Tucked away in the rolling countryside, Clematis-Y-Ffynnon is a large, pet-friendly farmhouse where comfort, character, and countryside charm collide. Known to the owners as the Coach House, this sociable retreat sleeps up to 12 guests across five bedrooms, making it the headquarters for family gatherings, milestone birthdays, or any group of friends who think a holiday isn't complete without a fire pit and a few friendly farm animals.

Step inside to find a large open-plan living area that is actually large enough for everyone to coexist without bumping elbows. A wood burner glows in the corner, providing the perfect excuse for long evenings spent with a glass of red and a good chat. The kitchen is a powerhouse of practicality - think double oven, dishwasher, and enough crockery to host a minor banquet - while the adjoining dining area is designed for those leisurely breakfasts that somehow stretch into lunch.

On the ground floor, the layout is thoughtfully inclusive: a double room and a second bedroom featuring a double bed plus bunks sit alongside a wet room and an additional WC. This makes the cottage a fantastic choice for assisted wheelchair users or anyone who simply prefers to avoid the stairs after a long day of exploring. Upstairs, three further twin bedrooms offer flexible sleeping arrangements for the rest of the crew, alongside a stylish family bathroom.

Outside, you’ll discover private gardens, a fire pit, BBQ, and hammocks strung between the trees for when the Welsh sun makes a guest appearance. While this property enjoys a shared hot tub (the perfect place to swap stories with your neighbours), it remains a tranquil spot to soak under the stars.

You are encouraged to explore the estate’s 23 acres of woodland and meadows. You can stroll to the river for a spot of wild swimming, wander along the disused railway line through bluebell woods, or meet the resident alpacas, goats, and ducks. Guests are occasionally invited to join Les for morning feeding rounds - a guaranteed hit for the kids and a great way to meet the woolly locals.

Location

Set within the Wellstone Cottages estate near Cardigan, Clematis-Y-Ffynnon enjoys a peaceful location that’s still close to some of Pembrokeshire’s best-loved spots. The property’s Welsh name - Nantyweirglodd Isaf, meaning Lower Hay Meadow by the Stream - perfectly captures the setting: pasture, ancient woodland, and the gentle flow of the River Taf.

Follow the riverside path to find deep pools for wild swimming or a tranquil spot to cast a line. A short drive brings you to Cardigan town with its independent shops, cafés and castle, while the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Poppit Sands, and the Preseli Hills are all within easy reach for walks, wildlife and breathtaking views.

After a day exploring, return to your private corner of Wellstone, fire up the BBQ or sink into the hot tub, and watch the sun dip over the fields - llamas optional, but highly likely.
