Welcome to Ty-Ar-y-Porth, a charming three-storey coastal cottage perched proudly on the seafront in the beautiful village of Borth-y-Gest. With water views, stylish interiors and the dramatic landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) just around the corner, it’s the perfect base for a laid-back North Wales escape.

Step into the lounge and settle into deep sofas, a wood-burning stove set in a slate hearth, and a big window that frames the Glaslyn Estuary like an ever-changing painting. Whether it’s sunrise over the hills or seagulls drifting past on the tide, it’s a view you’ll never tire of.

Downstairs, the cottage opens into a spacious kitchen and dining area with country styling and a nod to the nautical - oars on the walls, painted cabinets, and a rustic wooden table perfect for family meals or messy beach picnics. Dual ovens and a well-equipped kitchen make eating in a breeze, and there’s more than enough tea-and-toast charm to last the week.

On the first floor, you’ll find two beautiful king-size bedrooms, both calm, comfortable and tastefully dressed in coastal colours. There’s also the main bathroom, with a traditional bath, handheld shower mixer, basin and loo.

Head upstairs again and you’ll reach the top floor - where things get even more interesting. At the top of the stairs, there’s a second living room tucked under the eaves, with a sofa and TV - ideal for film nights, quiet reading, or letting the kids have their own space. Just off this living room is the twin bedroom, bright and airy, with two standard single beds and a little more privacy - perfect for older kids or friends sharing.

Downstairs, there’s a second bathroom ground floor with a powerful Aquila shower, basin and loo - guaranteed to wake you up better than coffee.

Outside, you’ll find a sunny, enclosed rear garden, complete with rattan dining set and steamer garden chairs - a surprisingly private space that’s perfect for lunch in the sun, lazy breakfasts, or letting the dog (yes, they’re welcome too) potter around in peace. WiFi is included, and there’s free on-street parking right outside.

Location

Ty-Ar-y-Porth is set in the peaceful, pastel-hued village of Borth-y-Gest, a true hidden gem on the Glaslyn Estuary, just around the headland from Porthmadog.

Step out the front door and you’re metres from the coastal path, which leads past secret coves, sandy bays and wild headlands - perfect for long dog walks, morning dips, or collecting pebbles with the kids. The beaches at Samson’s Bay and Traeth Bach are walkable, unspoilt, and often practically deserted.

In the village, you’ll find a friendly café and a popular waterfront restaurant, ideal for slow brunches or sunset dinners. For more variety, Porthmadog is just a 15-minute walk and offers shops, pubs, supermarkets and the famous Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways.

You’re also perfectly placed for exploring Eryri National Park, with Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) just a short drive away. Other nearby gems include Black Rock Sands, Harlech Castle, Portmeirion, and the Llyn Peninsula. Whether you're here for the hiking, swimming, sightseeing or simply sitting still with a good book and a better view, this is the place.
