Self Catering Accommodation on a Working Farm | Faeldre

We just returned from 1 week at the cottage, and with exceptional weather we had a lovely time. The location is close to all main attractions including wonderful beaches in Harlech and Barmouth, the steam train at Porthmadog and the village at Portmeirion. Would recommend the cottage for quietness and value for money.

We had the most amazing time at Faeldre. The house was great and the views were stunning. It had everything you would need as well as some welcome treats, which were much appreciated. The location was great as it was quiet but not too far from amenities and places to visit. My children absolutely loved playing with the farm cat and visiting the animals every day. We would definitely come back here again.

Very comfortable stay. Rooms lovely. Bathrooms great. Beautiful view from the large front windows, enjoyed watching the sunset. Great location, lovely pubs and restaurants within 5 minutes drive. Ideal to explore the area.

Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we had such a great holiday. The house was absolutely gorgeous, clean, spacious and just perfect for relaxed evenings when our little one was asleep. We loved the farm and our 8 year old really enjoyed the freedom to run around outside and play with the cute kitten! Such a perfect position to explore North Wales also, we did so much whilst there. Our son usually is excited to get home from holiday but he was sad to leave and has already said that he wants to go back to Wales and to the farm, despite the weather that we had whilst there 🤣 Lovely and quiet to sleep, great hosts. We had a great and very relaxing stay at Faeldre. We appreciated the beautiful renovation, the warmth and quiet of the house, and the lovely views. It would be nice if there were more walks from the house (you can’t get down to the sea, and the public footpaths on the opposite side of the main road are inaccessible, with gates you can’t open), but this is obviously outside of the owner’s control. In any case, Faeldre makes a great base for exploring the coast and the Rhinogydd. Thank you for a lovely stay!

We enjoyed a wonderful break at Faeldre. The cottage was perfect for us. Donna has left us some lovely Welsh cakes and eggs and yogurt to help us in our way. The weather was glorious and we sat outside each evening soaking it in. There were occasional issues with the signal affecting our Wi-Fi but that is par for the course in this area and it quickly resolved itself. I was able to stream the US Open Golf, and Ashes cricket easily enough on my devices.
We had sheep shearing going on near to us and the farm was in constant activity next to us.
Nearby Barmouth, Harlech, Portmeirion and Porthmadog provided daytime entertainment.

Beautiful cottage with amazing views, a very good base for lots of things to do in North Wales. We particularly enjoyed hiring bikes in Barmouth and cycling the Mawdach trail. We were blessed with the weather and will most definitely be back, thank you to the owners for a wonderful stay

We had a lovely stay at Faeldre. My daughter enjoyed watching the animals and getting up close with the Lambs and Chickens. Donna was very welcoming, friendly and extremely helpful. Great kitchen facilities and use of washing machine in the utility room was useful. The views from every window are spectacular. The location is perfect for exploring both Harlech and Barmouth.

Had a lovely stay at the cottage with my wife and three children. Really well equipped cottage and super clean and tidy. Couldn`t recommend this place enough. Stunning cottage in a lovely location. Donna was very welcoming and helpful with lots of information about the area. Faeldre is such a cosy and comfortable cottage presented to the highest standard, we had everything we needed for our stay. The kids loved watching the work going on around the farm.

A lovely quiet place to stay, we took my parents and Aunt for the weekend. The cottage was beautifully decorated very clean and had everything we needed, with a lovely view across the fields to the sea. Lovely food in the Victoria Inn just up the road, Barmouth is close by which has a lovely beach and seafront. Hope to return again.

Faeldre is highly recommended. One of the best holiday homes we have stayed in! It\’s been converted to a high standard, is spacious enough for 5, extremely clean and well equipped. Set on a working farm (sheep & non-milking cows) in a beautiful rural location with fantastic views from the patio of the sun setting over the Llyn Peninsula. The property is close to both Barmouth and Harlech and an easy drive to great places for eating out including Ysgethin Inn, Talybont and the cafe balcony at Harlech castle (delicious cakes). Donna and the Thomas family are lovely, very welcoming and just next door if needed. Faeldre benefits from 2 large bathrooms, comfortable lounge and bedrooms, great kitchen, picture windows and the added bonus of a field where children can play safely. Smaller separate 2 person property Gegin-Faeldre is just behind – perfect.

This was our second stay at Faeldre. It is a beautiful cottage in a great location with stunning views and hospitable owners on hand to help if needed. The beaches in this area are hard to beat, it’s great walking territory and there are plenty of places to visit within easy driving distance, Portmeirion being a favourite of ours. Can highly recommend Faeldre for a relaxing break.

My wife and I had a lovely week’s stay at Faeldre. The accommodation had been beautifully converted and there was everything a family could need, including two shower rooms! The kitchen had been modernised to a high standard and the owners were very welcoming. It’s location is quite superb with views over farmland to the sea. Also views towards the Llyn Peninsula. In the evening there are stunning sunset views as the sun sinks behind the Llyn. Although this is a working farm it is a quiet location, away from the hustle and bustle of town/ city life. It is a great location to explore the broader western and north western coastline of Wales or visit Snowdonia if you do not mind crowds!! Highly recommended.

Faeldre exceeded our expectations! Beautifully clean and very well presented. Good quality kitchen and bathrooms – all in all 1st class accommodation in a beautiful rural unspoilt location.

We had a wonderful stay at Faeldre. It was immaculately clean, well equipped and very well positioned between the amazing beach at Harlech and Barmouth town centre and beach. We especially enjoyed the glorious views from the cottage and being in a quiet and peaceful location with easy access to beautiful walks, lovely beaches and a good number of tourist attractions. If you are considering staying here, we would recommend the cottage without hesitation. Indeed, we expect to return!

The location is also superb, allowing you to explore the stunning coastline with ease.

Just returned from a fabulous week spent in this beautiful location. The house is absolutely stunning and has everything you could need. Welcome pack on arrival (fresh eggs, welsh butter, cheese and welsh cakes) is a lovely touch and the owners are so welcoming and friendly. Despite the weather being a bit hit and miss we made the most of the area visiting Barmouth, beautiful beaches, the castles in Harlech and Criccieth and the stunning Nantcol Waterfalls. Each day we looked forward to returning to the house and as it felt so relaxing and homely. The ultimate recommendation I could give would be that the husband (who doesn’t really do holidays) had such a great time and enjoyed the location so much that even he didn’t want to come home. An absolute gem and we can’t wait to return. Thank you

This cottage is the holiday- it’s original features are a delight, the decor is modern and clean and fresh. Each day we looked forward to coming back to a glass of wine on the patio looking out across the farm to the sea. Our children had so much fun playing on the farm. As everyone says the Thomas family are lovely and the welcome pack includes Welsh cheese, butter, Welsh cakes and farm eggs. There is a shared utility room outside of the cottage with washing machine, freezer and iron. We traveled to Llanberis for Snowdon about an hour away but this area is full of great beaches, walks and cycling. We missed out on Coed y Brenin for outdoor activities but did bounce below at zip world. Recommend Corris Craft Centre for kids things to do on a rainy day especially chocolate making but must book all activities in advance. Recommend hiring bikes in Barmouth for easy flat ride over bridge to Fairbourne or walk. Betws-Y-Coed worth a visit. Great holiday, thank you

We enjoyed a lovely week in the cottage. It was very clean and it is equipped to a high standard. The proximity to the mountains and the many beaches in the area make the cottage an ideal location. Our hosts were very friendly and we loved the regular visits from the sheep dog puppies. We plan to return.

We stayed at Faeldre for 2 weeks during June 2019. What a perfect place to switch off and relax! Beautiful views, with amazing sunsets over the Lleyn Peninsula! Brilliant location for exploring Snowdonia, mountains, rivers and beaches.
The owners are so friendly and helpful. We had a couple of issues which were very promptly and efficiently sorted out. The cottage is beautifully renovated with all mod cons (showers & kitchen excellent) and some quirky features, like an upstairs stair case to nowhere but a window with a view! I would prefer the freezer to be in the house, rather than in a separate room around the corner, but that’s a minor point really. The sofa suite is possibly a bit soft, but some don’t mind that.

Lovely stay – great cottage, comfortable, warm and two power showers after a hard days walking. A beautiful quiet location with Harlech and Barmouth a short drive away and some great beaches to enjoy what ever the weather. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just returned from a 4 night stay at Faeldre, where we went as a family of 5 (2 adults, 3 kids aged 13, 8 & 21 months). Property is beautiful, clean and modern but retains some traditional features to give character and charm. Has all the basics you would need during your stay. We found the beds to be really comfortable and had a great sleep every night! The location is great for exploring North Wales and the views are stunning. It is one of the best self catering cottages we have stayed in, and wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be returning to Faeldre on our next visit to North Wales.
Also, a big thanks to Donna, who found my son’s soft toy after we had left, and contacted me to tell me, and then sent it back to us in the post the same day! Diolch x

Our second stay at Faeldre. The cottage is still wonderfully clean, well-equipped and comfortable as well as being extremely well-located for visiting Snowdonia, the Llyn Peninsula and the north coast. Watching the sun set over the dunes from the cottage windows (or the garden if it’s a bit warmer!) can’t be beaten.

Just had a really lovely week in what I can only describe as a fabulous house. Set right on the farm, it has views down to the sea one way and the hills and mountains left, behind and right. It really is situated in an ideal place to explore the North West of Wales. And a walk along the fantastic local beaches is a great way to start or end the day. The owners were very welcoming and could not have been more helpful. I would have no hesitation in recommending Faeldre if you were thinking of booking somewhere in this part of Wales. I will certainly be back for another stay. Thanks!

Lovely location and cottage is well equipped. Chickens seem to like the windowsill and kids found this hilarious! Super views and easy to get to (by car) local villages, pubs etc.. couple of things – ladies take a shower cap and there is no full length mirror. Also main bedroom mattress was not comfy at all, perhaps that’s just our taste. Overall a lovely stay in a quiet and peaceful location

We have just enjoyed a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage. The views are superb you can see for miles and the sunsets magnificent. The beaches are so near and plenty places near hand to visit. Our little grandson just loved iwatching the tractors and playing in the garden. We were able to bbq in the garden as the evenings were so nice. Hoe to come back again . xx

Thank you for a lovely Easter stay in your cottage, location was perfect for exploring North Wales, our children particularly enjoyed staying on a working farm with the new born lambs. The cottage was great the only complaint was tv reception was terrible, WiFi intermittent and the main bed was very soft , if they could be improved it would be a 5 Star place x

Just had a wonderful week staying at Faeldre. Beautiful cottage with stunning views. Spotlessly clean with a very well equipped kitchen. Our grandson, who is almost 4, loved the animals especially the 2 chickens who came to the kitchen window every morning. Lots of attractions for all ages within a short drive. Would highly recommend Faeldre.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Faeldre. The accommodation is lovely. Character with all the modern amenities. Very impressed with the well equipped kitchen (usually not the case in a holiday let!). Bathrooms were both finished to a very high standard. Fantastic views across the farm to the sea beyond and easy access to Snowdonia and the wider area. Fantastic part of Wales – highly recommended.

We’ve just had a great week at Faeldre with our two young children. They loved being on a working farm and looking out the window each morning to see what was going on and we loved the amazing house – so comfortable, clean and thoughtfully furnished. We have just enjoyed a fantastic half term break at this lovely, comfortable cottage. It’s location enables you to enjoy seaside, mountains and rolling countryside. Lots of activities for children in the area especially the fantastic ‘Bounce Below’ in Blaenau Ffestiniog. Beautiful walks in Snowdonia and along the coast. Looking forward to returning and exploring more and we would definitely choose Faeldre again.

We spent a week at Faeldre Farm in July and it was just fantastic! The area is absolutely gorgeous with lots of things to do and Faeldre was just perfect for the five of us. A lovely home away from home which we can definitely recommend!

Just returned from a wonderful weeks stay at Faeldre and really loved every minute. Cottage was well presented with everything we could have needed. Thank you for the Welsh treats on arrival too. Perfect location for our little boy who loved seeing the sheep, watching the shearing and talking to the friendly hens every morning. We used the cottage to explore mainly the area to the north and can highly recommend Abersoch, Portmeirion, Criccieth (especially Dylan’s restaurant), the Ffestioniog Railway, as well as the beautiful local beaches. Our visit to Llangollen standard gauge railway was also worth the longer trip. Still so much we could have done if only we could have stayed longer so sure we will return in the future.

Faeldre is a lovely spacious cottage in a great location. The stillness and wonderful views were just what we needed to escape the rush of the rat race. The property also wins best view from a wardrobe ( check out the sunset from the master bedroom wardrobe). We used the property as a springboard into the hills for walking and also down to the wonderful beach at Llandanwg.

We loved the cottage it had everything we needed, the owners next door were friendly & helpful. The views from the cottage were amazing & it made a good base for us to go exploring around that part of Wales! We would definitely return there!

We have just returned from a short break at Faeldre – what an absolutely fabulous cottage! Everything was very clean and well kept, comfortable and cosy. It was most interesting to stay on a working farm. We already knew the area and can recommend the Welsh Highland and Ffestioniog Railways, as well as the beautiful local beaches, Harlech and Caernarvon castles and the area’s slate mines and heritage. We have just returned from 4 days at the beautiful Faeldre. This cottage is tastefully decorated, warm and cozy at this chilly time of year. We were made to feel very welcome and the location was perfect. Our stay was all too short but we would love to return – soon!

Just returned from xmas break in Faeldre with the family. Absolutely perfect. The cottage is so modern yet it has retained many of its wonderful original features. It was spotless when we arrived and had all the features you would expect. The setting on the farm was beautiful and peaceful and the kids loved watching the cows and sheep. The owners were always available to help. We would definately return again!

A wonderful place to stay; a beautiful building that has been tastefully refurbed inside. Situated on the coast we woke up to beautiful views out across farmland and the sea, but within striking distance of Snowdonia. A very warm welcome from the owners as well! At the end of our holiday none of us wanted to leave as it felt like such a wonderful place to stay.

We just finished our two weeks holiday in Faeldre, I agree to all the comments before: A tastefully modernised house very well equipped on a high standard in a quiet environment made it easy to enjoy the stay and love coming back in the evening. The owners are extremely friendly and sympatric and welcomed us with an arrangement of eggs, butter and sweet.
Faeldre is perfectly situated near to the dunes and a stunning beach. For walkers a path starts just on the other site of the road, many great walks in Snowdonia are easy to reach.
Unfortunately the holidays ended much too fast, we`d love to come back soon!

We spent two weeks at Faeldre and really enjoyed our stay. We were exploring the mountains in gliders from the local airfield. The house was beautiful and in a stunning location. Access was easy, our hosts were very helpful and friendly. We even had nice weather. We hope to return to Faeldre and further explore the Llanbedr area. We have no adverse comments.

Just returned from a lovely week in the very comfortable, clean and cosy Faeldre Cottage. Brilliantly placed for touring the North West corner of beautiful Wales. Loved the views,sunsets and waking up to the sounds of a working farm. Would not hesitate to recommend it.

We’ve just had a great week at Faeldre despite the rather inclement weather! The cottage is extremely comfortable with all mod cons – great to have 2 bathrooms with 5 adults staying. We loved sitting on the patio with amazing views when the weather allowed. Highlight of the week was a trip up Snowdon by train, although we walked the 5 miles down. Tip – you need to book the train in advance online. Harlech is great too, with a castle & an amazing 4 mile sandy beach. Thanks to the friendly owners for a very enjoyable stay.

We spent a lovely relaxing week at Faeldre Farm. The scenery was amazing and the Farmhouse was modern, clean and spacious. Our daughter helped to feed the lambs and didn’t want to come home. The owners were friendly and there was a warm welcome including milk, welsh cheese and home made Easter biscuits. A great location to explore this part of Wales. We recommend the Titan Zipwire, Harlech Castle, Portmeirion and the very tasty award winning fish and chips from the Mermaid Fish & Chip Shop in Barmouth (near the railway station). The beaches were beautiful and the sunsets were stunning. Hope to visit again!

What a great cottage, absolutely spotless, could not fault it. Children loved visiting the lambing shed on the farm. Great walks nearby and lovely beaches. A great cottage to retreat to from the Welsh weather!

Faeldre is perfectly situated to allow enjoyment of nearby, beautiful beaches and easy access to the mountains. Well appointed with tasteful decor, this cottage is very comfortable for a family holiday and whilst on a working farm, very quiet.
