Welcome to Jasmin-Y-Ffynnon, a charming stone cottage tucked within a peaceful 23-acre estate - a place where children roam, dogs wag, and adults finally remember how to relax. Known to the owners as Jasmine Cottage, this retreat is the ideal base for those who want the authentic Welsh smallholding experience without having to actually get up at 5:00 AM to milk anything.

Step through the front door and into a wonderfully bright kitchen-diner with vaulted ceilings - the true heart of the home. Morning sunlight spills across the solid wood table, while the scent of coffee mingles with the fresh countryside air drifting through the windows. This is where the day’s big decisions are made: will it be a coastal trek, a woodland wander, or simply a "let’s stay put and see what the goats are up to" kind of morning?

Through to the cosy sitting room, a log fire crackles inside its stone hearth, practically demanding board-game battles and late-night storytelling. While full-fibre broadband and a 40″ internet TV are ready for those inevitable Welsh "liquid sunshine" days, the real entertainment is the peaceful view of the surrounding meadows.

Sleeping arrangements are easy and flexible: two comfortable twin bedrooms (perfect for children or friends) and a double master bedroom upstairs. There’s a shower room downstairs - ideal for rinsing off sandy feet - and a family bathroom upstairs for long, lazy soaks. The cottage is fully equipped for real life, with a dishwasher, washer, dryer, and plenty of fridge space for all those local Welsh cheeses you’ll inevitably buy.

Outside, your private garden stretches down towards the river, where hammocks sway between trees and wild swimming beckons in deep, clear pools. You have your very own private hot tub, the perfect spot for a soak under the stars after a day of exploring. While the alpacas inhabit the nearby paddocks rather than sitting right at your window, they are always close enough for a friendly wave during your morning stroll.

As part of a working smallholding, the estate is a haven for animal lovers. Guests are occasionally invited to join Les to feed the alpacas, goats, and chickens - a highlight that gives the kids a magical story to tell and gives you an extra ten minutes of peace with your morning brew.

Location

Set in 23 acres of meadows, woodland and riverside walks, Wellstone Cottages sits just 12 miles from the spectacular Pembrokeshire coast and only three miles from the Preseli Mountains. The nearest beaches - Newport Sands and Poppit Sands - are wide, family-friendly and perfect for paddling, sandcastles and ice-cream picnics. A little further along the coast you’ll find Mwnt, a National Trust gem famous for its chapel-on-the-cliff, and Llangrannog, where fish-and-chips taste better with your toes in the sand.

The estate’s disused railway line follows the River Taf, now a peaceful walking trail fringed with bluebells in spring. The Orb Stream winds through the grounds, ideal for paddling or casting a line, while Cenarth Falls and the Teifi Valley promise more wild swimming and scenic rambles.

Within 20–30 minutes’ drive, discover Cardigan Bay for dolphin-spotting, St Davids for cathedral culture, or Tenby for colourful seaside bustle. Whatever the day brings, the tranquillity of Wellstone Cottages - hammocks, hot tubs and happy alpacas - is waiting when you return.

We had a great couple of days at Jasmine cottage for my mums birthday over the Easter bank holiday, it was a lovely peaceful change from busy life and very tranquil with the hot tub to relax in as well as complimentary home baked snacks and freshly laid eggs from the hens, and a lovely bottle of bubbly, there was 6 adults in our family and 1 dog and 1 cat, the house was safe for them so that was my main priority. It was lovely to see the animals, and also to photograph the beautiful peacock, it really was a beautiful place to stay, my dog loved the country walks and the little stream at the bottom near the Alpaca’s. Les was extremely fast and helpful when we needed something and very good with recommendations, amazing host. I would love to make a trip back again some day, Thank you
