Charming North Wales Holiday Cottage | Yr-Efail

Yr-Efail is a holiday cottage that has been done to a very high standard. The finish, the furniture and the kitchen supplies are all of a good quality and the cottage was clean ready for our arrival. The only cleaning gripe I had was that the bathrooms did not smell very fresh when we arrived – in fact they smelt damp and on closer inspection both the shower cubicle and bath tiles were covered in soap scum and black mould. This is a shame, as the bathroom and shower room fixtures and fittings were of good quality and, rarely for holiday accommodation, had plenty of well thought out storage.The sink unit in the shower room has also been damaged, although the crack was not deep enough to cause any leaks.

The property is well placed for walks to the beach, to local shops or the pub, or even into the hills, and although is is right next to a side road, not much traffic came past during our stay.

We really liked this cottage and would certainly stay there again. It is just a shame that the bathrooms have not been cleaned properly. The owners clearly spent a lot of money fitting out this cottage, and the cleaning of the bathrooms just let the place down.

We had a lovely week at Yr-Efail. The cottage is really comfortable and well equipped. Wonderful views and we were lucky with the weather. The shop with the butchers counter is great for the bbq which we took advantage of. The nearby beaches are wonderful and you can walk from the cottage but perhaps a little far if you are less able. Can drive and park near beach however. About half hour to Portmeirion to visit.

We had a very pleasant stay in comfortable cottage. This was our first time in (north) Wales and were pleasantly surprised by the Snowdonia nature and beautiful beaches along the coast. We explored the mountains per mountain bike and had some really great tours. The cottage itself was very comfortable, spacious and had a very well equipped kitchen and a big garage for safe storage of our bikes. We didn’t got the chance to try out the BBQ but the view from the terrace is great.

Throughly enjoyed our stay at Yr-Efail. Very clean & tidy with loads of room. The outdoor space & BBQ were very much enjoyed. A real treat to be able to walk to the beach, picking up an ice cream on route from the camp site shop. Visited Barmouth twice, caught the train from the smallest station/platform that you cross whilst on route to the beach. Some interesting shops & places to eat, fabulous beach & well worth a wander across the Barmouth bridge. Harlech castle, Pwllheli, steam train from Porthmadog to Blaenau Ffestiniog, train from Llanberis to Snowdon summit, various zip world experiences…….
Overall a great location for visiting north wales. We crammed in loads, just wish we’d stayed for longer so that we could have enjoyed the house & beach more!
Would definitely like to stay again at Yr-Efail!

Holiday let was spacious and comfortable. Only issue were the steps in the en-suite they were incredibly slippery which resulted in one of us falling but once we realised this was an issue we took extra precautions.

The property was well maintained and presented well, and plenty of hot water and showers were great; the heating was also well managed, the property was warm, and the gas fire was a bonus, which we used for evenings in the local area the views are amazing. On the coastline, we visited the Corris mines and Harlech Castle, which was our favourite place. There were some lovely shops and places to eat, and we also visited Caernarfon Castle. We went to Mobar restaurant, which is very near the cottage, and it was excellent, as was Dylan’s in Criccieth.
Overall a really nice few days away.
Overall you will not be disappointed with the cottage, it is above expectations, but please be warned about the exit onto the main road as a steep uphill entry and blind view suggest as we did one of your cars gets out and guides the driver. OR go the other way down narrow roads to exit coming back up into nearby village next to Huws & Grays.

We loved our week at Yr-Efail. The house was so bright and welcoming to come home to at the end of a day’s sightseeing, with wonderful views towards the sea and mountains from the lounge. We found Dyffryn Ardudwy to be a really good base for exploring north Wales, with plenty of good pubs and restaurants within a few minutes’ drive of the house (including the Ysgethin Inn at Talybont, the Victoria Inn at Llanbedr and Norbar, just outside Barmouth). We’ll definitely be back!

Could do with some clear instructions for the fire place. A few decking slabs are beginning to get tired so would need to be replaced.
Location was great for getting out and about and making the most of the surrounding areas.
Otherwise we had a lovely stay and will definitely book with Dioni again!

Very pleasant and comfortable cottage in an excellent location for getting to the beach and exploring the Snowdonia coast and mountains. One or two niggles on arrival that were resolved the next day by the owner, which was good service. Would use as a base for this area again.

We had a beautiful stay in this gorgeous house. Immaculate and everything you needed at hand. Lovely and peaceful. Central for lots of amenities. Will definitely return.

This was our 2nd Visit to Yr-Efail in two years and once again we had another splendid time.
Brilliant accommodation and location.We even got to talk to some of the locals who where really friendly.
The Spa’s Butchers still do the best sausages ,and we had three terrific Bbq’s on the terrace.
A Third visit is on the cards for next year.

A lovely stay at Yr-Efail, the cottage was very spacious & clean. The patio area & bbq was well used due to the fantastic weather during our stay & we sat & watched some stunning sunsets. The garage very useful for storing our bikes plus one car
It was a good base from which to explore the area. Beautiful beaches, one only a 20 min walk from the cottage. A lovely area for walking & cycling in the hills & gorgeous coastal towns near by, it had a bit of everything.
Just a couple of niggles but they didn’t spoil the holiday and can easily be put right I’m sure.
It would have been helpful to have had an instruction/ information book. If this was missing due to covid then put it on the website or send with details. The other was that there was no cleaning products provided to clean down surfaces & bbq. Other properties we’ve stayed in have provided them,
As I said this didn’t distract from a fantastic time at Yr-Efail & would definitely recommend Dioni as a company to hire a cottage from & would certainly book this cottage again.

We had a lovely holiday at Yr Efail, the house is beautiful and very well equipped, extremely clean and comfortable. Fabulous view from the roof terrace that we never tired of! The beach in the village is one of the best we’ve visited and our boys loved exploring the dunes and floating in the clear sea, looking back at the mountains of snowdonia beyond the shore. We had great walks in the hills and an outing to Portmeirion. I would recommend Dioni to everyone, our holiday went very smoothly and the location of our house was perfect. Thank you!

Lovely cottage, it is a close to walk to the shop and beach and a great base to explore from.

The only thing I would say is there is no instruction booklet, this could be emailed over if this is because of covid. Also more shade is needed in the outside area.

We had a fabulous week . The accommodation was lovely and spacious. We had some great sunset evenings on the patio. All in all North Wales is our new love. Can’t wait to book for next year

Yr-Efail certainly did not disappoint – fully equipped with everything you require for a vacation.
A stunning property, with a view from the outside two tiered decking, that was majestic, especially when the sun sets.
A fantastic base to visit many of the beaches and inland mountainous regions that North Wales has to offer.

Lovely spacious cottage which was enjoyed by all our family.
Beautiful views from the balcony and enjoyed eating out there. Well placed for lovely beaches,Snowdon and Anglesey.
Few things niggled us but didn’t spoil the holiday. No hairdryer,a few more kitchen cloths and tea towels and egg cups would be helpful.
BBQ is missing due to COVID but owners kindly brought a disposable one.
One final point for anyone staying don’t miss the ice cream shop by the castle in Harlech!

Really enjoyed our visit, accommodation to a high standard, which we always have come to expect from any accommodation booked through Dioni. Plenty of room for our family. Lovely walks to the beach nearby, and short car drive to Barmouth. We were very fortunate to have really good weather, especially after been in COVID lockdown for so long.thank you so much.

Once again we really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Think it was our 4th time at Yr Efail.

Beautiful cottage with excellent views whole family enjoyed there stay.Only downside no local pub within easy walking distance but can recommend ID’Z Taxis excellent friendly service and cheap.

Lovely cottage with all you could ever need and more. The cottage is situated in a lovely location so you can explore a variety of different places. The ability to be able to sit out on the balcony to eat was nice on a dry day.

The owners are very friendly, nothing too much trouble. We were very impressed with the standard of fitments, furniture and workmanship and very well equipped. Plenty of room for a family of 6. We can definitely recommend this superb house. The beach is about 30-40 minutes walk. There is a Spar, Post Office, Garage and Cafe in the village, all within walking distance. Great location.

We enjoyed our stay at Yr Efail. Good location for Benar and Harlech beaches and trips to Cadair Idris and Borth y Gest. Very comfortable beds and space to relax in this nicely finished property which we would recommend.

We missed out on dish clothes, dish washer tablets and tea towels but a quick trip to the Spar sorted that.

We had a fabulous week here, the house was perfect size for a family of 5 and beautifully clean and very functional. Location was great for getting out and about and making the most of the surrounding areas.

Cottage is clean, spacious and cosy, and was more than adequate for 6 of us.
Beds are particularly comfortable, being fitted with quality Sealy mattresses.

Ideally located too; well within easy walking distance of the beach, railway station and local shop.

We had a lovely family break at Yr Efail. The accommodation was very nice and the garage was a good extra for storing our bikes. We visited Snowdon and went mountain biking in the local area. Thank you.

We stayed at Yr Efail and had plenty of space despite there being six of us (four teenagers!). The house is lovely, very well equipped with good quality equipment and fittings. The views to the beach from the outside area were beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely sunsets.
The house is in a good location with a couple of shops and pubs being fairly close to hand. It’s also a short drive away from Harlech and Barmouth both of which are interesting places to visit and Barmouth has supermarkets, fish and chip shops etc which were very useful.
We had a great week investigating the beautiful area around and found plenty to do including Harlech castle, Barmouth, Portmeirion, climbing Snowdon and Caernarfon as well as walks to the beach from the house. A super week, would definitely visit again.

Stunning house, spacious, clean, comfortable and modern. Located within walking distance of two pubs, two shops, two cafes, the train station and the beach.

The balcony is excellent and allows you to sit back relax and watch the sunset!

Would recommend to anyone who’s after a rural North Wales relaxing break.

We had a lovely week in this beautiful cottage, that is very well situated for the beach, woodland walks and the village shops.

Lovely cottage, lovely layout.
Just short of boiled egg cups, 2 members of our party had already boiled the eggs and realized there was nothing to put them in.
All the things to do brochures appear to be about 4 years out of date, when we were looking at timetables we realized they were dated 2014.
Dioni said the beach was in walking distance, when we asked a local they said the walk would take about an hour.
None of these things spoiled our holiday but just thought we would point them out

The house was great. Situated at the edge of a great village. It is well furnished and equipped. The sunsets from the first floor lounge were magnificent. Would definitely recommend.

The house is perfect and a great size. It was very well equipped throughout with lovely furnishings. Weren’t blessed with good weather so enjoyed some family board games. The area is lovely and enjoyed a walk to the beach stopping off for a drink on the way back. Would definitely return. Thank you.

Yes 10 out of ten for this marvellous cottage, great position for travelling and just a short walk to the railway (and the pub), which we used.
If I had to find a niggle it would be that the quilts were a tad not wide enough for comfort and when the nights were hot we couldn’t leave the windows open in the bedrooms as they wre sash type and the bedrooms are on the ground floor, there must be something on the market to help acheive this ? Otherwise fantastic, would go again.

We had a wonderful two weeks in Wales at Yr Efail. It is a great cottage with excellent facilities in a perfect location for the unspoilt beaches and beautiful mountains. It is also a great base to visit the many places of interest nearby. We will definitely be back and thoroughly recommend this cottage.

Lovely, comfortable and well equipped cottage in this unspoilt corner of Wales. Lovely beaches and Mountains only minutes away.

We were so lucky with the weather and the local beaches were excellent to spend the day or evening just walking in the shallows as they go on for miles and miles.there is a naturist beach but we chose not to join in though tempted due to heat 😉 we visited port Merion, Caernarfon and mount snowdon (make sure you book online before you travel if you’re going to use the train to go up). The house itself was perfect. We spent nights out on the balcony well past 10pm it was so nice, made use of the bbq and kitchen facilities as with everything in the house was superb. The perfect location to explore the coast of Wales

A wonderful cottage, beautifully furnished, plenty space and a great place for discovering the fantastic local beaches.

We had a wonderful stay at Yr-Efail. The house was very clean, warm, comfortable and well equipped. With only the two of us, there was plenty of space, but could easily accommodate a larger family. The house is set on a very quiet lane that leads to the sea, which is a joy to stroll down, passing beautiful cottages on route. Although the small lane is just off the main coast road, this was not at all noisy, even when outside. The Hotel, just a few steps away, was very convenient to walk to for supper in the evenings and they had a very comprehensive menu. The area is very easy for touring the wonderful Welsh countryside. Luckily we had fairly good weather and it was glorious to come back to Yr-Efail, open the french doors and sit on the balcony and admire the wonderful sea views in the distance. We would definitely love to return.

We had a wonderful week in Yr-Efail, the cottage is well equipped with everything you could possibly need and all of a very good quality. We would definitely recommend it highly. The children (3 & 4) thought it was brilliant and especially enjoyed having the bedrooms on the ground floor which they thought was great fun. We were lucky with the weather too after a very wet first day so we had a couple of barbecues outside on the decking.
We will almost certainly be returning, hopefully sooner rather than later.

Yr Efail is without doubt one of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. It has everything you can think of. The kitchen has some high quality appliances and a large amount of crockery and cutlery. A lovely welcome basket as well with tea bags, welsh cakes and even a bottle of milk in the fridge. The living room and dining area easily accommodated 6 adults and an active toddler. Beautiful fire; not that it was needed as the underfloor heating upstairs kept us warm and cosy. A particular favourite was the views through the patio doors and out behind the balcony. An absolute joy. It was just a shame that the February temperature didn’t really allow us to make use of the patio table, chairs and bbq. I would imagine this is great in summer.
Downstairs all bedrooms were beautifully furnished and each had their own tv. Slept very well as bed was so comfortable.
We walked down the lane and found the sand dunes about a mile away. A lovely walk and even better when we got to the beach,
I would definitely book this cottage again. The location was great, everything was spotless and the obvious care and attention to detail made our stay feel quite luxurious.

We all had a lovely break at Yr Efail, and we will definitely book this holiday home again! The house was spotless, the wifi worked very well, the shower in the master room was brilliant and the beds were very comfortable, the only thing I would change, would be the pillows, as they were quite flat but other than that it was perfect! We have stayed in lots of holiday homes that are a bit out in the sticks and we end up driving round looking for shops but this house was super close to amenities and also close to lovely beaches which we enjoyed even on a freezing cold day! All in all an excellent break 🙂 Thanks Dioni you never disappoint.

A beautiful holiday home. It is described as a cottage but in reality it is a large house. Very very comfortable, the whole house is well appointed with quality fixtures and fittings . The bedrooms are downstairs and they all have wall mounted TVs . Two have super king beds and the third one has twin beds. The upstairs is open plan with a large dining room and a big kitchen with a good quality appliances. The lounge opens onto a large decking area which must be absolutely magnificent in the summer. All in all a very comfortable House in both winter and summer and well positioned to visit all of North Wales.

We had a fantastic time staying at this villa, all the furnishings are top spec and the balcony is superb to unwind at night. We loved the area and spent countless hours on the beaches are Dyffryn, Barmouth and Harlech. If I would have one complaint it would be for more fridge space but that is a minor detail. We would recommend this cottage to anyone.

We had a lovely time at this very clean, well equipped cottage. The beds are comfortable and the patio a super place to relax. It exceeded our expectations and is situated in a good position to access lots of beautiful and interesting places.

Beautiful holiday home, immaculately clean, very stylish and tasteful decor. Under floor heating was a bonus and the decking leading from the lounge area was a real treat. A perfect place for relaxing with a glass of wine. I would thoroughly recommend this property and will definitely return in the future.

The house was absolutely brilliant – very clean and with everything we needed for a short break. We were very impressed with the standard of fitments, furniture and workmanship – very much appreciated. Although not used on our holiday (off season and rainy) the balcony patio area must be wonderful in the summer months. The owners should be proud of what they have achieved and we can definitely recommend this superb house.
