Step into Muriau-Bach and instantly feel yourself exhale.

Your journey begins, in this pet friendly property in the entrance porch/utility room, the perfect spot to kick off muddy boots after a ramble in the fields (or sneakily hide all those ‘essential’ beach purchases). With a washing machine and tumble dryer ready for action, you can pack light and stay fresh - whether it's sandy towels or walking gear that needs some TLC.

From here, wander into the heart of the cottage: a spacious and airy kitchen-diner. Sage green cabinetry, sturdy wooden worktops, and a rustic farmhouse table create a warm, inviting atmosphere - as if the room itself is offering you a cup of tea and a biscuit. Large windows bathe the space in natural light, and every detail invites slow mornings and hearty breakfasts.

The living room is a cosy delight, complete with beautiful exposed beams, leather sofas made for sinking into, and a roaring wood burner to keep you toasty during cooler Welsh evenings. (A quick note: the steep staircase you’ll spy in the corner is purely decorative - it's not in use by guests.)

The generously sized king-size bedroom continues the peaceful country vibe with calming colours, charming details, and plenty of built-in storage. In the bathroom, you’ll find a sleek large walk-in shower, a smart WC, and a stylish vanity area - the perfect set-up for reviving after a long day of adventuring.

Outside, the stone-flagged private courtyard is your sun-drenched sanctuary. Enjoy leisurely al fresco lunches, romantic sunset suppers, or simply a glass of something chilled as you gaze over the rolling fields dotted with sheep - your only real neighbours. Please keep your dog on a lead at all times due to the farm animals around the property.

Nestled on a working farm on the outskirts of the peaceful hamlet of Rhoslan, Muriau-Bach offers that rare mix of proper countryside seclusion with easy access to local hotspots.

A short drive whisks you into the charming seaside town of Criccieth, where you’ll find sandy beaches, historic castles, cosy pubs, and ice cream worth writing home about. Meanwhile, the awe-inspiring landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) and the iconic summit of Yr Wyddfa are right at your fingertips, promising adventure for all levels of intrepidness.

Whether you're planning brisk coastal walks, mountain summits, lazy beach days or simply some well-earned lounging, Muriau-Bach is the perfect base for your North Wales escape.

Location

Set on a working farm surrounded by peaceful fields, Muriau-Bach sits just outside the rural hamlet of Rhoslan, offering a true taste of Welsh country life - sheep, tractors and spectacular sunsets included.

Despite the tranquil setting, you're only a short drive from the Victorian seaside charm of Criccieth, where a dramatic castle looms over sandy beaches and a vibrant town centre bustles with independent shops, cafes and restaurants.

Further afield, the Italianate fantasy village of Portmeirion, the steam railways of Porthmadog, and the hiking and biking trails of Eryri are all within easy reach. And of course, Yr Wyddfa itself is ready and waiting for the bold (or those just happy to admire it from a pub garden).

We enjoyed our stay at Muriau-Bach. Quiet, secluded and well located. Well equipped kitchen. Very comfortable bed. Loved the wood burning stove and lambs playing outside the window. Attentive host. Definitely recommend.

What a wonderful find!
Muriau Bach was perfect for two on a few days Autumn break; snug and warm with everything we needed.
Thank you Sharon for very quickly resolving a problem we had with the heating.

We were impressed with The Goat Inn, but it is so popular even out of season, that it’s worth booking
a table in advance.

This cottage is a lovely barn conversion set in tranquil and idyllic surroundings. The cottage has everything you could require for a self-catering break/holiday and is decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard. From the sheep wandering past your window to a warm welcome from the sheep dog, this is such a peaceful place to stay and is ideally located to tour the area and the coastline. Criccieth is a lovely place to explore with a great beach and there are wonderful walks available in the area. If you fancy a local drink and something to eat, the Goat pub is just a mile up the road but there are also many other bars and restaurants just a short drive away. The host, Sharon, was warm and welcoming and very helpful with regards to the area and places to go.
I would not hesitate to recommend Muriau-Bach to anyone looking to stay here and would definitely return in the future.

Idyllic situation- peace and quiet with incredible sunsets. Really handy for Criccieth with its gorgeous beach, views and castle. Fantastic mountains to walk nearby (Nantlle Ridge, Moel Hebog, Mynydd Mawr, Moel Eilio, Moelwyns…). There are plenty of riverside, coastal and woodland walks also. Two cromlechs can be visited on foot from the property.

The property is beautifully finished and extremely comfortable. The kitchen is equipped with every convenience. We enjoyed a lovely mini break, and wanted for nothing.

The hosts are friendly, welcoming and helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Muriau Bach! Thank you!

We stayed at a lovely cottage called Muriau Bach, it was comfortable and homely. We enjoyed the outdoor space and spent a lot of time eating outside and gazing at the wonderful views of the mountains beyond. Great location for sightseeing, quiet and tranquil. We ate at the George III pub in Penmaenpool, delicious food, friendly staff (booking advisable). Good weather meant we went swimming in the sea in Criccieth and ice cream at Cadwalladers! Lylah also had a great time.

Muriau-Bach is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in! It was spotlessly clean, with lovely furnishings, and extremely comfortable. It is a quiet place, perfect for a restful get-away-from-it-all, that said, there is plenty around to keep you busy. The hosts are friendly and approachable, and we wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a holiday here – we really hope we can return one day!

Love the birds singing in the morning and the nice sheeps scienery from our window. The place is perfect, nearby all the Wales hotspots. We give this place a 5 stars award. A big thanks to our host!
