Charming North Wales Holiday Cottage | Yr-Efail

X6
Near Beach
Barmouth

This charming North Wales holiday cottage with sea views is set in an idyllic village location walking distance from the beach. Three bedrooms, two doubles and one twin, can sleep up to 6 people plus a cot.

To make the most of the fantastic panoramic sea views the house has been arranged with the bedrooms on the ground floor and the living rooms on the first floor. The dining room and lounge are combined into one open plan space.

A modern oak dining table and chairs sits one end of the room complimented by some select ornaments and paintings. At the other end of the room a luxuriously large sofa sits facing onto a pleasing living flame fire. The rug, curtains and soft furnishings are all beautifully chosen.

From here we can access what is perhaps the best thing about this house, the wonderful sun terrace. Split onto two levels with wooden decking this is the perfect place for guests those sea views.

I can well imagine Dad taking charge of the BBQ, some local welsh lamb perhaps or welsh black beef steaks. The rest of the family sit and chat at the patio table drinking chilled whine wine and tumblers of squash pilled high with ice.

Back inside we turn right into the kitchen. Modern cream units sit under a black worktop. All the modern featured you would expect including a dishwasher, washing machine, large fan oven, induction hob and second combination oven. A glass panel door also offers access back out onto the sun terrace.

As mentioned there are three bedrooms downstairs. Each room is beautifully decorated and each has large modern comfortable beds. The beautifully tilled family bathroom has a bath with shower over. A second shower is housed in a generously sized en-suite bathroom.

Location

Nestled between Harlech and Barmouth along the scenic Cambrian Coast Road, Dyffryn Ardudwy is a charming village with a welcoming atmosphere.

The village also has a post office, a grocery shop, and a butcher, all a short distance from the cottage. For a wider section of shops, restaurants, and amenities, the nearby towns of Harlech and Barmouth are just a short drive away.

Dyffryn Ardudwy boats a fantastic beach with vast rolling sand dunes stretching along the coastline. The clean waters and gently sloping shore create an enjoyable environment for visitors of all ages.

For those who love the great outdoors, the mountains behind the village offer incredible walking trails. Cwm Nantcol and Cwm Bychan are among the most breathtaking valleys in Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri (Snowdonia National Park). If you're feeling adventurous, you can try white water rafting on the Tryweryn River or have a go at gorge walking with our friends at Snowdonia Adventure Activities.

We enjoyed our stay. Lovely location between Barmouth and Harlech. Spacious living area and nice sized bedrooms. We had a slight issue with the cooker, but the owner lives close by and was able to sort it for us within the hour. Would recommend.

My husband, daughter, and I have stayed in a lot of cottages all over the country over the years and were struggling to find something that felt ‘just right’ for our family this year, and in the ‘right’ location. Thankfully, we came across Dioni and the beautiful Yr Efail.

Yr Efail was quite frankly the best appointed, most perfectly equipped and laid out, comfortable cottage we have ever stayed in.

Beautifully clean and with everything we could possibly ask for.

A fantastic walk to the beach and village shops as well as a short drive away from so many locations of note. During our week there, we visited Caernarfon, Conwy, Barmouth twice – including the ferry over to Fairbourne and the Fairbourne miniature train, Portmeirion, Bala Lake, Lake Vrynwy, and finished it all off with a meal at the fabulous Victoria Inn, a short drive away in Llanbedr.

It was the most perfect week for our family and the cottage was a perfect start and end to each day. Highly recommended!

Lovely cottage with stunning views from the rear terrace which was lovely to sit out on in the evening. Cottage was well equipped and a bonus that the bedrooms were downstairs which kept them cooler during the hot weather.
Would highly recommend staying here.

We had a wonderful time staying in Yr Efail, there wasn’t any fancy gadgets in the kitchen but we had everything we needed and it all worked. The location suited us well as near to railway station. We were fortunate with the weather but we were unable to enjoy the outside space as we didn’t have a parasol but that is just a minor issue. We definitely want to return.

As others have commented, very nicely fitted out and all to a very good standard. The roof terrace off the lounge is really nice but no BBQ was provided (which did not matter as we packed our own portable) The garage also was “off limits” as it was locked with no key provided, again it did not matter as we had no need to use it. The Cadwgan Hotel appeared to be the only Bar/Pub in Dyffryn but when we called there got told it was for residents only. Dyffryn Ardudwy railway station is about 10 mins walk from Yr Efail, so using the train to get around is really easy, with lots of places to visit along the Cambrian Line.
