Welcome to Y-Nyth, a property that proves a boutique coastal cottage Ceredigion doesn’t have to mean floral curtains and dusty doilies. Dressed in a daring shade of charcoal black that stands out with effortless cool on Church Street, this is a masterclass in contemporary Welsh living. Inside, the design successfully marries reclaimed timber beams with a high-end architectural finish that feels more "design hotel" than "village rental."

As we begin our tour, let’s linger for a moment on the threshold - mostly because the 7kW EV charger is right there, ensuring your car is as recharged as you’re about to be. Step inside Y-Nyth, and the first thing you’ll notice is that we’ve ditched the traditional clutter for sleek, open space. The ground floor is a sprawling dream where underfloor heating keeps your toes toasty. The living area is centered around a stunning terracotta sofa and a brutalist-cool concrete plinth that houses the wood burner, perfect for those atmospheric West Wales evenings when the rain is lashing against the glass.

The kitchen is a chef’s playground, equipped with everything from a coffee machine for that essential morning kick to champagne flutes for the evening toast. For those who can’t quite leave the office behind, there’s a dedicated workspace - though at Y-Nyth, we can't guarantee you won't just spend the whole time staring at the clever interplay of light and shadow across the microcement floors.

Moving through the house, you’ll find that Y-Nyth offers three distinct boutique sanctuaries, ensuring plenty of space for the whole family (or a very lucky group of friends). Two of the bedrooms boast magnificent King size beds with sleek, built-in cupboards - perfect for tucking away your coastal gear. The third is a versatile zip-link King, which can be easily transformed into two singles should your guests require a little more personal bubble space. The bathrooms remain a particular highlight; the ground floor wetroom features a tactile stone basin and a finish so smooth you’ll want to take a photo of it for your mood board.

However, the real showstopper at this boutique coastal cottage Ceredigion is waiting through the black-framed Crittall-style doors. The garden is fully enclosed - ideal for two pets - and features a spectacular sunken seating area. At its heart sits a corten steel fire pit, practically begging you to crack open the wine from your welcome hamper and watch the stars. It’s the ultimate spot for a BBQ after a day exploring the Ceredigion coast.

Location

Nestled in the historic village of Llanrhystud, Y-Nyth is perfectly placed for a mix of coastal adventure and rural quiet. You are just a short stroll from the local pub, The Black Lion, for a well-earned pint, and about half a mile from the shingle beach, where the Ceredigion Coastal Path offers miles of dramatic cliff-top walking.

If you fancy venturing further afield, the colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron is just 7 miles south - perfect for crabbing or sampling their famous honey ice cream. To the north, the bustling university town of Aberystwyth (9 miles) offers the Cliff Railway, the National Library of Wales, and a pier that’s perfect for a sunset walk. For nature lovers, the Cors Caron National Nature Reserve is roughly 15 miles inland, while the dolphin-spotting hotspot of New Quay is an easy 14-mile drive down the coast. Whether you’re here to hike the heritage coast or simply to hide away in a very nice garden, Y-Nyth is your ideal Ceredigion base.
