If we’re lucky, September and October will still bring dry, sunny days – perfect for venturing outdoors. Autumn transforms the already stunning landscapes of North Wales into a palette of fiery reds, golden yellows, and rich browns. From the forests of Eryri (Snowdonia National Park) to the coastal cliffs of Anglesey and Pen Llyn, nature puts on a spectacular display. Spots like Betws-y-Coed, Llyn Padarn, and the amazing Bodnant Gardens, are particularly striking during this season, offering photographers and nature lovers a dream backdrop.

One of the greatest perks of visiting the area during autumn is the relative peace and quiet. While summer brings an influx of visitors, autumn offers a more laid-back experience. This thrilling triathlon kicks off with a sea swim by the iconic Victorian pier (perfect for spectators), followed by a closed-road cycle around Marine Drive, the scenic road circling the Great Orme, and ends with a run along the promenade. The route is lined with spectators so expect a lively atmosphere.
Aberystwyth Comedy Festival – 4th, 5th & 6th October
Returning for its sixth year, Aberystwyth Comedy Festival features over 100 shows held in various venues along the seafront and at the University Arts Centre. This growing festival features performances from some of the UK’s finest up-and-coming comedians.
Llangollen Food Festival – 12th & 13th October
Running for over 25 years, the Llangollen Food Festival showcases producers including cheese makers, pork pie producers, vintners, chocolatiers, bakers and much more. Expect a wide variety of stalls, cooking demos, a street market, live music, and plenty of delicious food in the picturesque town of Llangollen.
