A spacious and modern detached property, Gwel-Y-Castell is a stylish holiday cottage near Harlech Beach sleeping eight people in total. The large property features a number of reception rooms and is a short walk from the golden sand beach, with fabulous views of Harlech Castle. With a wonderful outdoor living space to boot, this property is perfect for both summer and winter trips to the North West Wales coast.

The front door enters into a hallway leading to the kitchen and lounge diner to the left. The modern kitchen includes units running down one wall, with a breakfast to the opposite wall and a large American style double fridge freezer finished in stainless steel. The cream coloured shaker kitchen units are fitted with a grey stone effect worktop. A double oven and gas hob sits in the corner, with a toaster, kettle and built in dishwasher also included. There's ample worktop and storage space, making it the perfect kitchen to stock up with supplies for a great self-catering break. The breakfast bar opposite is a perfect spot to take a seat on one of the modern stools for a quick breakfast, or to simply sit with a glass of something cold. Beautiful wood strip flooring is laid under foot and runs through into the adjacent lounge diner.

The stunning open plan living space is perfect for gathering together for social evening meals, before retiring to the comfortable lounge area focused around a roaring log burner built into a stone inglenook fireplace constructed of stone. A modern chunky dark wood dining table seats eight with a combination of bench seating and stylish brown leather chairs. Two brown leather sofas and a patterned wing back armchair are located around a coffee table facing the cosy fireplace, and the room features a Smart TV located in the corner. A secondary reception room to the opposite side of the property doubles up as a games room. The bright cosy room features two fabric sofas and a coffee table, along with two brightly pattered armchairs facing the TV unit with Playstation, meaning the space can be used as a cosy reading area or a games room, where the children can have their own space.

Doors from this room lead through to a useful study area with desk, a separate utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer, and a further cloakroom. Completing the ground floor layout is a large double bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The bedroom features a large double bed, sitting alongside modern bedroom furniture and two comfortable armchairs. The en-suite, which can also be accessed via the hallway, is modern and stylish with a walk in shower cubicle, modern freestanding bath, basin with vanity unit and WC. Pale stone effect tiles on the floor contrast nicely with the darker slate effect wall tiles along one wall.

Stairs from the lounge lead to the first floor of this fabulous and stylish holiday cottage near Harlech Beach where a further two bedrooms are located, alongside a shower room. To one end, a large double bedroom features a grey divan bed with soft Egyptian cotton luxury bedding. Bedside cabinets, a dressing table, chest of drawers with TV and wardrobe are all finished in grey with wooden tops. Completing the layout, two brushed fabric side chairs are located in the corner with a small round coffee table. The feature wall is painted blue, with the remainder of the room a bright white, with a plush grey carpet.

The second bedroom, to the opposite end of the landing, is two bedrooms combined and separated by a partition. The door leads into the first area with a single bed to either side, along with two clothes storage units and a TV. A partition divides this area from the main double bedroom space, with a divan double bed against the end wall with bedside cabinets and table lamps. With further storage cupboards and side table, this room combination is ideal for a family with two children or a group who are happy to share. The final room on the first floor is a beautiful shower room, with a large walk in shower cubicle decorated with patterned coloured wall tiles, a basin with storage unit under and WC.

Location

The setting of this stylish holiday cottage near Harlech Beach makes it a fabulous holiday destination to explore the surrounding area. As well as having the fabulous views of Harlech's 13th century castle, the outdoor space features both a hot tub and covered outdoor kitchen. French doors from the lounge diner lead onto a sunny patio area with rattan lounge furniture located under a covered pergola attached to the property. This provides a great option of sunshine or shade depending on preference, and of course, the Welsh weather. Tucked into the corner of the private garden, a bubbling hot tub will tempt guests in the evenings, for a relaxing soak after a day out exploring or a day on the beach. A rustic outdoor covered kitchen features a sink and a large built in barbeque. The garden of Gwel-Y-Castell is the ideal social space to spend family evenings with alfresco dining and drinking.

With regards to the location of the cottage, you are on Harlech’s Beach Road, 200m from a beautiful sandy beach and walking distance to the Royal St David's Golf Course - it’s a really great location. Harlech itself has a lot on offer considering it is a small town. There is the castle of course with the attached visitors' centre. The high street has a number of cafes and restaurants and smaller gift shops. At the bottom end of town, there is a swimming pool and climbing wall.

You are really well placed to enjoy Snowdonia. Drive 20 minutes south and you come to Barmouth - a quintessential seaside town with everything you need to enjoy a day beside the seaside followed by a fab evening with all the restaurants, cafes, bars etc - there is lots going on here. A little further south will bring you to Dolgellau where you'll find Coed Y Brenin - a fantastic place for mountain biking and if you have children in the mix, I would strongly recommend a day spent here.

North will take you to Porthmadog and Portmeirion Village. Porthmadog is where you will find all the main supermarkets and a good choice of shops and places to eat. The Ffestiniog Steam train sets off from here before chugging its way up into the mountains of Snowdonia. Portmeirion Village is an Italian inspired village in North Wales and if you like the unusual, you should certainly make a point of going to visit.

The main towns and villages of Snowdonia are between 30 - 60 minutes away in the car and here is where you will find Zip World and of course all the mountains, lakes and rivers for walking, climbing, water sports, including white water rafting!

Wonderful property. Very peaceful surroundings. Had everything that we needed for a lovely, chilled week away by the sea. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.

Very comfortable and well appointed holiday home. Finished to a very high standard and meticulously clean. Perfect setting within a pristine park with beautiful views of the castle and glorious beach just a short walk away. Shop at the end of the road a bonus and the Queens Hotel nearby also recommended. We very much enjoyed a chilled holiday here. Thank you.

Wonderful location. Amazing view of castle especially when lit up at night. Lovely beach weather perfect. The cottage was very good. Enjoyed the outdoor areas especially with hot tub. A welcome pack would have been nice (use to having one). No washing up liquid. Two dishwasher tablets no milk for arrival no washing powder. No shower gel in bathroom. Shower had no rail to hold and nowhere to put soap. I am elderly and unbalanced this would have helped. Otherwise we had a lovely holiday. Just pointing these things out so visitors know need to bring them or get from shop.

Fab holiday home with lots of space for all my family and little baby too.
Communication was excellent from start to finish from Dioni staff and staff on the site.
Home was super clean and had amazing views of Harlech castle.
We made great use of the outdoor cooking area and seating despite some poor weather.
High chair and cot were ready on arrival 😀
I felt it would of been nice to have a welcome pack of some food provisions as I have had in previous accommodation and maybe some hand wash in the bathrooms.
It would of been of been nice for the owners to touch base just to say hello and welcome.
Not sure if they were the people who checked the hot tub as they were super lovely.
I got the owners details from Dioni email sent to me so I could contact them if i needed to thankfully it was not needed.

Also the bathroom with the bath is downstairs as it’s described as upstairs on the description and the Castle View park is before not after Min y Don park on the travel instructions. Not a big deal but just worth a mention.
All in all we had an amazing time and it was worth the extra money I paid for a luxury holiday home.
Dioni staff are so pleasant in person and on emails and they made the whole process so easy. Will book again for sure, Sorry to have had to come home.

Gorgeous and spotlessly clean holiday home, great layout for a multi generational holiday. The garden area with outdoor kitchen, hot tub, sheltered seating, enclosed garden for the dog plus amazing castle views was perfect.

Just a few minor suggestions – reading lamps in the lounge, extra set of cultlery would be useful, lighter duvets for the summer months and comfier pillows (but maybe that’s just our age!). It’s a good layout for the less mobile downstairs, with a new and stylish bathroom with a walk in shower, a handrail in the shower would be a helpful addition.

Great location, well stocked shop one way and beach the other (though not accessible for the less mobile but we knew that in advance). It’s on a quiet caravan site with immaculate grounds and freindly staff.

Dioni were one of the best holiday companies we have used, the video and floor plans were very helpful and we had quick responses to any queries.

We had a fantastic stay at castle view in Harlech, the house was absolutely stunning, very spacious and had amazing views. We couldn’t have asked for a better house or location for a family holiday. The bbq is great and we used it every day, and the hot tub was a fab addition too.
Staff that come in to check the hot tub are very friendly too. Would definitely come back again.
Thank you

Spent Christmas at Gwel-y-Castell exceeded our expectations. Arrived on a dark December night to be greeted with a lovely warm house decorated for Christmas. The house is well presented and very comfortable with everything you need. The location is perfect, close to the beach with amazing views of the Castle. Would definitely recommend.
