Three Bedroom Holiday Cottage In Borth Y Gest | Ty-Gwyn

Porthmadog

This three bedroom holiday cottage in Borth Y Gest is the perfect location for anyone looking for that traditional seaside holiday destination. Walking distance to the harbour and cafes and some lovely sandy beaches and only a short drive away from the majestic mountains of Eryri (Snowdonia).
Three doors lead off the entrance hall. One leads to a convenient ground floor wc and washbasin. The second leads into the lounge but lets turn left first into the kitchen diner. White fitted units sit on black porcelain floor tiles. A large picture window looks out over a collection of houses in this friendly seaside village and a thoroughly modern glass table serves as a space for family meals.

If we continue on round we come to the lounge. A bright and airy room with some lovely French doors opening out onto a sunny patio. A fat comfortable leather sofa and matching arm chairs sit facing a TV above a modern wall hung fireplace. From here we can continue up an open staircase to the first floor.

Three bedrooms up here. One double room, one twin room and one smaller single room. Simple furnishings and clean white décor maintains that feeling of light and freshness suitable for a seaside holiday cottage. The family bathroom has a shower over bath arrangement as well as a wc and washbasin.

Location

A small private patio area overlooks a lawned courtyard area. There’s always a great mix of locals and holiday makers in Borth Y Gest so lots of opportunities for a friendly chat and some local insights if you’re that way inclined.

The cottage is only a hundred meters or so away from the small harbour. And a couple of lovely cafes and bistros are dotted along the front. If you walk west along the estuary the sheltered harbour quickly gives way to some lovely sandy beaches with lots of hidden coves and secret pathways to explore. The wonderful welsh coastal path passes through this point. A path which will lead you all the way to the tip of the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula) if you have the energy.

Porthmadog golf course is also walking distance away as is the harbour town itself. Porthmadog is quiet a bit bigger than Borth Y Gest so there’s naturally a greater choice of shops, restaurants and pubs here.

A short car journey west will bring you to Criccieth. Another beautiful seaside village well worth exploring. Pwllheli further to the west again is similar to Porthmadog with a small supermarket as well as smaller shops stocking great local produce.

Lots to do in the area if you can tear yourself away from those sandy beaches. Guests can enjoy anything from survival days at the Bear Grills Centre to lazy afternoons wandering around castles and historic monuments. You might want to traverse a victorian slate quarry at 100mph on a zip line or perhaps wander along the beach with a Lama (yes a Lama), the choice is yours.

We enjoyed our stay in Borth y Gest. Good communication with the hosts, who even gave us a tray of cakes and tea bags when we arrived. House was nice and comfortable. 5 minutes from Porthmadog (need sat nav to find the house). So many places to see nearby. Diolch yn fawr

A lovely fresh clean home with comfy settees and bed. Not cluttered but with enough implementsto make it a home from home.
The host was so thoughtful to my situation bringing me flowers. Also response was quick and helpful to an enquiry.
You are close to a wood and minutes from a beach. Perfect for walking the dog.
Also a great base for so many places to visit
My one comment which is because I read alot is the lightening. A lamp added would have made a difference. I hope to be back soon.

The house was immaculate! It had everything it said it had (and more: there were hairdryers, 3 in fact – one for each room!) The welcome pack was a wonderful treat and the owner couldn’t do enough for us. It was perfect for both our 90 year old aunt on a frame, our children and dog. The beds were comfortable and the kids loved disney plus! No ‘normal’ channels, but the smart tele had everything we needed. It was lovely overlooking the bay, and even though there was a 50th garden party 1 night, there was no noise in the house, and the neighbours were quite and lovely. The only small downside was not having an enclosed garden or area, as out small dog had be kept on a lead to do it’s business all the time. We couldn’t just let him out in a morning, but accompany him, sometimes in our pjs. Sorry neighbours! But plenty of amazing walks nearby and hope to return. Thanks for having us, we were sad to leave.

We love Borth-y-Gest and this modern holiday home suited our needs for a last minute short break. Lovely owner who popped over to check on our needs. Welcome pack of milk, tea, sugar, Bara Brith and wine was a great surprise.

We had such a perfect relaxing break at Ty Gwyn. Excellent house in a fantastic location, extremely clean and well-equipped, a very comfortable home. Good WIFI and a brand new big TV. The location is an excellent base for exploring North Wales. Several beauty beaches in walking distance. Helpful and very friendly owner nearby. We would highly recommend Ty Gwyn and definitely come back !

Thank you for a lovely stay.

We (2 adults, three children) had a brill week staying at Ty Gwyn. The house itself was great; a good size, bright, clean, well furnished and just a hundred yards from the harbour and a short walk to a series of interconnected beaches – the little welcome bundle of food was a really nice gesture too. Borth y Gest is a lovely and quiet village, in an ideal location from which to explore North Wales with Porthmadog, Portmeirion and the fabulous beach at Morfa Bychan just a few minutes drive away. Llanberis, from where the Snowdon Mountain Railway departs, is a staggeringly beautiful 40min drive away and the Llechwedd Zip World/ Slate Caverns site is about 30mins away. For a relaxed evening meal we recommend the Grapes Hotel in nearby Maentwrog (20mins drive) – good value with a beautiful view. As regards the booking process, communication with Dioni was great throughout and we completely recommend Ty Gwyn as the perfect base from which to enjoy your holiday!!!!!

The house was immaculately clean. Well set up for 5 people. Decoration was in good order. Great position in bay.

Everything that we needed. We spent most of of the time with our 2 grand daughters at two of the Zip worlds, they had a whale of a time.

Thank you Patricia and Chris.

Lovely few days at Ty-Gwyn. Spotlessly clean, quality furnishings and fittings. Ideal situation in beautiful village, minutes from the sea and easy access to cliff paths. Walking distance of Porthmadog. In the village itself, the Sea View restaurant was popular and the Baie Borth deli a lovely place for lunches and coffee. Helpful owner nearby if needed, ideal family holiday let.
