Gwyddonfa is a beautiful modern four bedroom seaside holiday cottage near the beach sleeping 8. The perfect seaside retreat at anytime of the year. Classic, nautical, and neutral colours, the feel inside is fresh, understated and very relaxing.

You feel a sense of calm as soon as you walk through the door of this property which is exactly what you want when you come for a week of rest and relaxation on the beautiful North Wales coast. Situated on the North side of the Llyn Peninsula, you are perfectly placed to enjoy the beautiful hot spots of the Llyn as well as taking in some of the high adrenalin adventures the Snowdonia National Park has to offer.

The entrance into the property is through a long hallway, to the right is the sitting room; a large open space with plenty of seating for the group, TV and big windows letting in plenty of light. There is a dining table and chairs also set up at one end of the room. The furniture is cream, taupe and wooden which when it all comes together offers a very serene feel to the room.

Further on towards the back of the house is the kitchen. Complete with everything you need to cater for your group. There is also a smaller table that seats 4 which is perfect for breakfast rounds when everyone is on holiday time! Moving further back in the house is the utility room, boot room and the ground floor WC - the setup is perfect if you are looking to go and explore the great outdoors as you have everything you need to sort out all the wellies and wet weather gear on your return. Outside guests have a private patio area with outdoor seating, BBQ and that all important hot tub.

Up to the first floor where you’ll find 3 of the 4 bedrooms. A double with ensuite, a double and twin with set of bunk beds. All styled with neutral colours along with splashes of nautical artwork and ornaments makes the rooms feel really fresh and inviting - there will be lots of good night sleeps here for sure. The ensuite has a bath, shower, WC and washbasin. There is also a family bathroom that caters for the other 3 bedrooms that has the same set up as the en-suite.

Upstairs to the second floor is the attic bedroom - a fantastic, double room with a high apex ceiling making it really roomy. A sofa area is a welcome addition as a great place to escape if you want some alone time to read a book or take a nap - the sea air will do that to you!

Location

Set 100 yards up from Dinas Dinlle, one of the most beautiful beaches that the North Wales Coast has to offer is a real selling point of this property and something you can enjoy all year around. There are miles of long sandy beach with facilities available, including toilets, cafes and a few shops. During the summer months, it is a great place to spend the sunny days and likewise during the winter, fabulous for walks taking in the fresh air followed by tea and cake in a nearby cafe.

If you head West, you'll move further into the Llyn Peninsula where you have lots of offer. The beautiful sandy coves found at Nefyn and Whistling sands, which are about a 15 min drive further along the north side of the peninsula are certainly worth a visit. The towns of Pwllheli and Criccieth should also be on your ‘places to go’ list as they both offer some great places to eat and drink along with shops to mooch in. The marina at Pwllheli is great for sailing and Criccieth is home to the castle.

In terms of activities you are spoilt for choice. Glasfryn Parc is where to go for karting, wakeboarding, archery, clay pigeon shooting.

Head East from the cottage and you'll find yourself in Bangor and Caernarfon, both much larger towns and home to some other great activities. Bangor is the gateway to Anglesey and so lots of fun things to do on the Menai Straits including the famous rib rides. Caernarfon has the castle of course and is a market town with lots of places to eat and drink.

A drive of 20mins further into the mountains will bring you to the foot of Wyddfa (Snowdon), the famous Zipworld and the beautiful towns and villages of Snowdonia to explore aswell of course as all the walking, climbing and watersports options that are available in the mountains and lakes.

We had a lovely stay in Gwyddonfa. Very well equipped cottage. Very clean.
Went for long walks and relaxed in the hot tub. We could use the swimming pool next door in the caravan park which is really good. It was a heated pool. Couldnā€™t find any door stoppers in the cottage but that is a very minor point. Would recommend this cottage for a relaxing holiday

We had a lovely stay in August 2024 at Gwyddonfa. The house is spacious and very nicely decorated throughout with quality fixtures and fittings. Across the week their was a total of 8 of us and two dogs, plenty of space for us all. Plenty of crockery provided and was sufficient for us all too. Towels for hot tub and dressing gowns are a nice addition. We used the hot tub across the week and it was checked daily. We didn’t use the pool at the site next door but were offered this on arrival as well as access to the bar and conservatory area which welcomes dogs. The beach is only a few minutes walk away great for a walk on the beach with the dog. Great views along the coast if you take a walk up the iron age fort nearby. The Airport museum is great and very interactive for little ones, a lovely cafe on site too. Braf cafe is lovely just a short walk away and local shop too for any forgotten essentials and lovely icecreams. I would recommend this house if you want a quiet holiday with family. Carnaefon only a short drive away. We ate a couple of nights at The Goat Inn, Glandwyfach, about a 15 minute drive, recommend booking as very busy. The food was lovely.

Just back from our 3rd trip to Gwyddonfa and as always, we have thoroughly enjoyed our stay even though it was only a short break this time. We went as a family of 7 including the dog and it is truly a wonderful place to stay, the location so close to the fabulous Dinas Dinlle beach is perfect for all the family and we saw some beautiful sunsets. We went last Aug and there have been some changes at the cottage which were a lovely surprise. The new garden table and chairs that site 8 comfortably were well used when we had our BBQ or for sitting watching the family enjoy the hot tub. The BBQ is a new one and is huge so perfect for cooking for a large family. The oven and microwave have been changed which was great as we struggled with the oven last year but there were no issues at all this year. You have everything you need to cook at home in the cottage a variety of pans/casserole dishes as well as plenty of plates/glasses etc. The cottage is very spacious, and we have been as a family of 9 before ages between 5 & 70 and did not feel cramped or on top on of each other. We used the pool at the caravan site which is well maintained and great that you can book a slot to ensure it is not overcrowded. The Braf cafe just down the road does great breakfast/lunch and homemade cakes, our granddaughter said the choc pancakes with fruit were the best she has had. There is also a local shop on the opposite side of the road to Braf so you can pick up any last minute essentials quite easily. We went into Caernarfon for lunch at our fav restaurant The Black Boy Inn. Thanks very much to the Dioni Team who make the booking process so easy and respond very quickly to any special requests or queries as well as the onsite Team at the caravan park reception who are very friendly and helpful. Roll on 2025 when we can go back again!!

We had a lovely time at Gwyddonfa. The house is beautiful and spacious. Itā€™s in a beautiful part of the world, albeit access to it is down a very small lane which can get a bit hairy when a great big tractor or truck is driving towards you and you have nowhere to go.
There are a few niggles though which could easily be sorted to make a stay much more enjoyable.
There is a dishwasher supplied, as who wants to wash dishes on holiday? However, there is only one set of crockery, mugs and cutlery for the 8 people that could stay there. So if you want to eat more than once a day, you have to start washing dishes. There are plenty of drinking glasses but not enough of anything else.
When Iā€™ve stayed in holiday homes before there has always been things like salt, pepper, vinegar etc. a cupboard of staples that can be used, even tin foil. The only thing at Gwyddonfa was salt. Luckily I had brought a lot of essentials with me just in case, otherwise weā€™d have had to go shopping for all of the basics let alone anything else.
The hot tub was lovely, but also showing signs of age. Some of the jets donā€™t work and one of the ā€˜pillowsā€™ keeps coming off. The table and chairs outdoors is not as shown online. Itā€™s a picnic bench. And itā€™s not a nice one. It was very old, not treated and uncomfortable so made sitting outside not very desirable as we could only sit for so long before it cut the blood supply from your legs. I even got a splinter as the wood was so rough. We could also have done with a parasol as there was no area for shade, and lucky for us we had some beautiful weather.
The sofas in the lounge are quite soft and low down, with very deep seats. Not comfortable for any length of time.
The biggest issue for us was that the EV chargers on the adjacent campsite (which oversees the letting of the house) werenā€™t working during the whole of our stay. The guy at reception initially said he would ring to get them online, but this never happened. I asked if we could charge from the house and he said heā€™d find out, but he never got back to us. We travelled in 2 electric cars and needed to get them charged to explore and then get home.

The nearest chargers are miles away in Caernarfon and there are currently only two (May 2024) One at Morrisons and one at the leisure centre on the edge of town.
So that in itself took up some of our holiday time, trying to find working chargers that werenā€™t occupied already.

The house is in a great location, next to the beach and within easy reach of numerous places of interest. The house is lovely, it has been decorated and fitted out to a very high standard. There are some great bonuses like the hot tub gowns and towels which were great, the games, kitchen welcome boxes. Just a couple of suggestions for reference: it would benefit from having some more crockery and cutlery as there is only enough to use for 8 people, none for serving etc. It would be good to have more serving bowls, dishes and maybe pizza boards. The top floor is absolutely huge, it seems like wasted space and would benefit from an ensuite if possible. It could also have a couple of single beds or sofa beds to accommodate a family in the one room, which could increase the overall capacity. We had a lovely restful 3 nights, thoroughly enjoyed the area with the club house next door a bonus for a drink and game.

Had a lovely weekend stay. The accommodation was home from home. The robes and towels provided for the hot tub use was great. The use of the leisure park was a bonus as it was next door, very quiet. Lovely walk to the beach and surroundings. 10 minutes out of Caernarfon town were Tesco and Morrison for food shopping and fuel. All 7 of us would definitely recommend.

This time last week we were, sadly, returning home from an absolutely brilliant week in Gwyddonfa. Eight of us, so the house was full, ages from 3 to 76. We didn’t see a cloud all week, amazing beach a hundred yards from the door, house exactly as described and seen on the website, with the bonus of the hot tub. Handy shops for newspapers, ice creams, fish & chips, odds and ends and beach paraphernalia, as well as a cafe. The local airport with its museum and cafe was a surprising treat, again within walking distance. Helicopters and light planes coming and going very frequently, and the museum staffed by a real enthusiast whose passion was inspiring.
There were a couple of very minor things, shower drain in family bathroom clogged up on day one, and the door of the en suite impossible to close. (We may have celebrated our Golden Wedding last year, but I still don’t want to hear every bathroom noise, and neither does he!) On the subject of loos, the downstairs one had no lock, though it looked as though a little bolt used to be there. We found only one hand towel and wondered if there should have been more, but other towels were plentiful. I also wondered about a first- aid kit? This only came up because my son was stung by a lesser weever fish during an early morning fishing expedition. He googled it of course, and the main treatment is immersion of the site in very hot water, so there was nothing we needed, but it was just a thought. We’ve usually found them in caravans, first-aid kits that is, not weever fish! And being a full house, we were using the dishwasher twice every day. Might it be worthwhile to provide more crockery and cutlery?
But these little points in no way detracted from the wonderful time that we had while staying in Gwyddonfa. We would recommend the house to anyone for a holiday, especially an all-age family get-together, as it’s so spacious and well appointed, and we may well return.
Thank you to everyone concerned in making our visit so enjoyable.

We had a wonderful holiday in Dinas Dinlle. All the facilities at Gwyddonfa were excellent, especially the hot tub. We were out every day enjoying the beautiful countryside so weren’t concerned with the outside space, the decked and paved back yard was adequate for our needs.
We had a much needed break in 5* accommodation, diolch yn fawr.
