If you’re looking for a truly unique escape, Felinddwr offers the perfect blend of history, charm, and contemporary luxury. This beautifully restored 17th-century watermill, part of the Y Felin Rhyd Hir complex, has a rich past, with origins possibly dating back to the 13th century. The site was once home to one of the earliest known watermills on the Llyn Peninsula, and today, its beautifully preserved waterwheel and original mill machinery remain visible throughout the property.

Stepping inside, you’ll find a traditional kitchen filled with rustic character. Exposed beams and original stone floors create a warm, inviting atmosphere, while modern conveniences like a Nespresso coffee machine, dishwasher, and microwave ensure effortless self-catering. The wooden dining table, with seating for six, makes for the perfect setting to enjoy a relaxed breakfast or a hearty meal after a day of exploring. To the left of the dining area, a handy downstairs W/C provides extra convenience.

To the right of the kitchen, the cosy living room is an ideal space to unwind. A log-burning stove takes centre stage, framed by exposed beams and soft, inviting furnishings, including a double sofa and four occasional chairs. A Smart TV is ready for quiet evenings in, but the real magic lies in the observation areas, where glass panels allow guests to peek into the inner workings of the old mill. These beautifully restored features bring the history of Felinddwr to life, offering a rare glimpse into the mechanics of a centuries-old watermill.

Upstairs, the first floor continues to impress, offering a mix of comfortable bedrooms and unique historical features. The master bedroom is bright and spacious, featuring a double bed, a Smart TV, and ample storage with a wardrobe and chest of drawers. The second bedroom is a charming twin, offering two full-sized single beds and open hanging space, while the third bedroom provides another cosy double. A newly renovated family bathroom brings modern luxury to the space, with a walk-in shower, heated towel rail, and stylish monochrome tiling that subtly nods to the building’s heritage. At the heart of the first floor, a quiet reading nook with two occasional chairs invites guests to relax with a book.

Another highlight of the first floor is the observation area, where guests can admire the beautifully preserved mill machinery through a full glass door. Though this section remains locked during stays, it provides a fascinating insight into the history of the property, showcasing the original workings of the mill.

Stepping outside, guests can enjoy an array of outdoor spaces designed for relaxation. Double doors lead from the upstairs hallway to a private terrace, the perfect spot to enjoy morning coffee or a sundowner as the evening draws in. A few steps down, a wood-fired hot tub awaits, offering an idyllic place to soak and unwind while surrounded by nature. Below, a spacious patio area provides everything needed for alfresco dining, with a large wooden table and seating for six. A sun trap corner with loungers offers the ideal place to bask in the warmth on sunny afternoons.

Beyond the cottage itself, Felinddwr is perfectly positioned for exploring the best of North Wales. The property sits in the picturesque village of Efailnewydd, just 1.2 miles from Pwllheli, a bustling maritime town with a large marina, independent shops, and a lively sailing community. Nearby Abersoch, just over seven miles away, is a classic coastal retreat, known for its golden beaches, watersports, and relaxed holiday vibe. The rugged coastline of the Llyn Peninsula offers miles of stunning coastal walks, hidden coves, and sandy beaches waiting to be discovered. For those looking for a mountain adventure, Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park is just a short drive away, providing breathtaking landscapes, scenic hiking trails, and outdoor activities.

Felinddwr is more than just a holiday cottage—it’s a living piece of history, carefully restored to offer a one-of-a-kind stay. With its original watermill features, cosy interiors, and luxurious outdoor spaces, it promises a truly unforgettable experience. Whether you’re soaking in the hot tub, admiring the old mill machinery, or exploring the breathtaking landscapes of North Wales, this is a getaway like no other.
