If you’re looking for a dog friendly property, in an ideal location for exploring both Eryri (Snowdonia) and Pen Llyn (Llyn Peninsula), within walking distance of the beach, and with the added benefit of an EV charger, then this stylish contemporary bungalow with far-reaching sea views ticks all the boxes!

Recently renovated, Yr Awel is ideally located in a quiet cul-de-sac yet within easy walking distance of the centre of Criccieth. Known for its ruined castle and connections to Lloyd George, Criccieth is a laid back coastal town with plenty to offer. A path leading from the back garden provides a shortcut to the town centre, meaning you can walk to the various cafes, pubs, shops and restaurants, and of course, the beach, all within a few minutes.

The property sleeps up to six guests in three bedrooms with off road parking for two cars and a newly landscaped private garden with panoramic views.

All three bedrooms are decorated in soothing neutral tones, setting the scene for rest and relaxation, and a break from day to day life. To the front of the property the twin bedroom is decorated in calming blue and white, with artwork reflecting the property’s coastal location. Next to the twin is the main bathroom, with a full sized bath as well as a double walk-in shower, followed by a double bedroom which looks out onto the side garden and has the benefit of a wall mounted smart TV, perfect for lazy mornings.

The spacious master bedroom features a king sized bed and an ensuite shower room that gives luxury hotel vibes with a sleek bathroom suite, back lit mirror and generous double shower. This lovely bedroom also has a wall mounted smart TV and large patio doors which open onto a small terrace, an ideal morning coffee spot to sit and enjoy the far reaching sea views.

The open plan kitchen / living / dining room is a light and spacious room with picture windows affording views over the garden to Bae Ceredigion; patio doors open from the dining area onto the terrace with steps leading to the garden.

The sleek contemporary kitchen is well equipped, with a fridge freezer, dishwasher, oven, hob and microwave, along with a four slice toaster to cater for large family breakfasts, and a washing machine to help you keep on top of holiday laundry. A breakfast bar with comfortable high chairs links the kitchen and living areas and provides a sociable space to enjoy a glass of wine while preparing dinner. In the living area the large L shaped sofa is a welcome spot to relax after a day of exploring the local area, and enjoy a film on the large wall mounted smart TV.

At the rear of this stylish contemporary bungalow with far-reaching sea views the private garden has been thoughtfully landscaped, the terrace makes an ideal al fresco breakfast spot, while a further decked area has been perfectly positioned to make the most of the beautiful views and provides the main outdoor dining area. The garden offers plenty of space for children and pets to play, and a covered area provides bike storage for guests who’d like to explore the stunning surrounding countryside on two wheels.

Location

This stylish contemporary bungalow with far-reaching sea views is ideally located in central Criccieth, and is well placed for exploring both Eryri and Pen Llyn.

Criccieth itself is a charming coastal town with a lot to offer, well known for its famous ruined castle, which sits on a rocky outcrop overlooking the sea, and its long, pebbly beach. Lazy days can be easily whiled away exploring the ramparts, meandering along the seafront and browsing the shops and galleries that line the high street. You’ll find plenty of cafes where you can enjoy a sweet treat, and no shortage of places to eat out with restaurants including Poachers and Spice Bank on the high street, and Dylan’s on the seafront. A path leads from the garden of Yr Awel directly down to the town centre, making it a very easy walk to the various cafes, pubs, restaurants and shops, and of course, the beach.

Just outside Criccieth the village of Llanystumdwy offers some lovely walking routes and is home to the Dwyfor Rabbit Farm, much loved by generations of visitors and locals alike. Other nearby attractions include Dragon Raiders Activity Park, a family-friendly park which offers quad biking, paintballing and Segway trails; Glasfryn Park which offers a range of indoor and outdoor activities including ten-pin bowling, archery and go-karting along with an aquapark, and for adrenaline junkies Zip World Llechwedd is approximately a half hour drive, enjoy the thrilling Titan zip line, take the Deep Mine Tour or enjoy some subterranean fun with Bounce Below and underground golf.

In Porthmadog, around a 10 minute drive from Yr Awel, you’ll find more independent shops, such as the fantastic Glosters, which stocks a wide range of handmade ceramics and crafts from local artisans, and the Portmeirion shop which includes a first floor cafe with window tables providing a great spot to watch the world go by. Visit the Purple Moose Brewery, head to the whimsical world of Portmeirion village or jump on the Welsh Highland or Ffestiniog railways and enjoy a ride through the stunning surrounding landscape.

In the opposite direction you’ll find the spectacular natural beauty of Pen Llyn with around 100 miles of beautiful coastline and a wealth of charming villages and unspoilt countryside, it’s an outdoor lover's dream. Head to the northern coast to explore hidden coves and rugged landscape, or to the southern coast for long, sheltered sandy beaches. Cyclists, walkers and watersports enthusiasts will never tire of this lovely part of Wales.

Great stay in this well equipped comfortable dog friendly accommodation with excellent facilities. The EV charging availability was appreciated and it was nice to meet the owner to activate plus a chat with father in-law on bin collection day. Thanks for the welcome pack. Hope to see you again.

A wonderful week in a beautiful house. It’s spacious yet cosy and goodness what a view! Frances was very welcoming and left some gorgeous Easter treats for the grandchildren. Beds are so comfortable – we all slept like logs. Dog included! Location is perfect as it’s a short walk to the beach and shops inc a fabulous little bakery. I had a few days on my own here too and felt safe and comfortable. Would definitely stay again. Thank you for such a lovely week in your beautiful house.

Wonderful home and owner, Frances. Glorious views of the sea and a path at the bottom of the garden with quick access into town. The bungalow was spotlessly clean, modern and very comfortable. We were a family of 5 adults and 4 dogs and there was plenty of space for all. We would love to return!

This was our second stay here, and we would not hesitate to return again. We spent four wonderfully relaxing weeks at Yr Awel. The property is in a superb location with fabulous views. Despite the weather not always being on our side, we still enjoyed plenty of walks along the beach and most mornings out on the fantastic balcony, gazing out to sea. We left feeling refreshed and recharged.

Frances is a true 5‑star hostess — nothing is ever too much trouble, and communication with her was excellent throughout. Although the property photos are already impressive, they still don’t fully capture how stunning and stylish the house is in person. It is spotlessly clean; we half‑expected to notice some wear after our visit a year ago, but everything was still absolutely pristine.

The location is ideal, with easy access to the Llŷn Peninsula, the rest of Gwynedd, and beyond. There’s plenty to do locally, with great pubs for food and drinks and amazing coastal walks to explore.

Huge thanks to Frances and the team at Dioni for yet another memorable holiday.

Wonderful contemporary bungalow with far reaching views over the lovely town of Criccieth.

Garden path so handy with our two dogs, we had such an enjoyable stay in this well equipped smart property.

Cricieth castle is well worth a visit.

Best food by far is the poachers restaurant.

Perfect stay

Wow, wow, wow from the moment we walked through the door at Yr Awel we were impressed at the quality and attention to detail of this property. The added surprise of a bottle of fizz, milk and bara brith was very touching. Location was perfect with the rear gate taking you down the path to town and the beach. Frances was the perfect host and we appreciated all her communication.
Criccieth holds a special place in our hearts reliving childhood memories with time on the beach, fish and chips. Diolch yn fawr, bendigedig xx

We thoroughly enjoyed our week’s stay at Yr-Awel. Its location, in Criccieth, is perfect for exploring all the attractions of North Wales. The newly renovated bungalow was bright, airy and warm with lovely views of the sea. Had it been a little warmer we would have dined outside on the delightful patio area.
The kitchen was very well appointed with nothing lacking, and Frances, our host, was very responsive when we had a problem with the television. Overall I would highly recommend staying at this holiday cottage.
