no one else used any other water at the same time!Lovely situation and a great area for visiting with a range of things to do from walking to beaches and even the Zip wire. Wild water swimming in the river pools was a bonus.Would definitely book again provided the spiders were swept away a bit more rigorously

Lovely cosy cottage, great views and ideally placed for both mountains and beaches. Large enclosed garden which is very pet friendly although smaller dogs might find the odd escape route. There is wifi but understandably limited. The upstairs shower is either hot, or cold, with nothing in between. We really enjoyed our stay and 1 glorious week was not a long enough holiday.

The cottage was amazing, our 2nd trip. The heating was awkward but our fault. The owner arrived in the pouring rain & sorted it in minutes & gave us a bit of history on the place. It was one of the best holiday cottages we have had and we have had so far to date 54.
It had a magical feel whatever the weather. However, Dioni is one of the very best holiday cottage companies I’ve found & therefore I’m not surprised it was perfect.

Nanmor was a quirky farmhouse set up on a hill with stunning views. Upon arrival we welcomed the hamper (wine, Welsh cakes and flowers) and were pleasantly surprised to find plenty of amenities. Plenty to do near and far. Our best trip was on the Welsh highland railway from Porthmadog to Caernarfon which our puppy also enjoyed. Zipworld and Forest Coaster were also enjoyed by us all. Lovely holiday had by us all.

We had a wonderful stay here at nanmor near beddgelert, lovely old building very thick walls also has lovely views of steam train going past…not too far to drive to mountains.Took a chance on this as couldn’t find many new reviews but didn’t regret it…be warned cleaners were waiting down bottom of drive about 9.30 for us to be out at 10.00

A lovely peaceful and well equipped cottage, plenty big enough for the two of us. The bed was really comfortable, giving excellent nightsâ of sleep. You will need the slow-ish WiFi to check waste collection arrangements as the information pack is a bit basic but the welcome gifts on arrival were a lovely touch. Would definitely book again.

Our first time at the cottage, we found just what we needed for our holiday – peace and quiet. We loved the cottage tucked away as it was, everything we needed and a welcome pack on our arrival, a real home from home.

Absolutely stunning cottage in a perfect location. Everything we required was to hand and the cottage is incredibly comfortable and quaint. Lovely touch with the welcome hamper and the outside space was secure enough for our two labradors to roam. Wifi was great for our two teenage daughters (15 & 17) We were very sad to leave and will definitely return.

We have just returned from a fantastic stay here. This was quite possibly the best rental we have had in the UK. The location was perfect for visiting everywhere yet was still remote and peaceful. We didnât travel for more than 50 min and we went up to Caernarfon and even out as far as Nefyn which was beautiful. Booking tickets for the Ffestiniog railway and the Zip world activities was a breeze due to having Wi-fi at the house. We took some kitchen equipment with us after reading all the reviews but did not use anything as there was plenty to cope with holiday cooking. There are some good knives and some not so good. All the rooms were lovely with good storage too. The house was full of character and charm. It was a shame to leave and we were all sad to go home.

We enjoyed our visit to the cottage, the children (7 & 4 ) loved roaming around the garden and riding their bikes down the drive, safe and secure. The cottage met our needs very well, would benefit from a few more dishes for cooking in the oven, and serving. The owner came up promptly to change the padlock on the outside store that wouldnât open which was much appreciated as we had climbing gear, bikes and the usual beach stuff. The only down side was the midges which were a real pain, never experienced them as bad and have been staying in and around the area for many years. If others staying at this time I suggest a good insect repellent spray and cream.

Beautiful cottage nicely situated for exploring Snowdonia near main road, but far enough set back not to be obtrusive. Nice touches like bottles of wine and milk, bunch of flowers. Owner promptly responsive when contacted, felt looked after without being intruded upon. Very basic kitchen equipment, lacked things like scales and cheese grater, knives not the best to use, we brought our own.Lovely comfortable cosy cottage, I would definitely book it again to use as a base.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful location. As mentioned by previous guests it would be helpful to have information about recycling etc – the bins at the end of the drive were both full when we arrived so nowhere to put our rubbish bags. More crockery, cutlery & sharp knives would be helpful, not really enough for 6 people.
We did, though, love the cottage and sitting out in the evening watching the wildlife and birds was a real treat.

We had a wonder stay in this peaceful cottage. Location was perfect and we found it so convenient for accessing all areas.
The cottage is very well equipped and beds very comfortable although the lounge may be a little small if 6 adults were staying. Plenty of information leaflets in the cottage and the Tourist Information centre in Beddgelert is very helpful.
This is the perfect cottage for anyone wanting to explore Snowdonia

Lovely stay in a beautiful location. Cottage was everything we wanted for the family and dogs. As mentioned before we also struggled with walking into beddgelert with the kids and dogs as there are no pavements and narrow roads, it did add to our fun trying to get the dogs over walls. More information is needed for townies and more info on recycling etc. All in all a wonderful stay.

We had a great 2 weeks at the cottage, we loved the location and the overall feel of the place, the decor and the size of the rooms was excellent.
The kitchen needs more equipment for 6 people and a set of sharp knives is essential. The cooker wasn’t great, two knobs fell off when we used the oven!
It is perfect for dogs, so relaxing and safe, couldn’t be better with all the land around the property.
We climbed Snowdon, attempted Moel Hebog a few times but never found the way to the top, loved the river and the walk into Beddgelert.
We would stay again, it was beautiful despite the midges and ticks!

Beautiful, well furnished cottage in an idyllic rural setting. Ideal location for visiting Snowdonia and the surrounding area. Although there was an information pack, an extra to add would be where the cottage had fishing rights, as stated on the website, as we came with rods etc & where locally licences could have be purchased & costings.

May 9, 2016
Excellent cottage in a very good location and the weather was kind enough to let us enjoy the outside space and seating. Very handy for all the southern routes on Snowdon, walks from Beddgelert and for local tracks from the cottage toward Moel Hebog. The Sygun Copper mine is worth a visit. Saracens Head and Hebog in Beddgelert were good for eating out.
We also would have liked more crockery and serving dishes and a full information pack would have been helpful. The directions were clear but it would be better if the website and directions gave “Dinas Ddu” rather than “Nanmor” as the cottage name as this appears on the gate and the OS map.
Nevertheless, well worth a stay and we will return if we can. Thanks.

Lovely cottage, great location, fantastic views. Comfortable cottage with nice outside space. Good position for both mountains and coast, Beddgelert a nice village with good pub, Saracens Head. Stayed for short break and enjoyed good weather. Communication with Dioni & owner good, as were directions etc. Only small negative, would benefit for more kitchen equipment especially if catering for six, larger pans, casserole dishes, serving bowls. Minor point as all other things provided inc soap, toilet rolls, foil, torches….. Would recommend.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings and ideal location. Very well equipped, and a thoughtful welcome pack including flowers. I agree with other comments that an information pack would be very useful to help settle in quickly. Especially with practical details of how to work tv, heating, drier (ie. empty filter and water), supermarket locations, etc. Also, for dog owners, the fact that the property owns the adjacent fields which are fenced in and can be used for exercising dogs. And finally would be good if Dioni warned in advance that drinking water needs boiling so that could have come armed with bottled water (arrived gasping for water). Having said all that Dioni came up with yet another great property.

We had a wonderful holiday this year in this lovely cottage. It is a very comfortable place to stay with everything you need. Visited old childhood haunts of Criccieth, Harlech and Betws-y-coed. Ventured as far as Llandudno when the weather was wet but we were lucky to have three sunny days and mostly sunny afternoons. I had forgotten how beautiful the scenery is in north Wales. Diolch yn fawr and hopefully see you next year!

We have enjoyed our stay in this beautiful cottage. Perfectly located between beaches and mountains. A few small additions like some more dishes, cups, glasses and towels (we stayed with 6) would make it an even better place to stay. We would love to come again next year.

Hi Julia
Thanks for your comment (and email). As suggested we’ll leave a note in the cottage pointing out that guests are more than welcome to use the miles of footpaths and bridleways that lead from the rear of the cottage. Sorry that this wasn’t more obvious during your stay.

A great cottage for a family in a quiet spot. Lovely location in between Porthmadog and Beddgelert. Great places to eat out in Beddgelert whilst away from hustle and bustle. Only difficulty was not being able to walk the dogs directly from the cottage.

Hi Steve and Jackie – we are delighted that you enjoyed your holiday at Nanmor. On the Dioni website, there are information packs for each of the local areas that cover the information you were looking for: https://dioni.co.uk/snowdonia-information-packs/. I hope this will be of help should you be staying in an Dioni holiday cottage in the future. Many thanks, Emma.

Enjoyed our stay . Great area for walking and hill climbing . Tremendous scenery . As another guest stated the cottage could do with an info pack not just places to visit but useful numbers . ie Doctors , hospitals , dentist and owners details as well as restaurants and other eateries . Overall a really nice cottage

A lovely traditional cottage in spacious grounds and ideally placed to tackle Snowden and beyond.
Seemingly just refirbished (June 2015) the decor is nicely done. Just a few small additions (like an information pack!) will make it a great place to stay.
