Bright and Spacious Holiday Cottage in Rural Setting | Hafod-Llecheiddior

Hafod is a great place to stay. On arrival we found everything to be clean and tidy and there was a useful welcome hamper.
The property is spacious and easy to get around for my wife (currently in a wheelchair). There are nice open views across to the mountains.
It’s in a a nice location with easy access to the coast or into Snowdonia.
It’s was nice to rediscover North Wales and I’m sure we will return again in the near future.
Overall, highly recommend!

The cottage is easy to find, it’s a great modern conversion surrounded by fields with sheep and sometimes cows as well as the amazing view of mountains in the distance. It is open plan, clean and tidy, with a well stocked kitchen containing some useful bits and pieces such as condiments/oil. It was lovely to arrive and find a welcome pack with some local produce which we made the most of. There are some games and dvds in the cupboards for those rainy days, a bbq and washing machine. The shower is amazing, like a rainfall, but be careful the water can get hot quickly. A dog bed and bowls are provided, although we took our own (fussy dog). In the living room, it’s lovely to open the double sliding doors and watch the sheep whilst sitting on the comfy sofa. Our dog liked to have a bark at them but they seem very unphased and even came over to him to see what the fuss was about. We were there at a particularly warm period and it was tricky to keep the rooms cool, especially the bedrooms (even with the velux windows open). It may be an option to take a fan with you if the weather is going to be warm. Also, as others have already said, unfortunately being in the location it is, the internet is very intermittent. This means that we’re glad we took some DVDs as the live tv and ITVX was very stuttery. I know that having internet on a family holiday shouldn’t be a problem, but it’s more about the tv than accessing the internet, and after a long day of climbing/walking we like to watch a family movie together.

It was a great base for beaches and walks. We did 3 beaches – Criccieth (very pebbly and only one area for dogs), Black Sands (sandy, park on the beach – be wary of the cars, dogs to the left only) , Borth-y-gest (very natural not touristy with lots of unfortunately deceased jellyfish). We also visited Pwllheli and their beach but didn’t stay long as it seemed like quite a run down area. We did some of the National Trust moderate walks which took us up mountains, over styles and being near some beautiful waterfalls, and the lovely villages of Beddgelert and Betws y coed. We did the woodland walk here but there are also some great little coffee shops. Many restaurants/cafes are dog friendly which is a bonus. We went to the Prince of Wales pub and Dylans in Criccieth (Dylans is a bit overpriced, especially £10 for dessert). Other than that we cooked tea in the cottage and also made picnics for our walks and beach time. The Tesco in Criccieth is where we bought our food on arrival.

Just one more tip is about the roads around the cottage. There are many non marked, single roads which are twisty windy, with only a few passing points, just be careful.

Overall, we had a lovely week’s holiday, we didn’t feel like we were missing anything in the cottage as it was so well stocked. If we wanted to ever return to the area, we’d not hesitate to stay here again.

Amazing location close to beaches. Had everything we needed for a week stay. We managed to make full use of the outdoor furniture and BBQ as the weather was lovely. As others have said the WiFi is not the quickest, but I suppose that’s to be expected in such a rural location. Modern facilities, comfy beds and powerful showers. It was excellent, we really enjoyed our stay and would love to return.

Another lovely stay (our third time) the cottage is very well equipped with very comfy beds and as a wheelchair user I found it very easy to navigate, a grab bar of some sort in the shower would make it perfect. We love watching the cows and sheep in the next field and as a base it’s great for exploring beaches, forests and handy for Anglesey too. The WiFi could do with some attention as it tends to bounce in and out but it’s not a major issue. Lovey welcome basket of goodies made us feel instantly on holiday, would highly recommend!

Overall, you’ll be very happy if you choose to stay here – the cottage/barn conversion is to a very high standard – remote and peaceful, and the owners were in contact via SMS to supply some helpful info on check-in and check-out. The welcome basket was a lovely unexpected addition too – and finding the games cupboard was nice – we played a few! You can gaze upon the sheep, try to figure out where the resident owl is hiding, and enjoy the stars. We did miss the lack of tumble-dryer (that’s on us not reading properly!) – there is a washing line, but if the weather is inclement and you need to dry something out quick, bear that in mind (there is a clothes airer provided) – otherwise you’ll love it.

We were guests at Hafod Llecheiddior in the summer of 2024.
The converted barn is practical, stylish and lovingly furnished.
The contact with the owners was always helpful and accommodating.
We spent 12 nights / 13 days of quiet and relaxing days here – surrounded by an idyllic landscape.
The daily ‘television’ (view from the living room sofa into the garden) : Cows and their calves, little lambs with their mothers, was heart-warming.
There were enough toiletries, dishwasher tabs and all the little things that make a stay like this stress-free and cosy.
The ‘welcome basket’ with all kinds of delicious regional products should also be emphasised.
Criccieth, Harlech, Anglesey, Eryri and many other wonderful places and beaches are within easy reach.

There is so much more to write…- to summarise:
it remains an unforgettable holiday in Wales!

Hafod Llecheiddior is a wonderful place to stay, everything is well thought out, it is very well furnished and super comfortable. There are great views over Snowdonia from the garden and it’s a great base for exploring North Wales.

The property was as described, spacious, clean and well laid out. The showers were wonderful and spacious. The beds were very comfortable a lovely peaceful place to stay and very central to lots of the wonderful attractions Wales has to offer. The hosts messaged on our day of arrival. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

This is a very well presented and equipped cottage in a lovely rural location, yet only 10 minutes from the nearest town.

This is our second stay at this lovely cottage. The kitchen area is well equipped, the beds are super comfy , the cottage was spotless and the finishing touches in the cottage were of a high standard such as shower gels and hand soaps. We were left 2 beautiful welcome packs with a mix of lovely treats and daily essentials . The cottage was decorated lovely for Christmas/ New year . The views from the lounge area are stunning and the sheep in the next field kept us amused . Perfectly located to get to everywhere we wanted to visit Anglesey, Betsw-y-Coed, Harlech, Bedgellert , Cricceth and beyond !! Very nice to find a dog bed and bowls provided too !! Thank you and we will definitely be returning .

A lovely week had by all in a peaceful setting. Spacious and comfortable. Clean comfortable beds and linen. However lounge area looking a little tired. Could do with a bigger toaster. Otherwise perfect.

From the moment we arrived we were so impressed by Hafod-Llecheiddior! Such a beautifully done barn conversion, kept wonderfully clean with a lovely little enclosed garden (perfect for our dogs), surrounded by fields with sheep and cows and beautiful views of the valley and surrounding mountains!

A great base to tour from. We recommend Bodnant Gardens, Aber Falls and Zip World for the adventurous!
Found a fantastic Chinese in nearby Cricceith and The Goat Inn ( the local pub) has wonderful food – although booking is essential!

It was our second stay at Hafod Llecheiddior, it’s a lovely cottage that’s really well equipped and great for someone with mobility issues, no steps in or out of the property and the showers are fairly level access and easy to use. A properly enclosed garden allowed the dogs to run around in safety which gives great peace of mind. The beds are super comfy and a very thoughtful welcome basket of goodies is such a nice touch when you arrive. We had a great time exploring the local area, visiting picturesque beaches and just chilling out in the cottage. We enjoyed it all even though the weather was rather unpredictable! Would highly recommend a stay at this property, everything being on one level really worked for us.

We have had a fabulous week staying at Hafod Llecheiddior. The property has been renovated to an extremely high standard. It was spotlessly clean, comfortable and well equipped. The welcome package was a lovely touch.
We loved the rural, peaceful location which was only a short drive away from Criccieth and Porthmadog. A perfect base to explore the Llyn Peninsula, Snowdonia and Anglesey.

Just spent a week at Hafod Dwyfach. It’s a fabulous place to stay. Really well thought out, well equipped and scrupulously clean. It’s also a great base to explore the Llyn Peninsula, Anglesey and Snowdonia. Highly recommended!

2nd visit to this fantastic property and enjoyed it even more. The setting is beautiful and the colours of spring were amazing, also loved watching the sheep and their lambs + on occasion cows and their calves in the adjacent field.
The property is immaculate and well equipped which made it an easy property for my disabled sister to get around.
We enjoyed every minute and have to say a very big thank you to the owners.

This barn conversion has the “wow factor”. It’s beautifully comfortable (good beds) and clean and has views over the fields to Snowdonia. Hubby and I went with two friends and we had a lovely week here. Went to the Lyn peninsula and drove as far as Abersoch, which looked lovely but we couldn’t park! Being a weekend it was rather busy even in May! Went to see the ospreys nesting at Tremadog. Good pub here for lunch – the Golden Fleece. Caernarfon castle is a short drive away (half an hour approx) but our favourite castle was Harlech – compact and interesting. Good cafe opposite the floating bridge too. Wonderful countryside, very pretty in May. And of course Snowdonia is fabulous, even though we didn’t go up it. We would love to return here – lots to see.

Just returned from our second visit to Hafod-Llecheiddior and again we were impressed with the barn conversion which is exceptionally well planned in a outstanding location. Well equipped and spotlessly clean. We have had a wonderful holiday. Plan to book again. Thank you Eleri and Nigel, we feel well rested after our stay.

What a delightful property!
We were so impressed by how sensitively the conversion had been completed, and enjoyed perusing the ‘journey’ via the photo album at the house.
Eleri, prior to arrival provided very comprehensive information which was most useful; additionally on arrival we were greeted with a wonderful welcome package full of numerous goodies. Very thoughtful- thank you.
Our two chows loved basking in the garden, and the newborn lambs and sheep provided much interest and entertainment for us all.
Hafod- Llecheiddior is situated in a lovely locale with beautiful pastoral views.

We loved staying at Hafod-Llecheiddior! It was the perfect base for exploring the Llyn Peninsula and Snowdonia, and even a bit of Anglesey. And on the day or two when the October gales and rains stopped us venturing forth, it was a lovely, clean, bright space for doing the jigsaw, reading and reaching for the odd glass of wine. Thank you!

We all had a lovely time in this peaceful and beautiful location. The cottage was great – well equipped and spotlessly clean. The welcome hamper was very welcome. Despite the weather we were in the sea most days and enjoyed exploring this fantastic area.

Loved our stay and would definitely recommend and return, Cricceth is stunning and everyone very friendly. The only criticism I can think of is that we didn’t have enough towels for four nights.

Fantastic property which was spotlessly clean on arrival and a comfortable & well equipped place to stay on the Llyn Peninsula. There is plenty of space in the lovely open plan living area and the kitchen had everything we needed. The bedrooms are spacious and both the double and twin have gorgeous bathrooms en suite. The location is great as it’s not far from many of the beaches and towns on the Llyn. We ate at The Goat and had a very nice meal. There are plenty of supermarkets and smaller stores to pick up any essentials. Very lovely stay in a gorgeous property which we would highly recommend.

A wonderful stay…..a beautiful barn conversion, spotlessly clean and well equipped. Thank you for the lovely welcome pack.

What a place! To start with you arrive to a warm spotlessly clean big bright converted barn. The gift pack was lovely… milk,bread,cake,fizz and a gift voucher and as it was Halloween during our stay a pumpkin too. Everything was so well thought through,from the equipment in the kitchen to the space you inhabited. Beds so comfortable,linen good quality,towels thick and bright. Then you open the curtains in the morning to that open view of the mountains in the distance and the farm animals 30 ft from your door. It is no lie when I tell you none of us wanted to leave to come home and that has NEVER happened before. Our only gripe would be the bathroom light is to dull to shave (says my partner!) or apply makeup. We loved it and would definitely recommend it 100% to anyone with young children or who has a disabled person in their group as we have.

First impressions of this cottage – WOW. Absolutely beautiful. Everything was good quality and in beautiful surroundings. Everything very very clean. Welcome pack very welcome. Kitchen well equipped and hob worked without any second guessing (spaghetti Bol on first night). Early morning walks for the dog down the tiny country lanes, and the view from sitting outside on the patio furniture just lovely. Only tiny little oversight was nowhere to get towels dry after showering, as no radiators or heated towel rails. So we draped them over the corners of the shower itself. I would return here to this cottage and recommend it to all my friends. In fact friends visited us here and they were blown away too.
Our reason for visiting north Wales was to climb Snowdon, and do the Zip wire and caverns. Zip world not cheap, but so well organised we didn’t begrudge them the money, and Snowdon was beautiful. We did Snowdon Ranger route, and the dog also managed easily.
Our other ‘best day’ was in Anglesey. By accident I found stunning pictures of a lighthouse on google, managed to locate it and off we went. Newborough in Anglesey for the sat nav. Parked in a country park. The beach, the woods, then the walk down to the lighthouses when the tide had gone out was fabulous.
Eating out with the dog wasn’t easy. Thank goodness for the Goat Inn just up the road. It’s wonderful. We booked a table in the bar, had a wonderful meal from an extensive menu, and went back another twice. That says it all.
Criccieth was lovely, both sides of the castle lovely walks. At the Prince of Wales pub I had some of the best chips I’ve ever had, and the meal much better than expected, and the takeaway from Mei’s Infusion Foods was good.
All in all a great week away, weather was superb which always helps enormously of course.

The cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean. Lovely peaceful location but not far from the major tourist attractions in the area. Perfect for a family holiday.

The barn is beautifully converted and has wonderful views. It is very comfortable and well equipped. The owners were extremely helpful and helped us a lot to ensure our youngest daughter, who is in a wheelchair was able to manage.

Absolutely lovely place to stay. Very relaxing and comfortable. Outdoor space for the dog is good except when nearby sheep and cows come for a look. Can cause a little inter species tension.

Stunning cottage with stunning views and a great location for exploring North Wales. I loved having my morning cuppa whilst sat outside watching the sheep and cows, what a lovely start to the day!
Really comfortable beds and fab showers. I have some mobility issues but found the whole cottage very accessible including the garden which was properly enclosed too (no gaps under fences) great for our two dogs and peace of mind for us. Very relaxed stay in a secluded area away from the noise of traffic but not too far away from local amenities. We’ll definitely return!

We have just returned after a four night break from this wonderful holiday cottage – very clean, very comfortable and the decoration is to an extremely high standard. The welcome pack is the best we have ever received.
We all agreed that this cottage is by far the best “Dioni” cottage we have stayed in.

Immaculate cottage with all we needed for a restful break. Quiet location and at this time of year (January) you need your car to access the nearby pub which is excellent.

Good base for the area as you’ve got the coast and the mountains all within easy reach

One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. Perfectly comfortable whatever the weather; great beds; well equipped. Fantastic area

Amazing cottage, have been travelling from South Wales to North Wales for over 20 years for a short break every year with my family and this is far the best. Access is all one level and ideal for my mother in-law who depends on a wheelchair. Fantastic views, well equipped kitchen with welcome pack.
The two en-suite bedrooms are light and airy with double wardrobes and walk in showers which are fantastic.

under floor heating throughout which is superb didn’t feel the November chill at all!!!!

Looking forward to booking for next year.

We’ve just come back from a lovely holiday. Location is beautiful, only 10 mins from Criccieth and near to lots of other great places. There is loads to do in the district and we will certainly be coming back again. Cottage was very nice, high standard throughout and met all our expectations

Amazing!!! LOVE the welcome pack. Immaculate accommodation. We will certainly be recommending to friends and family and we will be revisiting. Highly recommended Dylans restaurant, but make sure you pre-book. Traeth Penllech beach is Amazing, dog friendly and very quiet. Abersoch is lovely, lots of nice shops and places to eat. The views from the cottage are breathtaking and I love that its on its own and so peaceful. Fish and chips on the beach in Abersoch is a must! Beds are lovely and comfy, great night sleep! Wonderful week!! Thank you!!

I have limited mobility so great to have a holiday home with good access that is also of such a high standard and in a fantastic location- the view, the coast, our dog loved black rock sands!, and the amazing Snowdonia National Park. One recommendation we haven’t seen anywhere else: Cariad Gelato in Portmadog- fantastic quality!
