Welcome to Y-Big, a former pair of traditional stone cottages successfully merged into one delightfully sprawling, single-storey retreat. Perched along quiet country lanes just on the outskirts of Morfa Nefyn on the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula), this is a holiday home designed for those who appreciate authentic Welsh charm, modern eco-conscious comforts, and the luxury of unhurried coastal living.

Your guided tour begins in the bright, light-filled conservatory at the front. Furnished with comfortable woven seating, it serves as the ultimate spot to drop your beach bags, kick off your walking boots, and contemplate the sweeping rural views over a morning cuppa. Moving through into the heart of the cottage, you are greeted by an open-plan kitchen and dining area featuring exposed timber ceiling beams, a classic stone hearth with an ornate bread oven feature, and a generous wooden dining table. The kitchen is fully equipped with modern conveniences - including a tall stainless steel fridge-freezer, microwave, integrated oven, and a dishwasher. Running the dishwasher during the sunny afternoon hours is actively encouraged, as the cottage runs on high-tech ground source heating, solar panels, and battery storage. It is practically a green holiday high-five to Mother Nature.

Step down a subtle level change into the warm and inviting living room. Here, a real log burner sits against whitewashed stone walls, ready to take the edge off a chilly evening after a day exploring the coast. Even in the depths of winter, the ground source heating maintains a gentle background warmth that guests can easily tweak via a simple wall thermostat. Settle into the plush leather or fabric sofas, gaze out over the deep stone sills toward the green fields beyond, or tune into the TV mounted neatly on a rustic log base.

When night falls, Y Big comfortably sleeps four guests across two cleverly situated bedrooms. The master double bedroom boasts characterful whitewashed stonework, rich timber beams, solid wooden furniture, and its own private en-suite WC with a hand basin - plus a glazed external door opening directly out onto the drive. The second bedroom offers twin beds and generous built-in wardrobe space. Just next door, the main family bathroom serves up a sleek walk-in shower, washbasin, WC, and a traditional bidet (though no bath, so leave the rubber duck behind).

Outside, the property caters equally well to humans and four-legged companions. A paved terrace features a chiminea for cozy evening stargazing and a dedicated stand for disposable BBQs. Surrounded by open lawns, stone walling, and sweeping views toward the peak of Yr Eifl, it is a peaceful spot to unwind - and with dedicated parking for two cars, navigating the local lanes and returning home is effortlessly straightforward.

Location

Y-Big occupies an enviable, quiet position nestled down peaceful country lanes on the outskirts of Morfa Nefyn on the Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula). This Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is renowned for its dramatic coastal scenery, rolling farmland, and hidden coves.

While tucked away in a tranquil rural spot, local conveniences are just a short drive away. The village pub sits within a mile, making it ideal for a quick trip out for food or drinks - though given the unlit country lanes, taking the car or calling a local taxi is definitely recommended over a night walk! The golden sands of Morfa Nefyn beach are less than three miles away, leading around the headland to the famous car-free fishing village of Porthdinllaen and the legendary Ty Coch Inn.

For keen walkers, the dramatic triple peaks of Yr Eifl rise nearby, offering breathtaking trails with views stretching across Caernarfon Bay to Anglesey. A short seven-mile drive south takes you to the vibrant market town of Pwllheli, with its bustling marina, independent shops, and coastal eateries. Further afield, but well within a 20-mile radius, you can explore the medieval coastal fortress of Criccieth Castle or venture toward the edge of Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park for world-class mountain scenery.
