Large Family Holiday Cottage On The Llyn Peninsula | Hen-Felin

Hen-Felin is a beautiful and large family holiday cottage on the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula). This converted mill provides luxurious accommodation for up to 10 guests in this popular holiday destination. Exquisite furnishings and gorgeous location combine to provide a fantastic holiday cottage.

We turn off a quiet country lane onto a large private driveway with the cottage square in front. Crunching across the gravel we come to a large oak door which in turn leads us into a bright and airy entrance hall. The designer chair sitting under the stairs and the high vaulted ceilings gives an immediate sense of style and quality.

The lounge come dining room is off to the right. A huge long room which accommodates an impressive dining table and chairs at one end and a welcoming log fire and seating area at the other end. Bespoke lighting and ornaments adorn a French style side table. Sheepskin and Persian rugs are scattered casually over a solid oak wood floor.

We return back through the entrance hall to get to the kitchen. Country style fitted units sit on a warm quarried tiled stone floor which are, in turn, bedecked with a granite worktop. A refreshingly individual central island provides more work surface with a second dining table providing a focus for that morning family breakfast.

All the standard white goods are there. A large fridge freezer, fan oven, induction hob etc. plus a large utility room also houses a washing machine and tumble dryer.

5 bedrooms in total. The first of which is also on the ground floor. A large double bedroom with an en-suite shower room. As with the rest of the house, the furnishings are perfect. A large central king sized bed is flanked by two side tables with angle poised lamps. A solid wood wardrobe and chest of drawers provides plenty of storage. The en-suite bathroom houses a spacious low level shower, wc and washbasin.

Upstairs there are two more double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. Both of the double bedrooms are very generously sized. The twin bedrooms are smaller but still comfortable. Great views and a great light upstairs especially in the morning surrounded as you are by fields of sheep and the rolling hills of the Pen Llyn.

The family bathroom up here has a powerful shower over a bath, wc and washbasin. There is also a third shower room back down at the foot of the stairs if required.

Location

The mill stands in it’s own grounds with one other holiday cottage nearby and some working barns on the other side of the road, so a wonderful tranquil spot. There’s a grassy area to the rear of the cottage and a lovely patio with some impressive wood patio furniture. The adjoining field beyond does need some landscaping work at some stage but will not affect the quality of your stay.

Although grouped with our Abersoch cottages, Hen-Felin is actually a little closer to Aberdaron, a small village right at the tip of the Pen Llyn. Aberdaron is one of my favourite places in the world. Two great pubs, a selection of lovely tea rooms and a wonderful sandy beach. A must for all guests at the cottage.

Abersoch is a little further to the east and is of course well known for it’s clothing shops, restaurants and small bars. A busy marina and a relaxed surfing type culture make it another popular destination for visitors to the area.

The welsh coastal path naturally skirts around the house and the tip of the peninsula. The hidden coves and un-spoilt landscape must make this one of the most spectacular sections of this now famous path. A walk that can be enjoyed throughout the year. Many activity providers have also set themselves up in the area and help provide guests with all the fun, adventure and adrenaline they can wish for.

This is our second visit here at Hen Felin, and it has been just as good as last time. Thank you for the
lovely brownies when we got here. We had great weather, so we were able to enjoy the local beaches.
Our favourite is Whistling Sands and Towyn beach.
Thank you for another great stay. I’m sure we’ll be back soon.
