Ysgubor y Gelli is a one bedroom holiday cottage accommodation near Eryri (Snowdonia) and 1 mile from the now famous Zip World. Located in a quiet village but within easy access to nearby mountains, coast, towns, attractions and activities.

On entering this converted barn, you come into an open plan kitchen diner and sitting room. This is a great space and layout allowing for that ‘all coming together’ factor so when you are the designated cook for the night you don’t have to do it alone!

The kitchen units are very modern in a high gloss finish and all the necessary equipment you will need and expect is here for cooking during your stay. The farmhouse style dining room table and chairs give character to the room and a great place to work out plans for the day and enjoy evening meals.

The sitting room section is home to a large TV and plenty of comfortable seating in which you can catch up on your rest and relaxation during your stay. The overall layout of the room makes for a very sociable space.

Upstairs opens up into a wonderful bedroom, taking up the full floor. With a superking bed, the interior is a mix of modern and traditional that works well to create a really lovely space. The chaise longue style sofa will be the perfect place to take yourself to read if you want some ‘me’ time.

The en-suite bathroom has a shower; a neutral colour scheme and modern fittings again work towards a fresh and airy feel.

Location

Y-Gelli is situated in a one acre hay meadow in the hamlet of Tregarth – a slate village on the edge of Eryri and 4 miles from the University city of Bangor. A handful of cafes and convenience shops are nearby and venture to nearby Menai Bridge, Caernarfon, Conwy and Beaumaris to experience excellent Welsh cuisine and culture.

The area is steeped in history and culture; Penrhyn Castle is on the doorstep, the barn was in fact formerly part of the Penrhyn estate. A little further down the coast will bring you to the famous Portmeirion Village, Bodnant Gardens and a number of famous Medieval Welsh Castles.

There are lots of activities nearby that will keep you entertained. The famous Zip World is located 5 minutes away and the Lôn Las Ogwen cycle path running from Lake Ogwen to Bangor then connecting to the North Wales coast cycle path passes by the cottage itself.. This cottage is the ideal base to walk the North Wales coastal path and the Llyn Peninsula.

Being so close to the mountains of Eryri there are endless opportunities for walking and climbing. Why not try all kinds of water sports or fishing on the Menai Straits. Other adventure activities including climbing, coasteering, and mountain biking are all within easy reach, it’s close to the Marin trails in Betws y Coed.
