Gilfach-Y-Nant is a three bedroom holiday cottage in Beddgelert near Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon). On the banks of the river Glaslyn, the cottage offers the perfect location for guests wanting to explore this popular picture postcard village and the surrounding mountains.

The cottage itself is the end property on a small row of terraced houses just on the edge of the village with off road parking for 2 cars. Although a fairly recent build, the cottage is constructed with traditional stonewalls under a slate roof, synonymous with this part of Eryri (Snowdonia).

A spacious well-equipped kitchen to the rear of the house overlooks a tranquil enclosed back garden which runs right down to the banks of the river. Inside, sleek white units house a fridge, freezer and dishwasher as well as a modern fan oven with electric hob. A circular dining table sits under a wall mounted digital tv at the far end of the room.

From here we can pass through into the lounge via a small dining area. A second circular dining table in this space is suitable for more formal dining perhaps. The adjoining lounge comes complete with a wonderful log burner, perfect for warming your toes after a long walk in the mountains. Facing the fire, two comfortable leather sofas and matching armchair sit on a sumptuous cream carpet.

The stairway leads us up to the first floor landing. Three bedrooms in total, one twin room and two double rooms. Both the small double and twin room look out onto the river at the rear of the cottage. The larger master bedroom is to the front of the house as is the bathroom. The bathroom houses a shower over bath arrangement as well as wc and washbasin. Plenty of wardrobe space in each of the bedrooms and high quality beds and linen as you expect.

Location

Beddgelert is a bustling little village hidden away among the tall peaks of Eryri. Popular with locals and tourists alike it boasts a lovely selection of pubs, restaurants and tearooms as well as the magnificent Glaslyn Ice-cream Parlour. (Seriously, don't leave without trying the Ice-cream!)

There are lots of walks straight from the village. Yr Wyddfa itself could be attempted from the door of the cottage but less experienced walkers might prefer to drive the 3 miles up to Pen Y Pass to give themselves a head start. A less strenuous but equally picturesque route to consider is the 'Lon Gwyrfai' path which leads up to Rhyd Ddu on Yr Wyddfa's eastern slopes. This newly opened path can be combined with the Welsh Highland Steam railway to give you a circular route back down to Beddgelert.

Beics Beddgelert will happily rent you some mountain bikes if you want to explore the miles of green cycle way and bridle paths that criss-cross this area. No, there isn't anywhere flat to cycle. And the mountain biking centres at Antur Stiniog and Coed Y Brenin will exhaust even the most enthusiastic and experienced cyclist.

Watersports is also a big draw for a lot of our guests. Kayaking down the fast flowing Afon Glaslyn will take you right past the Gilfach Y Nant whilst the lakes of Llyn Dinas and Llyn Gwynant nearby are a haven of peace and tranquility even during the busy summer months.

My husband and I enjoyed a four night break in this beautiful cottage. It was immaculately clean and had everything you could possibly need. We appreciated the lovely welcome gifts, a lovely touch. Location of cottage is perfect for walks and having a pub or two locally was an added bonus for the occasional visit !
Lovely holiday and would recommend this cottage to anyone

Really enjoyed our 5 night stay at this cottage. Cottage was immaculate on arrival with a lovely welcome basket including milk in the fridge. Cottage is in a beautiful location with plenty of walks from your doorstep. We didnā€™t use the car once. Views are stunning.

Lovely cottage and in the perfect spot. Spacious and comfortable. I’m missing the sound of the river and the views of the mountains from the garden.

Our second year at this lovely place and doubt it’s the last. The house is lovely, well equipped and feels like home from home. Morning are spent having coffee riverside at the end of the garden and watching the buzzards overhead before heading off to explore the area. But honestly, Beddgelert is a beautiful village so happy days pottering around there. Lovely welcome basket too. Miss the place already!

Another fantastic holiday in North Wales. This will be our 6th stay at this cottage, its perfectly situated for the areas we love to visit, we love the fact that from the doorstep Beddgelert has many fantastic walks for every ability. The cottage as always is clean and equipped well with everything you would expect for a self catering holiday, there are a few places to eat in the village and an abundance within the local area. And of course it wouldn’t be a holiday for us until we visited the award winning Ice cream shop in Beddgelert!! Can’t wait to come back for another stay.

We have just stayed for 2 nights in this beautiful cottage. The location is perfect, the garden backs on to the river with stunning scenery all around you. Thereā€™s everything that you could need in the cottage. The owners left us a welcome pack which was a lovely touch.
The village is lovely, we had a meal in The Tanronnen Inn which I would highly recommend. The landlord and the locals were so welcoming.
Thereā€™s lots of walks around, itā€™s such a lovely place. We will definitely be returning!

What a fantastic cottage right by the river. I was here with my wife on a trip down memory Lane as I stayed in Beddgelert when I was a kid just a few cottages down from Gilfach -y – nant. The cottage hit the sweet spot. As well as the cosiness of the property, the facilities were excellent and we would certainly plump to stay at Gilfach-y- nant as and when we return to North Wales in the future. Thank you fir a wonderful stay.

We have just returned from a wonderful week in Wales, staying in Gilfach Y Nant. There were 5 of us aged 17 upwards. The house is situated on the edge of Beddgelert, a truly beautiful village in the heart of a stunning area with loads to do. The house is spotless, has enough space to not be on top of each other and is very comfortable. The garden has the perfect patio with views to die for and we spent most of our time at the house out there (weather very obliging for most of the week). A lovely wee basket of local goodies was waiting for us in the kitchen and we happily scoffed all of it over the week. Thank you! We had no need of the lovely fire but can imagine that it is toasty warm at other times of the year and there are basic starter supplies included.
If I had any minor niggles it would be a lack of some basics in the cupboards. It’s rare for there not to be things like salt + pepper, sugar or oil left in the cupboard (even during covid times everywhere else we’ve been has had these available). Would also have appreciated a bread bin to keep work surfaces tidy and 6 cups, 6 knives and 5 bowls for a family meant had to be on top of the washing up. All very minor though and would happily recommend the house to anyone and would very much enjoy returning ourselves in the future. So glad to have found this place and have made some very happy memories.

This was our 4th stay at this cottage, we love being based in Beddgelert it is a wonderful village and love being able to do many walk/hikes straight from the cottage. Many areas of north Wales that we enjoy visiting are only around 30-45 mins drive from the village so this is ideal for us.
As always the cottage is immaculately presented and has everything you need.
We will be returning as soon as we can
