Eithin-Y-Rhiw is the kind of place that makes you consider ditching the city and buying a flock of sheep. One of five stone barn conversions nestled into a quiet West Wales valley, this two-bedroom gem is a short hop from the coast, but miles away from the rush.

Inside, it’s all rustic charm meets creature comforts. The open-plan living area is framed by high vaulted ceilings and chunky timber beams, with a crackling real fire to warm your toes (and your soul). Sink into one of the leather armchairs and queue up something binge-worthy on the Smart TV, or just watch the flames do their thing.

The kitchen is light, modern and compact-but-mighty. White metro tiles, sleek cabinetry and all the essentials mean you're well-equipped for anything from slow breakfasts to post-beach pasta feasts.

There are two bedrooms: one cosy double with a memory-foam topped mattress, exposed stone wall, and soft lighting courtesy of touch lamps; and a simple but sweet single room, perfect for a child, solo traveller or an off-duty adult who’s drawn the short straw.

The bathroom is smarter than most city flats, with Laura Ashley tiles, a rainwater shower over a full-sized bath, a heated towel rail, and a Bluetooth-enabled mirror cabinet, ideal for bathroom karaoke.

Outside, the private patio is perfect for soaking up the sun or sipping something local. There's also access to a shared laundry room, and a children’s play area on-site. And yes, it’s pet friendly, dogs are welcome to sniff every hedge between here and the beach.

Whether you’re lighting a fire after a long day hiking, or lounging with a wine and wondering if you could stay forever, Eithin-Y-Rhiw nails the countryside-coast combo beautifully.

Location

Eithin-Y-Rhiw is tucked into a peaceful wooded valley just under a mile from the nearest pub and a few minutes’ drive from the Ceredigion coast. Outside, the cottage has its own sheltered private patio with outdoor dining, and guests are free to explore the shared gardens, woodland walks and children’s play area on-site. Aberporth and Tresaith’s beaches are nearby, as is the Ceredigion Coast Path, ideal for both serious hikers and casual strollers.

You’re also well placed for day trips to pretty seaside towns like New Quay and heritage spots like Mwnt, with its postcard-perfect clifftop chapel and dolphin-watching possibilities.
